Given Andy's 'news' at the Australian Open I'm hopeful there'll be a Challenger in Glasgow again this year AND just maybe he'll play there in the doubles with Jamie???

After receiving a reply about the Loughborough Trophy, I wrote back to the LTA about whether or not the Glasgow one will be going ahead this year. The reply was:

Thanks again for your email.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. So, I would advise you to keep checking our website for upcoming information.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Typical, just booked that week off work but planned to be away. Might have to negotiate the holiday for a different time but keep the week as leave so I can get to this. Sounds like Jamie might play. Dare we hope he might team up with Andy that week????

Andy Murray has now claimed he's thinking of making his singles comeback here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/48716117 I think I won't be able to go, which is a big shame for me.

EVENT INFORMATION - ATP WEBSITE

Most Challenger events will offer catering on-site but probably only at one main outlet. I've never been stopped from taking in my own picnic at these events ...

No full Entry List as yet ... but here's an update from the LTA regarding British players.

Aidan McHugh has a chance to impress in his hometown after being given a wild card into the line-up for the inaugural Murray Trophy - Glasgow at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre in September.

The 19-year-old joins fellow Brits Jay Clarke, Jack Draper, Lloyd Glasspool and Evan Hoyt on the entry list for the ATP Challenger event, which gets underway on Monday 16 September. McHugh, who is supported by the LTA’s Pro Scholarship programme, has been in good form on the ITF circuit over the summer, winning a $15k title in Singapore and reaching the final of two others in June.

We have been working closely with Jamie Murray over several months in developing the event. The combination of Murray’s experience on the pro circuit and our expertise in delivering world class events will ensure the tournament excels in meeting the needs of both the players on court and the fans in the stands.

Last year’s ATP Challenger (known as the Glasgow Trophy) was won by Slovakia’s Lukas Lacko, who fought back from a set down to beat Italian Luca Vanni 4-6 7-6(3) 6-4. Jay Clarke is one of nine players on the entry list ranked within the world top 200 including Austria’s Dennis Novak, Frenchman Gregoire Barrere and Tunisian Malek Jaziri.

Note: Jay Clarke is NOT now playing.

Jamie and John Patrick Smith playing again this evening, not before 6.30. Enjoy all who are attending this weekend, whilst I have tickets for Saturday/Sunday unfortunately now unlikely to make it due to family issue.

Well done Jamie and JP. The Turkish players made them work for it in the end! Jamie (smiling playfully), "I want to present the trophy to myself on Sunday...." Good one Jamie! Love it!:clap:

Was very straightforward initially but the Turkish Team did give them a test as the match progressed, Jamie and John clearly better team though they did have to save a few break back points in the 2nd.

In the gap between matches it was interesting to see some of the youngsters of the Academy - the future of British tennis - and an appearance by Judy with her "other son"!

Disappointing, however it was very tight in the end and Bemelmans/Masur did play well. A pity it was Smith serving at 8-9 in the mtb, however Jamie and John Patrick did entertain throughout the week. Great of Jamie to play the event ! Singles was a quick match, well done to Ruusuvuori though, was 3rd title in 4 months.

I did keep my eyes open for AMFFers, sadly didn't spot any. I've no doubt you were all dancing and cheering as hard as anybody. Murraynators in the spotlight a lot...even mentioned by JP in his post match interview. :hmm: Glad y'all had a good time. Hope Murray Trophy will be back in Glasgow next year.
