Decided to opt for TennsisTV for a month as there are some more tournaments coming up that Amazon Prime may not cover. There is an app for it on my smartTV.

I haven't yet and I am amazed at the standard of streams now compared to the old Andy days!

Break point to get back on serve as Nando serves for the first set... Not taken.

First set to Nando

Argh, that net cord on break point. First set Nando but doesn't matter. More important is Andy was 2 breaks down but still fighting right to the end of the set. Completely different to the zombie play at Flushing Meadows and Roland Garros. Somewhere in the back of his mind I think he was worried about best of 5. Bit rusty but fully engaged today. Come on Andy! :cheer:

Another couple of break points go a-begging as Nando serves for the match...

Sadly, that was as good as it got as Nando wins 6-4 6-4. Andy had another couple of break points, but couldn’t quite get a chance to take one.

Andy so close at the end of both sets, but just a little rusty. Miiiiiiiles better than recent slam performances. Another chance next week. Hopefully a kinder first round and a bit of momentum

But a much more heartening performance than RG. My heart goes out to him because it must be so frustrating for him to want to progress so much and just fall short. x

Glimpses of the old Andy.
First serve Though needs a lot of work - he’s really struggling to get it in. And if he did it would really help his game.Other shots were timing and accuracy but just more practice needed. Sometimes he just stands there and doesn’t run for the ball - that seems to be new and is that to do with the hip or what.
My daughter thought he was upset and signalling today the team about his breathing. I didn’t notice that but I’m sure there’s a significant psychological impact of coming out not playing as you want to, especially with people talking about it so much.

He’s a brave man Andy Murray - I admire him so much - he doesn’t have to do this. He’s going to want to start seeing some results soon though I think

Certainly disappointing to go out in straights, though chances to come back at the end- maybe was more positive than RG. Hopefully bit of kinder draw in opening round next week, though will need to step up.

Absolutely! After everything, I'll settle for that. I loved his outfit tonight. I've always thought blue is his colour. Here's to next week.

The most frustrating thing is not getting the match practice he so badly needs.

The only real solution is to drop down a level as many others have suggested.

Andy knows what is best for him. If you remember last year he lost in the early rounds, then started wining more matches and finished off winning Antwerp.

Could the way Andy is playing be because the court is slow (Similar to Paris) and maybe now with his hip he struggles to accommodate that pace in some way?

Just wondering because we saw a livelier Andy who Played better and even beat Zverev In New York.

Absolutely Andy knows best. But last year Andy played a challenger event (Mallorca) for the first time since 2005. It was there that he first got the wins that built his confidence and changed his losing streak. That was in the August and he won Antwerp in the October. It didn't take long to get back to consistent wins, getting the first momentum seemed the hardest and I hope a challenger event can help him again. Or even better, a decent run at the next Cologne event:thumbup:

I wonder if he feels awkward about taking up a space in a challenger and denying someone, more needing of money, a place?
