Yes, on SS4 from 1pm.
Wouldn't you know it - it clashes with the Aegon Masters from the Albert Hall where the 'old guys' are playing! Why couldn't that be next weekend?

Pity the events clash, should certainly be a good DC final, though it may be possible to watch both!

ETA: All my capital letters have disappeared from the thread title. I posted it all in capitals!
This is a quirk of VB and it's happened in both previous versions of the forum. If you want a title to appear in Capitals you need at least one lower case letter; that doesn't really make sense I know but that's how it works.
Sorry can't be more help ...
TBH an all Caps title is a bit 'shouty' so with tourney threads we usually put the location in caps and use upper/lower case as normal for the rest.
I've edited the thread title and made main points capitals (and added who is playing).
Let one of the mods know if you want it changed again ...

Anyone know why Monaco is playing singles - is either Del Potro or Nalbandian injured?

02-12-2011, 13:28
Sorry, can't help you...only switched on as they were ready to play.
Nalbandian is playing the doubles, and they will probably put him in instead of Monaco on Sunday if needed. So they are saving him today as don't want him worn out playing a tough 5-setter on the first day.
Rafa takes it quite easily 6-1 , 6-1 , 6-2 :cheer::cheer:
Delpo next
Wonderful match from Rafa. Good to see him looking happy and playing well. Poor Pico was just cannon fodder. I think Ferru v DelPo will be much more closely contested.

I was a bit worried about Potty but I think Ferru did a good job. You could tell how relieved he was for it to be all over.
He was fitter than DelPo in the end. You have to wonder just how fit Ferru would be if he didn't smoke!

The whole weekend would've been heaven for Linda ;)
It was a complete sellout. At the last they offered a few more seats with very limited view. Although it looked on the screen as though there were empty seats, they were seats that were not offered because you wouldn't have been able to see anything. It was in a bullring, and they build stands surrounding 3 sides of the court. So more than half of the bullring couldn't be used 'cos the view would have been obscured by the temporary stands.
Aww I felt sorry for Delpo at the end  But love Daveed too and am very happy for him. So many journalists seem to totally underestimate how good he is so it's good that he's proved at the wtf and here what a high level of tennis he can play.
Rafa was brilliant today, clay is so good for him.

Rafa was brilliant today, clay is so good for him.
Just shows you how amazing Djokovic is to have beaten Rafa on clay twice in big finals. I wonder if he'll beat him in next year's FO final (if they both get there). Most interesting.
Delighted to see Daveed win. I was getting sick and tired of the Commentators drooling over Del Potro. I can't see him getting back to the top 5. His shot making is very one dimensional. I still remember his insulting remarks about Judy, if that is the way you try to upset your opponent to win a match it says a lot about the person you are. I was delighted that Andy won that match.

Not much mention of the argentine win ?
Would be even more interesting if thy can pick up first rubber tomorrow
is it rafa v jmdp ?

That was an enjoyable match. I'm glad Argiebargie got a win. Good dubs team! I think Team Spain were feeling the pressure too much.
Glad Argentina won :) Nalby and Schwank are a good team. Verdasco and Lopez were awful, they didn't seem to have any real strategy out there today.
If it is Rafa v Delpo tomorrow that will be interesting as Delpo is one of the few players who can challenge him - probably not on clay though.

Poor Rafa is having a torrid time. He seems to be a couple of steps behind most of the time.
It's 'cos DelPo is so tall - those high bouncing shots of Rafa's that cause Fed so much trouble just go straight into DelPo's hitting zone. He needs to do something different.

Obviously Rafa hass really stepped it up and in some tremendous form now, but a pity Del Potro has fallen away somewhat though I think he may be a bit jaded now and that blistering start seems a while ago now! Nadal breaks again at the start of the 4th and surely this rubber is over.

Topset turvey 4th, Nadal up 2-0 and then Del Porto had chance to to serve it out at 5-3 before Rafa served for it himself at 6-5 only to be broken. Spain now up 4-0 in the breaker though, seems no coming back this time!

How amazingly classy is Rafa, though?!
His team leapt over the barrier and engulfed him, which you can understand, but you could clearly see he was trying to wriggle out of the group hug to go and acknowledge his opponent. He was very gracious to Potty, and not only that, he went along the whole line of the opposing team with a hug and a word for every one of them.
The man is class - no other word for it. I'm not sure anyone else in the top ten woud have done that. I think Andy probably would, in a similar situtation, but unfortunately he hasn't been in one so we don't know :)

Must say I totally agree - but then I would. :rolling: I was really worried during and after that first set. So glad Rafa could find a solution. Hope he does the same with Djoko next year.
Feel so sorry for Potty and Argiebargie. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride. At least the won the dubs and very convincingly at that.
Sooo happy for Rafa to have won the rubber that gave Spain the davis cup win. Hoepfully for him that will restore his confidence for 2012 ..... as long as he's not playing Andy too often!!
Also think DelPo will be at his best come next year. I like him and felt very sorry for him at the end when he was in tears. And yes, what an incredibly good and classy guy Rafa is for his behaviour at the end of the match.
