I really couldn't be bothered going to all that trouble. It's not been easy for you who want to get to certain venues. I'll be content to watch from the sofa. Usually only interested in Athletics, tennis, swimming plus any sport in which GB is doing well.

Absolute disgace the people running this, why dont they just use their brains? They said they didn't expect so many to want to resell? really??, so people wouldn't want to change their mind or book a hoilday instead then!!

Can't believe re-sale still not up and running ...... usually we can't even comtemplate treating ourselves as a family to something as pricey as this, now for once we can, and all we get is extreme frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:furious:

How they can say they didn't expect so many to want to re-sell, given you were obliged to buy everything that came your way, I do not understand! It's one of the reasons I didn't apply - didn't want to apply willy nilly and then find myself with a huge bill. Although, as things panned out, it looks as if that would have been unlikely! Shambles. Will be plumping up the armchair in readiness.

Out of which those unsuccessful in both ballots will only have a go after the 24 hours and those who went for minority sports because they just wanted to be at the Olympic Games (hardcore fans?) will get nothing there! Pretty unfair that they didn't make it clear from the start that if you even got one pair of random sport tickets you will be barred from getting any remaining tickets apart from probably leftover football tickets

Completely agree. I got tickets just for synchronised swimming (ask my 12 year-old daughter if any explanations required...) and so cannot apply. Ridiculous.

Maybe best to check the Olympics site as to where to buy tickets. Many of the tickets got sold months ago and there are restrictions on where you can buy tickets from depending what country you live in. But it is believed that there are some resale tickets to be made available some time. More info on this site.

More Olympic tickets are being released for sale this Friday 11th May.
See BBC article here. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17987673)

Some 900,000 Olympic tickets are going back on sale, starting on Friday for a group of people who were unsuccessful in the ballot and second chance sales. The 20,000 fans will have an exclusive 31-hour window from 11:00 on 11 May in which to purchase up to four tickets for a single event.

A million other unsuccessful ballot applicants can then apply for tickets from 13-17 May.
Unsold and Olympic Park tickets will then be made available to the public.

Sallydaisy

Ground passes could be very good - probably better earlier in the week.
Means you can watch play on all the outer courts (first come first served for the seating but up close to the players) and you get into the grounds so can sit on Henman Hill to watch on the big screen. Bear in mind there will be a lot going on with Mens and Ladies singles, Mens and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles too.
I'd go for it .......

Locog has said it is releasing new tickets for sale from 29 May, to "help more people get to the Games". These tickets are:

Cycling Road Race at Box Hill, Surrey
Cycling Individual Time Trial at Hampton Court Palace
There will also be tickets available for Wimbledon which will provide access to The Hill and the big screen only
The Orbit - for those who already have access to the Olympic Park on the day they wish to visit the Orbit

Hello everyone!
After an hour and a half on the Olympics tix website last week, I managed to get ONE ticket (Category A) for Court 1 for the first round on Saturday 28th of July. From my understanding the first day will be the Men's singles first round. Anyone know when the final draw and schedule might be out? I'm keen to see Rafa play, so just wondering if anyone might want to do a seat "swap" on the day ie if Rafa plays on Centre Court and if Andy plays on Court 1?

London 2012: Many tickets for Olympics remain unsold ...

The BBC has learned that nearly a third of the Olympics tickets which went on sale earlier this month remain unsold.

The London 2012 organisers had expected that the 928,000 tickets would all be snapped up quickly by eager buyers, but that has not proved to be the case.
There are still more than 20 sessions with availability for sports like boxing, basketball, beach volleyball and weightlifting.

Report here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18209178)from the BBC website.

Hi Rafafan.
The draws will be done a couple of days ahead of play starting so it's impossible, before then, to get an idea about who'll play when. We'll post more information as soon as it is available.

Unfortunately, those are what you'd call 'ghost tickets' - a lot of these ticket sites seem to have glitches in updating their inventory. It's a testament to how poor the process has been. Hi Jaysee - not sure if this will help. It's an update from the PR peeps at Locog.

LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend said, ‘With 50 days to go there are still plenty of ways to join in and be part of London 2012. We are at advance stages of venue planning and these represent the final release of Ceremonies and other sport tickets tickets.

'Over the next few weeks we will release further tickets for other Olympic sports and keep people informed when tickets are available. We are delighted with ticket sales to date, and have sold another one million tickets in the last four weeks, prioritising people who were unsuccessful last time around.'

They're quite restrictive on drinks, favouring the air travel limit of 100ml (no alcohol allowed at all), and bag size is limited to 25 litres, but they appear to be quite relaxed on the camera front - my understanding is that, as long as none of your equipment is longer than 30cm, you're good to go...

I think I read on one of the many pages that if you empty your water bottle before going through security, there will then be places in most of the venues where you can refill it, rather than having to pay for expensive drinks. e.g. we know that there are water fountains underneath centre court and no 1 court at Wimbledon.

Edit: confirmed in the e-mail that's just arrived: You can bring food, provided it fits in your bag, and an empty plastic water bottle to fill up inside the venue. You cannot bring in liquids over 100ml.

A friend posted on facebook that she had just made a rash decision and bought tennis tickets so I went and checked the site and the first week was available ..seems to have all gone now, managed to get a couple of the £65 ones the rest were £85 from the third round onwards

Yep SallyDaisy got to the quarterfinals and enjoyed every minute except for the torrential rain at 5am on the morning of the tennis trying to put the tent away

Normal Wimbledon allows you to take in food if you have a dietary allergy.
Not sure about the Olympics but I'd have thought it reasonable to allow the same.
I guess you'll all have to take a full rucksack!!!

That is a pain. Can you carry a letter or something to say they have allergies. Mind you, maybe you could spread the load between the three of you rather than you carrying it all.

I wonder what happens to those who cannot tolerate tap water or mineral water in plastic bottles. I doubt there would be mineral water in glass bottles on site.

We do have a doctor's letter for Nick's Epipens, which we have to have for flying, so I guess that should help and as you say there are actually 4 of us so we'll have to spread the load! ;)

I've got Centre Court tickets on Sunday, though I think Xenon knows that aleady.

Also, I have a ticket to next Wednesday's rowing finals at Eton Dorney going free if anyone is interested - it has become spare this late because the person originally going with me now has a Games Maker shift that clashes and another family member who was going to take it has injured their leg and doesn't want to risk making the trip.

It's Cat A (face value £ 150) so not too far from the finish and just 16 rows back. We could meet on the day for a ticket handover, but it would probably be better if I sent the ticket by special delivery on Saturday or Monday, since then we could then both get there at our own pace and not have to hunt for each other in the queue to get in.

The session code is RO005 - full details of the events in that session are at http://bit.ly/MK898h - it includes:

- the women's pair Final, where Helen Glover & Heather Stanning are the favourites for the gold medal and 10th in the list of top 20 GB gold medal hopes in the Times this week
- the women's quad sculls Final, an outside chance of a medal in quite an open race from what I can gather
- the always exciting men's eight, in which the GB crew (including 40-year-old Greg Searle, who first won a gold medal in Barcelona 20 years ago!) also has medal hopes, though would require a big upset to beat the Germans for gold
- various semis with British interest and classification races

If you are interested, the quickest way to get in touch is to DM me on Twitter (either @gbtennis or @botb1) if we follow each other, @ message me on Twitter(again, either account is ok) or if you are not on Twitter, just pm me here.

More Olympic tickets being released .... but read the full article (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19048918) before getting too excited.

More Olympic tickets will go on sale after the row over empty seats, organisers Locog have said. It said an initial 3,000 tickets - including 600 gymnastics tickets - were "put back into the pot" and sold on the London 2012 website on Sunday night.

More tickets returned by sports federations would be released the night before events, Locog added.

Don't know if this is the right thread for this, but does anyone know how early we need to arrive at Wimbledon if we have ground passes for tomorrow? Has anyone else experienced times needed to get in and find a seat? .... I am guessing we would be best to head for Court 2 depending on tomorrows schedule of course.

We arrived at the courts about 11.15 on Saturday and were seated on court 2 just after 11.30 (we had court 1 tickets for the day). Security was fast and very similar to airport security, if you minimise what you take as much as possible you should be fine :)

I think most forum members who've been so far had tickets for Centre or One.

Incredible how empty the courts are - it's only just gone 7.30pm.

Centre Court probably has only 15/20% of the seats occupied for Ferrer v Kavcic.
I know it was an extra match so some people might have left thinking play was over for the day but at the moment they could get everyone with a ground pass into the stadium and with room to spare!!!

Court 1 still not full for Heather's match either.

One of the problems is that they're not operating a "returns" policy as they do at Wimbledon proper, so if people leave early, their tickets go to waste. Also, being the Olympics, there are more people there from other nations than normal, and they may be watching their own stars on outside courts, leaving their Centre or Court One seats temporarily empty.

I know when Dave & I were there on Saturday, we did watch a couple of matches on Centre, but then went over to Court 2 to wait for Andy/Jamie - so from that point our Centre Court seats were technically empty...

What I don't understand is why they didn't sell tickets to court 2 as they do normally  As much as I liked being able to go there and watch Andy at the weekend it would have been much less empty all day had they sold tickets for the early stage of the tournament.

OLYMPIC TENNIS - TICKET RESALES AT WIMBLEDON

Those with ground passes (or who want to get onto a different showcourt) can queue for Showcourt resale tickets as normal at Wimbledon. Xenon waited an hour this morning but got the first ticket available for Centre.

75, 000 more tickets for Olympic events available.
Daily Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/news/9444917/75000-more-Olympic-tickets-to-go-on-sale-including-1600-coveted-athletics-seats.html)

Locog, the company running the Games, said that the final conversion of the stadium after last week’s opening ceremony had opened up several spaces in which seats can now be placed. The 75,000 extra tickets do not include football games, for which around 200,000 seats are still unsold.

Up to 1,600 coveted Olympic athletics tickets are to be released at the last minute.

Paul Deighton, Locog’s chief executive, said that a significant number of the new tickets will be for the Olympic athletics, which starts on Saturday.

Mr Deighton said: “You can expect to see quite a few athletics tickets shortly because e we converted the stadium from the green and pleasant land that we had on Friday night into an athletic stadium.

Just a bit of information about the ticket resales

Today they had a bunch of return tickets at the resale desk (same place as usual at the top of Henman hill near court 18) first thing in the morning. If you are early enough, maybe 10 a.m or earlier and you head straight to the resale queue you may be lucky with one of those tickets. If not it may be a matter of waiting for court 1 or centre court tickets. While I was waiting some court 1 tickets did come back but I was holding out for centre. The usual time some may be returned is about 2 apparently. There possibly aren't as many returns as at the usual Wimbledon championships purely got the fact that people may not know that there is a resale policy and they can get their tickets scanned

Just to let you know that te resale policy is only available to those who have ground passes! If you have centre or court 1 they encourage you to try and find someone to swap with. Once in a blue moon they may help you with it. I guess they do it this way to try and ensure as many people as possible can access show courts

I was lucky enough to be first in the queue and got a centre court ticket after about an hour. It was for row ZC tickets but I was there for Novak and Andy match. And for Andy's match I spotted a few seats in row S so moved down :)

Was lucky that though it didn't usually happen Andy came down the media centre to sign for fans below. Apparently the players don't usually do that so lovely of him!

Also is lovely to be able to see players practise up so close and just randomly pass by you :)

Note to those with Ground Passes - it's worth noting that on Court 18 they were operating a very strict policy of keeping all seats full and saying that even if you went out to the loo you would have to rejoin the queue outside. We managed to get out a couple of times always taking one or other of the kids with us to use as emotional blackmail to get back in or sending the 2 of them together hoping they wouldn't make them wait outside alone! It worked but we were only brave enough to do it during rain breaks. We got on to 18 about 10.30am easily but it filled up pretty quickly from that time.

The Hill seemed not to be very crowded at any point during the day.

Re-sale - We came out of 18 after the Tsonga/Lopez match just as Andy and Baggy were starting and were planning to sit on the Hill when we noticed only a very short queue at the re-sale booth. After approx 5 mins we were at the front and had 4 Centre Court tickets (Adults £5, kids £1) for £12, right at the bottom level, row D, to the left of the umpire! There are a lot less people than during The Championships and the re-sale was not advertised in anyway so my impression is that not many people realised it was an option ..... I guess as the days go by and the word gets out this may not remain the case.

We felt incredibly lucky and thrilled that we could share this as a whole family.:flowers:
