Unfortunately Tsonga went down to Gerasimov 6-3,6-4. Camila Giorgi has put out defending champion Karolina Pliskova 2-6,6-2,6-2. Jay Clarke is currently a set and a break down to John Millman at 3-6,1-3. May be tough to stay in contention. Harriet Dart battled back against Elena Rybakina but lost 6-2,6-7,6-4.

22-06-2021, 15:23
Also v good match between Paula Badosa and Elena Svitolina which Svitolina scraped through on a final set tie-break

JAMES4578
22-06-2021, 15:39
yes was tough for Svitolina, Ostapenko eased past French runner up Pavlyuchenkova 6-1,6-3. Millman has just beaten Clarke 6-3,6-2 and Bulik also through 6-1,6-4 over Kukushkin.

themass15
22-06-2021, 15:45
Heather was playing well but put in several doubles faults and, as a result, lost the first set

JAMES4578
22-06-2021, 16:43
Good fight in the 2nd and Heather was up 4-2, however now going into the breaker which Watson takes 7-4!

exislander

She is up 3-1 in decider!

JAMES4578
22-06-2021, 17:18
Heather controlling matters now, in good position with double break at 4-1! Broken back though 4-2.

themass15
22-06-2021, 17:31
Unfortunately back on equal terms

JAMES4578
22-06-2021, 17:34
Heather might be letting this slip and Swiatek stepping up as she leads 5-4. Good game from Heather though as she makes it 5 all.

Swiatek takes it in the end 7-5. some disappointing errors from Heather at crucial times, however still showing better form on the grass though will be a bit gutting.

Liam Broady doing really well taking first set 6-3 from Tiafoe.

JAMES4578
22-06-2021, 19:54
Broady gets the win 6-3,7-6 (7-4) well done! Tiafoe maybe not in the best frame of mind, unhappy with the light fairly early on, he did have 6bps in the 2nd but Liam held on and was fairly impressive. Coco Gauff came back from being bagelled in the first to get the better of 7th seed Elise Mertens 0-6,7-6(7-4), 7-5. Fucsovics has put out Bedene in a 3rd set breaker (7-3)

Impressive win from Liam this evening. Such a broad (no pun intended!) grin on his face during his post match interview. Delighted for him.

Top seeds Gael Monfils unfirtunately went down to Lucky loser Max Purcell 6-4,5-7,6-4 but not having the best of times, Seppi was another lucky loser who progressed along with 3rd seed Sonego and 8th seed Bublik. Coco Gauff was on the verge of victory at 5-2 in 2nd but faltered and Sevastova turned it right round taking 2nd 7-5 and 3rd 6-2. 2nd seed Elina Svitolina had a tough time with Elena Rybakina and whilst recovered break in 2nd went down 6-4,7-6. Camila Giorgi through to the quarters over Shelby Rogers 6-2 in 3rd and Ostapenko ended the run of Ons Jabeur 5-7,6-4,6-3.

Jamie/Luke still going well at 3-1 up in 2nd, keep going! Wondered why Bruno was not playing this week though.

Jane

Jamie and Luke win 6-4, 6-4. Well done, lads. :cheer:

JAMES4578

A good win against the 4th seeds, well done Jamie/Luke!:clap: 3rd seed Bianca Andreescu also out going down 6-3,6-3 to Anett Konteveit. Liam on now against De Minaur.

exislander
23-06-2021, 18:40
De Minaur had to work to beat Liam 6-3 6-4

Ram/Salisbury won 7-5 6-3 but Skupskis went out to Nys/O'Mara in 10-8 tie-break.

JAMES4578
23-06-2021, 18:44
Yes Liam gave a pretty good account of himself but Di Minaur was stronger on most of the crucial points. Good for Ram/Salisbury, pity about tough loss for Skupskis. Daria Kasatkina storms back to put out Iga Swiatek 4-6,6-0,6-1.

No seeds left in the wonen's event after top seed Arnya Sabalenka went down to Italian qualifier Camilia Giorgi (though she had previous big wins on grass) 7-6,0-6,6-4. Sabalenka seems more affected by the conditions but did lead 3-1 in 3rd after storming through 2nd. Earlier another Italian Lorenzo Sonego the 3rd seed in the Men's for the most part was in control against Alexander Bublik comung through 6-1,7-5.

JAMES4578
25-06-2021, 16:45
Women's Final will be between Jelena Ostapenko and Anett Kontaveit, unfortunately Camila Giorgi had to retire at 4-5 down v Kontaveit in 1st whilst Ostapenko won 6-4,6-1 over Elena Rybakina . Rybakina also had injury timeout but was able to continue. The Men's final will be between 2nd seed Alex Di Minaur and 3rd seed Lorenzo Sonego. De Minaur has just beaten lucky loser Soonwoo Kwan 6-3,7-6 whilst Sonego put out another licky loser Max Purcell 6-1,3-6,6-1. Due to weather delay the Men played on Court 1, whilst the Women were on centre.

They lucked out there, probably because the BBC only show the WTA event.

JAMES4578
26-06-2021, 17:05
Good contest between de Minaur and Sonego with Alex De Minaur taking the title 4-6,6-4,7-6 (7-5) . Whilst thought De Minaur would win very tight in the end. It was pretty straiightforward for Jelena Ostapenko as he took the crown 6-3,6-3 over Anett Kontaveit. The Latvian though who was a wild card showing good form this week and was strong on return even if the Estonian did not have best day.

Much better match by the men than the women!
