Not the best game as was broken at 2 all but has now held for 3-4, come on! First set Berrettini 6-3. The italian serving well but hopefully Andy can make more inroads.
First set gone - 3-6
Hard to beat all those aces

The big servers haven't escaped Andy in the past - he's just match rusty.

Have not been giving this match the attention it deserves due to Wimby ticket stress. C'mon Andy get in there

It's been a struggle for Andy today, as James said a few glimmers but some way short of match fitness. Still nice to see him back and see some good points. Eventually held 2-4

Berretini beats Andy Murray 6'3, 6'3!
The Italians' serve was too hot to handle and Murrays' was a bit on the weak side today.
Keep going Andy!

Not too disappointed. Let's hope Andy can build on this week

Knew it would be a lot tougher today and whilst hoped Andy would do a bit better not really too surprising. Berrettini was on form and Andy was just not sharp enough, the lack of match play showed. However hopefully can move forward and improve, was good to see him back anyway!
That's 2 more much needed matches under the belt. It's got to be good for Andy to play the likes of Berrettini, will give him some valuable info as to where he is. All part of the come back plan. Just great to see him still so keen to compete

From Enrico Maria Riva (https://twitter.com/enricomariariva):
First Italian men’s victory on grass over a former Wimbledon champion
since Caratti d. McEnroe in 1991 Manchester
From Berretini:
Berrettini on beating Andy Murray: 'It was really hard. We all know who Andy is, he's a great champion, a great player. He's always there even in the last games so I'm really happy for my performance.'
Tumaini Caryol (https://twitter.com/tumcarayol)
The good news for Andy Murray is that his movement is the least of his worries. However, he looked uncomfortable and rusty the few times he tried to step in and control rallies. Clearly needs a consistent run of tournaments and matches. We'll see if his body allows that.

I thought I would feel worse about a loss but happy to see Andy going for every shot. Hoping this means he's just rusty and not sore (well no more than normal after a match) but he seemed to be getting the hang of Matteo's serve more and more as the match went on and then relaxing more which made his own serve flow. Funny but I was thinking, if this was 5 sets!
Hoping Andy will get a few more matches on grass this summer. Perhaps some more before Wimbledon.
Just lovely seeing him play, doing what he loves and what we love to watch!

Completely agree with the comments that Andy's movement looked good and that's the most important thing. The rustiness can be shaken off if he can get a string of matches, though not easy to break the vicious circle of needing matches but not being able to get them. The biggest question will of course be recovery - the talent hasn't gone anywhere but how will his body respond to the last couple of matches. Fingers x'd he takes a wildcard into Eastbourne. That would be a good sign! If he stays fit there's still time to iron out wrinkles and sharpen up for Wimbo. Good luck Andy, but most of all have fun
I know Andy's heart is not wholly in doubles but I do wish he had taken up Feli's offer of a doubles partnership at Queen's, their previous win being one of my all time favourite memories. At the very least it would have been more match play, especially with most of our other boys going out.
Maybe I imagined this, but I got the impression during Carol Kirkwood's interview with somebody at Queens earlier this week that the event could be moved indoors if the weather was really bad. Did anybody else hear that?
I didn't, but in the past they have played indoors when necessary. I think no spectators and no tv coverage though.

He’s said he’s not playing in Eastbourne because of the COVID bubbles.
There have been exhibition matches before. I wonder if anything like that around this year?

Both the Boodles and Hurlingham have been cancelled. I think that is why Djokovic is playing doubles in Mallorca and Medvedev is playing singles. I was hoping some big names might take wild cards into Eastbourne but haven't seen anything to that effect.
