So qualifying begins in 2 days. We will be using that time to try out some new chants & to have a look at Melbourne Park to see what is different this year.

I have put the singlets in today to have the lettering done, should be done by Thursday. (not cheap!!)

We also have a possibility of going to Andy's game at Kooyong on Friday as I have a connection there, but we will see how things go.

2 DAYS PEOPLE!!! :cheer:

Now you can have a few more new chants mentioning the forum "We know our decorum" "Andymurrayfan forum" is a feeble attempt.
Let's go ANdy let's go, hello from andy murray fan forum..... just to liven it up.
Of course you could earn a fortune doing requests :))))))))) "Let's go Andy, let's go, Get this point for......"

Just got back from the final day of qualifying (Kids Day), and it was surprisingly packed!

Went in at about 1pm, on the back of 4 hours sleep. Got into Melbourne Park to see a line that would have been atleast 100m long, for autograph's from a singer/dancer on Australian Television. Not really relevant to the Tennis if you ask me, but obviously he drew a lot of attention.

Watched the final set of the Bautista-Agut/Ghem match. Was of a pretty good standard, and the match had a decent following too.

Also caught the first set of the Robson/Savchuk match. Laura looked really good, definitely a lot of potential there. Very easy on the eye too! (If I am able to say that!)

From there, moved on to play a match of Mini Tennis. I shall post a picture of the courts next week, played with Nick (Who is the 'A'). Unfortunately I went down 6-0 6-3 4-6 6-2. Very happy with my first up efforts though!

Lunch was next on the agenda, so we left the tennis for a while to venture into the city, where we managed to lose all our tennis balls whilst hitting around through various parts of the Melbourne CBD!

We originally planned to leave after this, but the hunger of Mini Tennis being back for another year was too much to pass off! Went back to Melbourne Park and I unfortunately went down in straight sets, scoreline will remain a secret.

Managed to catch the last 15 minutes of the Stef Voegele & the beautiful, yet loud, Michelle Larcher de Brito. The match was in the third set and both women were giving it their all, with Michelle breaking down late in the game after failing to capitalise on a break point. Voegele ended up winning in the end to which Michelle extraordinally burst into tears, and then proceeded to break her racquet on the court, not shake the chair ump's hand and go to her chair and cry for the following 10 minutes! It was such a strange ending to it all, but you had to feel for her, she is only 18 years old & gave it so much. Just almost seemed a bit emotionally unstable.

By this time it was about 6.30-7pm so Nick & I decided one more hit of mini tennis couldn't hurt. To sum it up...Lost the first set 6-1, leading 3-2 in the second, security guard kicks us out as Melbourne Park is closing for the night, come home, find out the schedule for Monday on the way home, get home, realise I have been horribly sun burnt... and now here I am typing to everybody here in a lot of pain.

Rest day tomorrow, bring on Monday!!

We've got 1 player on Monday & 3 on Tuesday, can not wait!!

Day 1

Not a whole lot to say, as to be honest, my memory is not the greatest.

We pretty much just walked around Melbourne Park catching up with old friends and also made some new ones.

Went into the beer garden & found a bloke who works for Nova FM (big commercial radio station). Got talking to him and found out that he is a big Novak fan so I put a $100 bet that Andy will reach the semis. I am very confident about it too.

Saw Alize Cornet's match late on, which ended in a 3 set defeat for Alize. She burst into tears and it was painful to watch as she sets high standards for herself.

Linda

Day 2
The big day was finally here. We had a little bit on this day... Roger-Vasselin, Gael & Andy. Unfortunately Gael & Andy clashed with eachother in the schedule, so we chose Andy.

We had a few drinks on the way in and went to the Roger-Vasselin game. As much as I support him, I went in hoping he would lose as he would not vs Andy in the 2nd Round... This was not the case. Malisse retired hurt.

We met up with a few Brits beforehand who were surprisingly delighted to see us, and visa versa. As you all know Andy started off slow, and the thoughts actually entered our minds, what if he loses!? Thankfully, his game lifted and Harrison's big shots weren't paying off as well as the first set.

I think we did about 6-7 chants throughout the course of the match and from the get go the crowd were right into it, which made it more comfortable for us. We even managed a wave from Judy after our first chant! We have a few more chants coming, I just need to teach them to the boys.

After the game was all done we took off to have some beers with a few friends and some Brits we met earlier. We stayed around until about 11, catching a bit of the Tsonga game. Myself & Nathan (N) were a tad drunk & rowdy at this stage and Nathan went to go barrack for Tsonga with some girls we know. The drinks got the better of him as when it was quiet he yelled out.. "Come on Andy...I mean Gael...whoops, Jo!" It was hilarious.

Myself & Nathan then proceeded to do out hokey pokey chant for Istomin about 15 minutes later, slurring a couple words, forgetting some lyrics & actions and laughing through it. Safe to say we could not leave quicker, which we did.

18-01-2012, 10:34
Day 3

Got in today about 12, and walked around catching up with mates until the Bhupati/Bopanna vs Guccione/Ebden doubles game.

We support the Indians so we were completely up against it as we were supporting against the Australian crowd.

Such chants as "3-0" "Horrible cricket team" were brought up as the Aussie cricket team is currently beating India. We replied with "We've got the world cup in our hands" and "Sachin is better than Ponting" so it was all in good fun. Hesh and Rohan got up in 3 tough sets and we had a quick chat to the coach afterwards so it was good fun.

We also Caught the end of Novak training and we had a little banter with the fans, saying its too hot for him, he will have to retire! Had a chat to a passionate Novak fan about how Andy is having a better year than Djokovic as he has won more titles!

A couple of us watched the end of the Paes/Stepanek doubles game and then made our way through the exits.

Currently sitting on the couch and have just unfortunately witnessed Tomic go through to the 3rd round! :(

HUGE day tomorrow with Andy/Gael/Bryans/Jamie/Nestor all on at some point during the day.

Firstly went off to watch Nestor/Mirnyi make easy work of their opposition & then quickly popped into Jamie's game to have a look, disappointing way to go out, but he surprisingly in my opinion had a lot of British support there!

As the day wore on, I got a whole lot more sun burnt so I stuck to the insides of Hisense & as much shade as possible.

We got into the Andy game and quickly started off with a chant at the first break (EIEIO). As you know, we support Roger-Vasselin too, and once we started chanting he gave us a stare of almost disappointment & betrayal. Fair to say, we all felt guilty. We knew Andy was going to cruise through so we were not expecting too much of a Murray-coaster!

An easy win was followed up with a good chat with Judy as she came over to us asking for a picture. Unfortunately the 'D' had to take off ASAP so I was holding the singlet and offered Judy to wear it in the photo. Much to our delight, she did! Had a little chat with her and she said she will see us all Saturday!

We stuck around for a little longer and on the way out we walked passed the bloke with a microphone out front who does all the talking over the loud speaker about the days events etc. I asked him if I could tell a joke over the speakers and he said sure why not.

"I went to buy some camouflage pants today....I couldn't find any!"

Day 5

Later start for myself today as we only had the Bryan's game to watch.

Caught the brothers hitting up on an outside court and had a little fun with them. They were giving us catching practice by belting balls out of the court to us. Unfortunately there was a practice court behind us which was occupied at the time, a few balls astray and we were quick to vacate the area!

We also managed to see Daniel Nestor having a hit and had a little chat with him which was good!

The Bryan's game today was against Hewitt & Luczak. So we were not being quite so patriotic once again! They got through relatively easily and we took off straight after that.

Much needed 'easy' day and now for a good nights sleep before a huge day tomorrow! :)

Shane.

Have not had the easiest last 2 days at all!!

Day 6

Went into Day 6 ready to watch Hesh/Nestor/Andy and we were all pumped for a big day ahead!

Got to Melbourne Park and realized all tickets for the whole day had been sold out and it was packed in there! Luckily for us we had ground passes left for us at will call.

Nestor was first on in the morning so it was an early start. Him & Max wrapped that game up in straight sets quite easily. We had a bit of time before Mahesh's game to walk around a bit. Whilst walking around we noticed that Kirilenko had retired hurt in her match against Kvitova. Thus meaning her mixed doubles game with Nestor had been cancelled!

We then decided to head in to the show court to watch Mahesh/Rohan, only to find out their game had been moved to Rod Laver!! Which we could not get into. :(

To top the day off, we could not watch Andy live, but still saw the game on the big screen just outside Hisense.

So what was supposed to be a big day, turned out the opposite. But we figured alright, tomorrow will be a better day...

Day 7

We had reached the halfway mark of the tournament and had what was meant to be a early start for us, wasn't. As the Bryan's were scheduled to play on Hisense Arena which we could not get into. You guys should be proud of Fleming/Hutchins too as they put up a super fight!

Next it was to the Mahesh/Rohan game on Show Court 2. We were pumped and started chanting nice & early! Unfortunately for myself & Nathan, the heat wore us down and we were often leaving to get a water & some ice. The match did not turn out the way we planned at all with the two Indians going down in straight sets.

Straight away we moved to show court 3 to watch Nestor & Mirnyi make quick work of the two Italians.

Now came out break in which Nathan & I went to McDonalds to fill our healthy needs for the day! ;)

Came back just for the start of Mike Bryan's mixed doubles game. They didn't start off too well but they lifted and the match was pushed to a 3rd set super tie break. Bryan & Peshke were up 9-4 in the super tie break & were the number 1 seeds for the tournament. They then lost the next 7 points to go down 11-9 & bow out.

We stuck around for a while and had a few beers and then had a quick trip into the CBD to have some dinner & play an improv tennis match at McDonalds (shall get a picture next time). We were just about to leave to go home when we realized we had left out bag on the tram which had Nathan's expensive runners & the ANDY singlets inside!

Luckily enough, we caught a tram and it was the same driver, who told us the bag is at the depot and to be picked up in the morning.

It is now the morning & we have the bag & I am currently on the train in to the tennis. Unfortunately we do not have tickets for Andy this afternoon  but hopefully we will have tickets for his Wednesday match (providing he gets through).

We have two new chants ready to do as well. I'll give you a hint to both.

1. Hit Beatles tune.
2. Reached no.1 in the UK around 1979.

The AO TV ought to show the fans watching the big screen, like they do at Wimbledon.

Sometimes it's better watching on the big screen - you see the players facial expressions, which you wouldn't see from inside the court.

Day 8

Made our way in around 12.00, only to find out tickets weren't available to us until 2.30pm. So we stuck around the CBD, mainly at Federation Square, where they had mini tennis set up. Myself & Nick played a best of five sets, whilst Nathan & Andrew did the same. We never got to finish the match but Nick was winning 6-3 4-3. There was also a big screen at Fed Square so we did manage to watch Andy destroy Kukushkin!

We then made our way to Melbourne Park at 2.30 and picked up our tickets and made our way inside. We managed to sweet talk our way into Rod Laver Arena to see Bopanna/Raymond vs Ebden/Dellaqua in the mixed doubles. Our man Rohan played pretty well and they won the match.

From there it was to the Mahesh/Mirza mixed doubles game. The match went to a final set super tie break where both pairs had match points but thankfully Mahesh & Mirza took it out.

We headed home basically straight afterwards to watch the Hewitt/Djokovic game and get some sleep! The match finished at 1am, so a decent sleep was out of the question!

Currently 11.15am here and we are heading into Melbourne Park in a couple of hours. Not much on today, hoping to catch a couple of players training.

Will post up some pictures now. :)

Day 9

Not a whole lot to write about here.

It was a late start for us so we came in about mid day and wasted no time getting into the grounds & have a hit of mini tennis.

Went to watch Mirza's doubles match and for the first time in a while I got my rig out to get a bit of sun on my singlet tan!

We then walked around for a while, had a few beers and were lucky enough to get tickets for the Bryan's doubles game! We caught a bit of the Nadal-Berdych, it was such a good game to be at live!

By the time the Bryan's started it was about midnight and we had a lot of fun cheering for them using every chant we have & bob even got involved with a bit of head bopping to the clapping!

We gave $30 to Nathan to stand up by himself and sing 'I love you Bryan's, I do..etc' it was hilarious!

The game finished about 2.15am and we got home by 4 and straight to bed!

Day 10

An early start for me was delayed, as my hayfever & eye allergies kicked in so I had to rest for a while and make my way in by myself.

Luckily enough for us, we got a text from a mate who was there who said he would be leaving at 3 and we could have his tickets! So we all made our way in there just in time for the 2nd set. Started off chanting and Andy was cruising through. There was also a huge Asian contingent, mainly with the same cheer on repeat, but it made for good atmosphere nonetheless. It was good to see a relatively easy match for Andy as he will need to be at full strength for Novak on Friday night!

The match finished and we made our way outside, only to be stopped for a photo with a bloke in a British coloured morphsuit. This surprisingly quickly turned into about 5-10 minutes of photos being taken! It actually felt like a media conference, there were so many people around!!

Shared a few drinks with some Brits, in which we learnt it was Barnes? Day, and we were quickly corrected with our pronunciation to change it to 'burns'!

We didn't stick around for too much longer, made a quick trip to the pub for dinner & made our way home.

Early start with the Bryan's first on tomorrow morning & Nestor straight after. (potential clash coming in the final!)

Fingers crossed we can get tickets for Fridays match!

Day 11

Day 11 was a pretty disappointing day for us all.

We had an early start with Daniel Nestor 2nd on MCA, they started very well but dropped off and eventually lost in 3 sets to Paes/Stepanek. Those two are very impressive by the way!

We were soon joined by 3 other mates and just walked around Melbourne Park catching up with people and playing plenty of mini tennis.

Later on in the day we were back at MCA supporting Bopanna, which also made us supporting against Leander Paes again! Unfortunately Bopanna/Raymond lost and that marked the end of our day and on to some drinks for Australia Day!

Day 12

Carrying a bit of a hangover, myself & Nathan got home about 9am from Australia Day celebrations, had a quick swim and made our way into Melbourne Park at around midday.

We had tickets to see Bhupathi in the mixed doubles on Rod Laver & unfortunately he went down.

As soon as this finished, we all put on our singlets ready for the big game ahead and went to the beer garden to try and ease the nerves! We then had a fair few matches of mini tennis, followed by a few more pre match beers with the scots.

Made our way into RLA just before the game and it's fair to say we were all incredibly nervous! I was caught in the moment last night & I now realise how well he played & what a match we got to witness.

Whilst I am still disappointed and upset, I am so proud of Andy.

We are now on our way in again as we are lucky enough to have tickets to the women's final, but more importantly the men's doubles final, featuring the Bryan's!

Fingers crossed they get up.

Thanks Shane and your mates, you did Andy proud. He has made great strides over the last couple of weeks and I am sure he is going to get a Slam sometime this year, barring injury of course, so hope youy keep on cheering.

Thanks for your daily updates Shane, they have really brought the AO alive for us all watching on TV from the UK. Hope you are getting over your disappointment as we all are ... and realising how close our Andy is now to his 1st GS.

Thank you for all the support you gave Andy these past 2 weeks, I know how much he enjoys vocal support. The semi was one of the best matches I have ever seen despite the fact that Andy lost and you got to see it live! Start saving for next year ...

:thanks: Shane for your blog and for the support you & the boys give Andy down under. It is great hearing you on the TV and knowing that Andy has such great support there. I can only imagine how drained you must be feeling after that semi & being there live but what a great match to watch. Andy may not have won but he fought hard and that's all we can ask. Looking forward to the rest of the year and your support at the next Aussie Open. :cheer: :taz:

I'm disappointed as well but will never give up on him. He gave it everything and fought bravely - no-one could ask for more. Next time it will be different I am sure because Andy and Mr Lendl will work hard to ensure it is. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Day 13

After a much needed sleep, we made our way in about 4pm.

It was surprisingly very quiet around the grounds, even with the women's final on. We caught up with a few people for drinks whilst watching sharapova get smashed off the court in a very good performance from Viki.

We then made our way into Rod Laver for the doubles final, which we were very cautious of because Paes/Stepanek had loohed very good throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, this was the case with those two winning in straight. Another disappointing night for us, but I think we've just started to realise it's more disappointing as today is the final day of the AO, and after this, it's straight back to reality.

Heading off in about an hour, no matches on tody for us, but we will go in for a few drinks with some scots and friends we have made throughout the two weeks before we don't meet again for another year.

So final day, here we go...

Day 14

Not a whole lot to write.

Came in about 4pm, and went straight to the Heineken Bar to catch up with a few people for drinks, as we will most likely not see them until next year. We then caught up with a few of our staff mates to pretty much say goodbye.

Myself & Nick then turned to a final game of mini tennis, which ended up being about a 15 match winning streak for us, against ball kids, older blokes & various other people.

We then made our way back to the bar to watch the final, but to be completely honest, I struggled watching the first set as it just reminded me of what could have been with Andy. So I made my way home and am now watching the final from the comfort of my couch.

Thankyou all for the support over the 2 weeks, the tournament has been the best ever for us all.

For now, I'm back to reality, will most likely look for work this year, to save up for next year.

We'd all ideally love to do Wimbledon next year, but tickets may be an issue. But, we are all planning towards an overseas slam next year, any would be incredible.

Thanks for the fantastic blog Shane, you all certainly had a lot of memorable experience to share and had a fab time I'm sure! Know everything didn't go your way, would have been awesome if Andy had been in the final, a case of if only! However, sure we can be positive about his future prospects even if there will be challenges along the way! Sure you would enjoy Wimbledon or another slam too!

:thanks: Shane. Hope to hear all you guys shouting next year :):)

It would be fantastic if you could all make Wimbledon - you'd be able to camp and queue up for tickets. You'd really liven up Centre Court - you'd not get much competition from other supporter groups so we'd hear you loud and clear!!!!

Thanks again Shane. The AO, especially Andy's matches, would not be the same now without you guys.

REALLY hope you make it to Wimbledon. My dream is to make the AO one day. We have friends in Geelong so could visit them as well. Husband would need something to do as he's not into tennis (silly man :rolling:)

Feel lost without tennis on TV, can't imagine what it must be like for you ......

Question.

With the queueing up required at Wimbledon, say hypothetically, we were lucky enough to get centre court tickets, what's the chance of us getting 4 seats together?

I think it's very likely if you queue up overnight and get pretty close to the queue am sure. I'm sure I have seen a block of Hewitt fans in the past all together in the front. I think they save some awesome front seats for the queuers

Yes if you're near the front of the queue imagine there would be a good chance! Whilst you can get tickets via the ballot and last minute ones via Ticketmaster without queueing you wouldn't get 4 seats together via these methods. More info on tickets here (http://www.wimbledon.com/championships/tickets/obtaining-tickets)

There will be plenty of people on here to advise you how early you need to go and queue to be guaranteed getting tickets for Centre Court. But you have to queue for much longer to be assured getting centre court tickets than if you just want to get into the grounds.

This year I intend to do what I did the year before last, queue on the Friday for the Saturday. Last time I think I arrived in the queue a little before 9am on the Friday and I got into Centre Court on the Saturday. If I'd been much later getting there I would have missed out.

Saturday and the first day of Wimbledon are always very crazy and busy days to queue up!
