Meanwhile a statement from Taylor Fritz who called the medics onto court in his match
and lost to Duckworth 6'7, 3'6
Hey guys...I’m okay probably one of the weirdest things I’ve ever experienced...
heart was going absolutely crazy for no reason, I only continued cause it was so odd I thought it maybe would go away and I really hate quitting even if it was probably the smart thing to do
For which he got a load of abuse on from those in the betting 'game' ...
And to all the gamblers giving me the typical death threats for not pulling out, I’m really not concerned about your degenerate gambling addictions while I’m playing a match

Dan's still not himself but definitely looked better than against Kei. I hoped he was asymptomatic but apparently he was pretty rough and bed-ridden for 5 or 6 days, so will take a while to bounce back. Think he's doing very well all things considered.

So I went on Thursday evening and got to see Medvedev beat Duckworth rather too easily, then it was a fab and very close three set match between Basil. and Hurkacz. We were situated right above the entrance/exit so when HH left after his practice before the first match, I waved and wished him good luck and told him I hoped he would win and he was really sweet and thanked me profusely. And after his own match a few hours later he gave everything away to the Polish fans. One guy next to me asked him for his shirt but he apologised and said he needed it. What a sweet and humble guy!
Covid protocols meant no one was allowed out of stadium to see other matches on other courts and none of the food or other outlets were open for business either. So we brought a picnic with us so that was fun and different and we saved a ton of $$$. Felt very different this year. I was disappointed Andy didn't play and very sad that Rafa withdrew because I had driven to Montreal in 2019 to see him in his semi-final and his opponent withdrew so Rafa didn't play at all. Also sad that the male Canadian players did not get past the second round.
Anyway, well done to Medvedev. I think he's got a great chance to win the US Open. I hope he does.
