We're just a few days away from the start of the Australian Open and that means it's TFFDreamteam registration time for the 2021 season.

From now until 11.59pm (23:59) GMT (UK time) on Sunday 7th February you can pick 10 men & 10 ladies from a fantasy budget of £100m for the Australian Open and pitch your tennis prediction skills against other TFFDreamteam managers. The game is FREE to play but we welcome donations as the game is run by the Tennis For Free Charity and your donations help support the delivery of the game and also help us to deliver our charitable tennis objectives on grass roots communities throughout the UK.

The advantage of this year’s tournament is that the qualifiers and wild cards have all been added already, so any changes from this point on should be minor.

I can't help it. I'm just a genius ;)

I looked at the first round of the men's draw and looked at qualifiers and wild cards who I thought might possibly win the first round and then chose a bunch of them as I needed 4 or 5 so I could get all my semifinalists in. I may have looked a couple up. Can't remember. I thought Alcaraz and Kokkinakis would have been the best of the bunch and they got into the second round. Karatsev didn't have such a tough draw for second round as some qualifiers if he did win the first round. I didn't go for the middle priced men as did not do a pickem to look at the draw in detail. Just decided to go for those at the top and the bottom.

Summary of where we stand...

We are 16th in the mini-league tables. The Murraynators are 4th bottom. :shades:

Despite leading our mini-league by her usual country mile, cazza is only 49th overall. She has a finalist in both the men’s and the women’s, and may end up with both men. Needs a Medvedev win.

Genbrit will most likely finish 2nd, is guaranteed a men’s finalist as she has both of the players in the second semi, and has one of the women’s finalists.

banskogirl will probably finish third. She has a finalist in both the men’s and the women’s, but even if it is a very one-sided win for Nole in the final she is unlikely to claw back the deficit she will have after the second semi.

Sally will occupy the relegation play-off place. If Medvedev loses tonight she will be the only one of us not to have a finalist, but she is far enough ahead of me for that not to matter.

As predicted, I am rock bottom. If Medvedev wins tonight I will have both men’s finalists, but that will be scant consolation for my woeful performance, especially in the women’s competition.
