Andy is staying on in Biella to take part in the higher level Challenger (125) this week.
His first opponent is Federico Gaio[ITA] who last week was the 2nd seed at Biella-1(80).
The Italian is currently ranked #140 (CH124 in 2020) to Andys' #125.
They've never met before so the H2H is 0-0. (https://www.atptour.com/en/players/atp-head-2-head/andy-murray-vs-federico-gaio/MC10/GB53)
The match isn't on the schedule for Monday or Tuesday so it'll be Wednesday sometime.
I reckon Andy will be glad of the day off.
Looks like Andy will not be playing till Wednesday. He probably needs the rest!!

You beat me to the post but at least he is still shown as being in the tournament!
The problem with that is that it back-ends the week if he does well, with the possibility of playing 5 successive days. I think Tuesday and then Thursday would give him more chance of progressing.
hi Hawkeye, didn't recognise you! where are your car keys? hope you haven't you been towed away?

I think Tue/Thu would have been good too. Perhaps he's trying to see how he holds up playing 5 consecutive days? Or it could just be that it's quite usual for players who went deep into the previous weeks' tournaments to be playing their R1 as late as possible at the next one.
See y'all @ 11am tomorrow! :jitterbug:
ok, 6am for me, which is doable. In case I miss the start how do you watch it on the ATP site from the beginning? Do you have to choose live, close your eyes so you don't see the score and manage to rewind to the beginning??? or is there an easier way??? :help::shrug:
Honestly, if I was you, get up at your usual time, avoid social media and then go and watch the full match replay.
Thanks Hawkeye, yes I'll see what time I wake up. Unfortunately I wont know what time he started or if it's finished. I suspect I'll be awake early as I know Andy is playing, ha!!ha!!

Andy Murray was due to play at the Biella Challenger in about a couple of hours but he has withdrawn, deciding instead to head to Montpellier tomorrow and use the next few days to prepare for his full ATP tour return next week.

Think it would have been tough to play 3 consecutive weeks (particularly with late start), makes sense to concentrate on the 250.

Sensible I suppose but I wish I’d read this earlier :facepalm:I just raced to the shop, got the fire set and threw myself on the sofa ready!
Well Andy must feel good with all these plans
I’m off to make myself a pavlova to drown my sorrows! :crying:

Obviously we don’t know what he is thinking, but I am trying to see this as a positive move for Andy. If he had got knocked out early last week, then no doubt he would have been keen to play this week.
But it has scuppered my plans for today.;) I have got a couple of days off!
aaah, hope he is ok. Think it is a wise choice. Back to bed for me!!!!!!

Official reason given for Andy Murray's withdrawal this morning is "hip post surgery", although it sounds like he needs some recovery after last week before playing Montpellier next week.
