I cannot see how it is a bad thing as it might give Andy time to work out a strategy to deal with how he is. During the first set I had a look at the draw and Thiem and Dimitrov went out so the QF is very winnable. EIther Krajinovic or Fucsovic.

All over a bit too quickly 6-2,6-2 ,obviously not a great performance from Andy but looks like not enough in tank. Certainly Raonic was in form but did not have a great deal of resistance. Still positives for Andy to take from week, display against Zverev was outstanding.

Not surprised by the result. Raonic also beat him on one of his first matches back from the back surgery way back in 2014. Three matches back to back a step too far at this stage. His match fitness must be shot to hell. Still another impressive week for him, given how little he has played in the last 3 years.

As far as I am concerned any wins at all are bonuses, given we expected him to retire not so long ago.

I do agree about boring play! I really don’t enjoy big servers as very little actual ‘tennis’ gets played. I much prefer to watch tennis craftsmanship and quick tennis thinkers!

Milos used to be *just* a big server but his overall game has really improved. He had some amazing shots yesterday. I do think that Andy played poorly tho' and he had no answer to Milos. But I expect he'll be much better next week. And he did beat Zverev which was incredibly impressive.

Think you've summed it up very well, Pabbers. Agree with you. And quite frankly, having Andy around at all is a bonus. Of course we want him to win every time, but nobody, just nobody, can win everything every time. It's a nice feeling that, all being well, we have him to look forward to next week. Anticipation is good fun too.

Just what I thought. Andy was definitely below par and made too may errors. We just have to be patient as he has to be. I enjoyed watching him back on the tour and hope he does himself justice at the US Open.

I thought Milos played much better than the shambolic Sascha. He is much more focussed. But these are top players and Andy does not look too shabby against them. Who would have thought back in Oz at the supposedly last match? :knight:
