Lots of Brits in action - and the rain has stayed away for a while today!
Paul Jubb received a WC and won his R1 match. Now takes on Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, WR 104 (CH #74 in 2017) and it's just started on the ATP Challenger livestream.
Jubb broken in his first service game so Monteiro raced to a 3-1 lead but Jubb has just held for 2-3 and could break back once he finds his rhythm.
FWIW I saw him play at Surbiton where he lost in 3 sets to James Ward but it's fair to note that it was Jubbs' first EVER match on a grass court. So we'll see how he does now he's a bit more used to the slippery surface.

Monteiro takes the first set 6'4. Jubb seems to be finding his range though as the match progresses so maybe he can fight back?

Jubb takes the 2nd set 6'3. Don't want to jinx him but ...
... fingers crossed he can take the decider!

Jubb broke in the 3rd game and has just held serve for 4-2 in the 3rd set.
Monteiro serving ... 0-30.

Paul Jubb wins 4'6, 6'3, 6'2. Fought hard in the 3rd set against Monteiro who was trying hard to break back into the match.

I am going to the semis on Saturday and the final on Sunday. It would be fantastic to see him there!

He has to get through R3 (Kubler or 9th seed Novak) first ... but he's a fighter and won't give up even if he loses the first set so you may be lucky. Quite a good line-up regardless!
Although not much British action to follow ... Broady and Hoyt lost today. In the Battle of the British (mothers) Klein beat Choinski and could meet Jubb in the Quarters but both have stiff competition to get that far.

I managed to watch some of Paul's match and was very impressed.

Yes, same here! And he gave a lovely interview too. Seems like a really nice young man. Plenty of Yorkshire support for him.
