Some of you may have noticed that it's started snowing in here - don't panic, it's perfectly safe and you won't need a snow shovel to log on to the forum! In fact, we have given you magical power over the white fluffy stuff. On the top banner, next to where it says "Welcome <insert your name here>" is a clickable thing marked "Snow OFF". Go on, play with it - you know you want to!

Don't stare at it too hard - you could get snow blindness. ;)

Spotted the snow just now - very nice!
Something else I spotted a while ago - and it's only a comment, definitely NOT a criticism - is that the pic of Andy is back to front. I'd thought for a while that it just didn't look quite right, then realised he's holding his racket in his left hand, and the Fred Perry logo is on the wrong side. As I say, I'm not wanting to make an issue of it and I really appreciate all that's done in keeping this forum going!

Well spotted Jan - I hadn't even noticed that myself and I made the banner :big grin:

Dave provided the photo for it, so I guess he must have flipped it before handing it over - I will ask :)

Well spotted indeed! I flipped the image so that Andy looks in towards the page rather than off to the left. As you say, it means he has become left handed, but no-one noticed until now!

I would have liked it a lot better if I hadn't woken up this morning to find real snow coming down! Virtual snow is nice, real snow is a nuisance when you have to be out and about.

I hate all this techy jargon. What is it in normal language?

Oh good grief

It's a bit of writing, dear, up at the top - UP AT THE TOP! It says "Snow OFF" and if you click on it (yes, that's right, with the mouse) it will switch the snow off. Yes, the SNOW. It'll go OFF. ;)

(Sorry, we don't seem to have a tongue-in-cheek smiley - note to self - need to find one :big grin:)

Nope - not entirely - hence the tongue-in-cheek reference :)

If I should have, then I apologise :shamed:

Not at all - nobody's ever taken me seriously before! "a clickable thing" just sounded funny but don't know what else you'd call it lol.

Merry Christmas everyone! Why the snow? It's flaming hot down here! (Where's a cheeky Santa when you need one?)

Well, the Aussie media is running ads for the tennis season, with particular mention to Aussie teenagers who are doing well and have qualified or won wildcards to the Open, as well as hoping that now Stosur's won her first slam, she'll take home an Aussie one! Don't worry, I'm still cheering for Andy - I faithfully vote for him to win in every poll I come across :shades: :santa dance:

One thing I am pleased about - Andy going to Brisbane. He'll be able to accrue points, something he wouldn't get at the Hopman Cup.

Why did it take me so long to figure out that if you moved the cursor from left to right the snow would re-direct. Easily amused :p

:crying: Not even the Epiphany yet and festive page gone!!! Thanks anyway for celebrating Christmas and New Year!! Traditionally decorations are taken down on 12th Night which, according to the Christian Church is the 5th January. Many churches keep cribs in situ until after the 6th to welcome the visit of the three kings to the infant Jesus. Many people regard the 6th as the 12th Night. I always take my trees, cribs etc down on the afternoon of the 6th. Always a bit sad when everything is packed away.

Sorry, Linda & Maureen - that was the consensus, as most people have now gone back to work/school - it's sad when it's all over, though, I agree.

We still have our :xmas2: up, but it will probably come down tonight...

We took down the Christmas cards today but we'll leave the tree up until Friday. But the tree in church stays up until Candlemas!

Our tree and decorations are coming down on Friday .... a couple of years ago, our tree in church was taken down and stored in the garden then returned to church for Easter in the form of a cross - it was very moving indeed!

Linda
04-01-2012, 20:37
We've done that in our church too - the tree/cross was used for the Way of the Cross on Good Friday.

So did I and it was but was thinking it's all good because although it's sad to see the tree and decs down it's also nice to get your room back the way it was with more space. I have a BIG tree! Will miss the snow on here though!!!

The mad woman who lives opposite has her tree all lit up tonight as usual. One year it was about the 15th when she took it down. She is an attention seeker and my neighbours, who are friends, and I rarely give her any so the more outlandish things she can do - she does! A retired teacher, she had an old school bell which she used to ring at midnight on New Year's Eve. She would come out and stand in the middle of the road. She would also play very loud music until the early hours which distressed her next door neighbours.
