I wasn't sure where to put this but for anyone who is interested the matches in Serbia which Djokovic has organised are being shown on Eurosport from 1 p.m. today and tomorrow.

I had assumed this was behind closed doors but there is quite a large crowd which is somewhat surprising. Will watch some of it. In terms of infections Serbia 63rd (on per capita basis) and joint 61st in terms of deaths. However 29 deaths per million compared to 566 Italy, 580 Spain, Uk 611 and Belgium 833. If you watch this you would think Serbia has no virus problem at all - it all looks completely normal - crowds, ball kids, towels.
Djokovic lost a match earlier to Krajinovic who really should have beaten Zverev yesterday.

Djokovic strolled through the first five games but Zverev got going to take it to a 3rd, however Novak prevailed 4-2. However did not qualify for final,Thiem took it 4-2 in decider over Krajinovic.

This week's final between Djokovic and Rublev cancelled at the last minute following Dimitrov's positive Covid-19 result! Hope he will be ok along with the others of course! https://www.eurosport.com/tennis/grigor-dimitrov-tests-positive-for-coronavirus_sto7782885/story.shtml

Grigor gets the virus. I'm surprised he's not the only one involved in this particular venture, they seem very relaxed about distancing over there.

Yes worrying, hopefully Grigor does not take too long to recover. Borna Coric has also tested positive though does not have symptoms at the moment, Djokovic said to be awaiting result. Thought they were being far too lax with social distancing though, even if not as badly affected in these countries.

Totally agree with you James. I couldn’t believe the lack of care and social distancing. Djokovic seems to believe he is invincible, whereas he’s a dumb head. I’m sure many more who attended the tournament and played in it will test positive. Perhaps this will be a wake up call.

Don't know if the blame can be out at Novak's door. Everyone is responsible for their own actions but surely they were led by the official guidelines of the country/countries concerned. One thing's for sure, the Brits won't be playing basketball with each other this week !

I hear Cilic and Rublev tested negative but are still going to self isolate for 2 weeks.
Also I think Dimitrov's coach and one of Djoko's team tested positive. Yikes!
Honestly, WHO thought this would be a good idea?
Not the WHO, anyway! :big grin:
Agree with you both James & Mickey!!!
It seems that Trotski and his pregnant wife have tested positive and yet Djokovic has not revealed if he has been tested and if so the result. This despite two of his team testing positive as well as the players he was with.

so that's 8 in total now (players, coaches, partners), Djokovic really should have been tested on site!

Feel it was pretty arrogant of Novak not to be tested on site. Presumably he didn't want to be isolated away from his family. I can understand that but his attitude is very irresponsible and his statement not humble. Hope all those testing positive recover quickly and learn from this episode.

Looking at a photo of Thiem being tested, it seems quite different from that wonderful video that Jamie posted. Is there actually a much more pleasant way to test for the virus?

He does? Where did you hear that from? I saw his tweets telling Djoko et al off, which is kinda rich coming from him.

I am not aware of anywhere reliable reporting that Kyrgios has tested positive. Where has that been reported?

Neither have I & I have checked all the papers etc!
Kyrgios could have tested positive, but have no symptoms. But, I haven't read that either. I wasn't surprised, as all the players did hang around with each other beforehand and there was no social distancing either before or during the tournament.

Kyrgios was shown in an interview on the BBC 1.00 news today and I thought he said it, but I could have misheard and he was talking about the others.

Perhaps the ATP will consider his position as President of the Player Council when he has been so irresponsible

I know he's been very critical of the Balkan tour, which I find ironic, but that's another matter.
I heard, last night, Djokovic's dad had claimed that Dimitrov had already got the virus before the tournament started and had passed it onto the others.

Says here that Dimitrov refused to get tested in Zadar.
But conflicting reports in the Guardian with lots of blaming games and Dimitrov had come from isolation and had not refused a test.

Kyrgios wasn't there!!!
Kyrigios would never have gone to Serbia, because of 1. The Pandemic 2. Novak Djokovic, who he has no time for.
My son lives in NZ and, seemingly, the media there has been blaming Jelena Djokovic for infecting everyone with the virus!!
NZTV News presenters calling Djokovic 'Anti-Vax Covid Boy' ...... I don't think they'd get away with that on the BBC!
