Hello AMFF'ers and DC goers ...

There's an opportunity for an AMFF group booking to go to Innsbruck/Madrid this
coming November to support the British Davis Cup team at the DC Finals.
I've heard from the LTA and they are holding tickets for us and other groups
so you do not need to buy tickets from the public 'on-sale' tomorrow 27th May 2021.

The LTA understands that this might be a tricky decision for some of you and are doing what they can to make DC attendance easier for regular groups by giving us time to gather numbers. They have also looking at ways to help with onward travel to Madrid should GBR reach the SF.

Please let me know if you are interested in coming by Monday 31st May
so I can give the LTA an idea of numbers for AMFF.

For your information:-

Great Britain will play their Group C Round Robin group matches at
Olympiahalle, Innsbruck, Austria, during 25-30 November 2021.

Sat 27 Nov, 10am: GB v France
Sun 28 Nov, 10am: GB v Czech Republic
Tues 30 Nov, 4pm: Quarter Final match between winners of Groups C & F
(Group C = GBR, FRA, CZE. Group F = Austria, Germany, Serbia)

1-2 Dec: move to Madrid if GBR win through
3-5 Dec: SFs and Final in Madrid

ALL INFORMATION IS GIVEN IN GOOD FAITH AT THIS TIME.
The COVID-19 pandemic is still unpredictable globally and could yet cause plans to change.
If you are thinking of going we suggest making cancellable bookings for hotels (booking.com).
Some Air and Rail travel schedules are not yet fixed for the latter half of the year so you might
not be able to organise travel until later in the year when any restrictions are made clear.

I would love to go but felt very vulnerable after the Final in Belgium when the train home was cancelled and I was told I would have to go and find a hotel for the night. I am too old now to risk that kind of occurrence especially as there is no one at home now to miss me if I didn't arrive back. I hope everyone that goes has a great time and I will be cheering in front of the television.

I feel the same. I'm just glad I went to Davis Cup in it's old format and have happy memories of my trips with AMFF. x

I am waiting for my hip to be done, so won’t be doing anything complicated at the moment.

I also don’t like this format.

Hope anyone who goes has a great time.

For me, the cost will be too prohibitive, I'm not ready yet to venture into the world again and I dislike (very much) what they've done to the DC. However, I have all my precious memories of previous (proper) DCs, and for that I'm so grateful to have had the experience. I think I'll stick with those memories for now. Seeing Sally's post, however, did give me pangs of nostalgia. All the best to the team and to those who will travel. Enjoy!

Thanks Sally but too many reasons for me not to be able to go. The UK might be coming out of lockdown but respite is moving nowhere. I’m not as gutted as I would normally be though with it being the new format. How many can really take time off, just in case their team goes further?

For all who go, I hope you have much to cheer!

Sorry Sally but we have too many other commitments at this time to make the trip this year. Thank you for giving us the opportunity. Have fun everyone who is able to go.

Thank you for the opportunity but I won't be going. The two cities for unknown durations format holds little appeal which is just as well since it is prohibitive for me both financially and logistically.

:bravo: Pique.

Same for me, will be a no go like everyone else, don't like the new forum so going to remember all the other great, fun times we had at DC especially Ghent xx

Thanks for the opportunity but I will not be going either for similar reasons. I would not wish to spend too much money on the new format and with the two cities becomes even more problematic, in any case do not think I would want to go abroad this year. Certainly have some great memories though and hope those who do attend enjoy it, however the competition is not the same to me now.

Thanks Sally, but we (Hubbie and I) have decided not to travel abroad this year. Hoping next year will bring more reassurance and at least 2 holidays!

Work takes all concerns re covid/ foreign travel etc out of the equation for me - venues not do-able in term time, But thanks for the offer ... good to know we still get the chance. One day ...

Who is planning to go to the Davis Cup this year? Only messages on here saying not going so far

Sadly no-one from AMFF will be going to this event. It's a huge shame but a combination of illnesses and travel logistics together with worries about Covid-19 and possible last minute lockdowns have deterred even the most dedicated Davis Cup forum members.

But we'll be back!!!

Oh dear, no takers. Unsurprisingly, neither Pique Cup nor the ATP Cup have made a profit since inception. This year not likely to change that. Talk of merger being only way forward. How depressingly predictable.
