A fine win, very close, felt like it could honestly go either way. Improvements in his shot selection, still a bit of work to do on it. Very happy!

As folks know I am a negative ninny, but let’s face reality here - a man with a metal hip currently ranked in the 500’s has just taken out the world number 13. That’s one heck of an achievement.

Do I think he will win more Grandslams - no. Could he win a few more lower level tournaments? I think there is a good chance a few more months down the line.

In live rankings he is now at 366 and a win in the next match would shoot him up into the 200s so it really is onwards and upwards!

Well that's my evening viewing sorted - a lovely replay to watch. I caught the 1st set tiebreak having my breakfast but then had to make do with livescore on my train commute. At 5-5 in the 2nd set TB the train went underground....arghh. Got off at my station and dashed up to street level to find Andy had won
Yipppeeee. Anyone who saw a deranged woman in Liverpool Central this morning impatiently trying to get a signal.....that was me :barmy:

Alarm set for another short night - but so worth it today. Liking Andy's serving and the power he seems to be getting back in his shots. Still likes the odd dodgy drop shot. Luckily Berretini also seems to be a fan of those but did play plenty of good ones too. Fun times are back!
