Some brilliance from Andy to take the breaker in the end :cheer::cheer:though some help from Tiafoe along the way! Still Andy has been fairly impressive in the circumstances, even though there has been a bit of inconsistency. Serving at 0-1 in 2nd now.

Yes Andy did not seem to have quite the same energy in the 2nd and 45% 1st serves made it more challenging, mind you Tiafoe came up with great backhand volley in only break.

Right back on track now though, takes 3rd break point with great defence to lead 2-0, keep it going!

Yippee, what an encouraging match. Very nice win over the talented Mr Tiafoe and in brutal conditions. If there's any justice at all everything Andy's put himself through will turn out to be worthwhile for him. Obviously it's early days and much will depend on recovery between matches not just what we see on court, but I didn't see anything today that made me worry Andy isn't on the right track. That's all I hoped for. Happy!

Great way to play a third set. Well done Andy. Impressive. Naturally and totally understandably both players showing signs of match rustiness, but if Andy manages to play his way in, he will get better and better. Strange to see him waving to a non-existent crowd after the match!! My hope now is that Andy is ok and the hip will suffer no ill effects. I've just heard a report that the father of Sascha has tested positive for Covid, but it's unknown when Sascha last had contact with him. H'mm. But so happy for Andy tonight. :clap:

Wonderful to see him win. He played his way in albeit with shots he wouldn't normally miss. But Andy is Andy and found his way. I'm so happy that he won his first match. He played well considering how long it's been for him. Now watching Jamie and Neal in a close first set.

What a lovely way to round off a Saturday after a first full week of children back in school full time and a long overdue catch up with friends (6 months of zoom doesn't compensate for the real thing ). Thank Andy!

Woohoo tennis is back and Andy is back winning! Great to see :) I was a little worried about their energy levels but after seeing Kyle's match and what the heat is doing to everyone, I'm happy that Andy will continue to improve his energy and match fitness. It truly is a level playing field now..........apart from the metal hip.

I am just so glad to have Andy to cheer again. :cheer:
