2019 W/L 11/7
Andy continued to have rehab for 3 months at the end of 2018 but, in January 2019, after playing just 3 matches in Australia it was clear the pain had become too great. He gave an emotional post-match interview which indicated he thought his playing career might be over.
2 weeks later he had his hip 'resurfaced' which involves a metal cap on one part and a metal lining on the other to enable easy and painfree movement
There was still hope ... and he not only came back to the tour but won a title in Antwerp in October to the astonishment of many who had written him off (always a dodgy tactic).
He travelled with the GBR squad (who had a WC) to the revised Davis Cup Finals event but, after the first match which he found a struggle (having put on a few kilos more than he needed!), he didn't participate further.
