View Full Version : WIMBLEDON Mixed Doubles R3: Andy/Serena v. Soares/Melichar - Wednesday approx 2.30pm
Court 2 is the big ticket for tomorrow!
Andy and Serena are third up, after a Ladies Doubles that starts not before 1pm.
I guess Serena would not want a late match on Wednesday with her playing on Thursday.

Very tight match - feels like Andy is playing better than yesterday, Serena not quite getting those amazing returns she hit last night.

Apart from that nightmare service game, Bruno Soares is giving an exhibition of top doubles playing today. It is as if he felt he had something to prove!
But you never know. 1-4 C'mon Andy and Serena!
I've got to say I've never been a Serena fan, but have to admit thoroughly enjoyed watching Andy & Serena play dubs, shame they lost but good court workout for our Andy!!

Disappointing (though was not getting too carried away) but enjoyable match and the top seeds were a class above their previous opponents, Soares/Melichar had some magic in the 3rd whilst Andy/Serena could not quite find the form needed to keep it close. The matches will certainly help Andy and for the most part felt he was still fairly impressive today, Serena misfired a bit on ocassions.
Really entertaining first 2 sets. Andy was def doing the heavy lifting today. I'll miss him now, but great we had him right thru until the 2nd Wed. I don't know when we will next see him, but it's comforting to know that we will see him back on a tennis court at some stage reasonably soon... when he's good and ready. I can understand his thinking that it's maybe not worth going to USA purely to play doubles. Maybe it shouldn't have, but it did cross my mind watching Bruno today, that maybe he and Jamie should have stayed together a wee while longer? Bruno was so good today. Well played Bruno and Nicole. And thank you Andy and Serena for giving us such great entertainment.:thanks::clap::clap:

Very enjoyable. I am, however, conscious that this is just a warm up for Andy and fun for Serena, whereas for Soares and the regular doubles players it's their bread and butter. So not sorry to see the top seeds go through. Just grateful for what we've had of Andy and looking forward to whatever comes next.
It would have been a fairytale ending to the Championships to have Andy and Serena playing in the last match on Sunday - sadly it wasn't to be but it was sooooo good while it lasted! Bruno played brilliantly today ...... the best I've seen him play for ages. The better team certainly won. Onwards and upwards, Andy!!
I've been in the US visiting my cousin and was despairing of seeing much coverage of Wimbledon tennis that I was interested in but of course with Andy playing mixed doubles with Serena, they showed their matches so was well pleased. Came home today and was sorry to find they'd lost. I loved his matches with Lopez at Queens, and sad the pairing with Melo didn't work; what happened with his Herbert link-up? (holiday dates were not of my making and I'm so behind with results but will catch up on here and now have 4 days of my usual all-day Wimbledon viewing - bliss!) x

I remember when Venus was winning everything and Serena was not quite there and people would say 'the younger sister is even better '. It was difficult to believe but I eventually saw that it was true. I used to enjoy watching her as a younger player but then when players start winning everything, it gets boring. Also her attitude on court made me not want to watch often so all in all, I've not watched her play much in recent years. However these matches showed me the excellent and phenomenal talent that she is. I really believed they could have won the whole tournament :( Specialist doubles players won on the day through. Feeling a bit flat now!

I felt the Herbert match-up just didn't quite gel. There didn't seem to be any chemistry between them and Herbert seemed very flat in their second match.

Just like the thing- Soares/Melichar are now out going down 6-4,6-3 to Middelkoop/Yang.
