Andy plays Argentinian Diego Schwartzman in R2 on Thursday in Antwerp.
Surprisingly they've never played one another so the H2H is 0-0. (https://www.atptour.com/en/players/atp-head-2-head/andy-murray-vs-diego-schwartzman/MC10/SM37)

Cam Norrie did for Diego in IW last week so hopefully the former British No 1 can do likewise on Thursday. Andy will have to have to summon up some reserves of stamina though because the Argentine is known for being tough to beat.

Thursday not before 17.30 UK time.
He has half an hour to wrap it up before I go to Pilates!

If it is anything like last night he will still be playing when you get back!

Not to be critical, but I do hope Andy can shorten some of these points especially given his previous marathon match. C'mon Andy, you've got 10 inches and 10kg on him, hammer the little shrimp (no offence Diego :rolling:)

Jane

Oops - Andy lost his serve!! 4-3

You've got to be kidding me. Andy being sucked into playing Diego's game. Needs front foot, first strike tennis. DS to serve for first set 5-4

It’s all good match practice though and Andy is getting fitter and still showing some of his brilliance. Nice compliments from Diego.

 I'll never understand why a player as talented as Andy would choose to be a counterpuncher. Tonight, in his career - just don't get it.

What a shame - really hoped he could finally get on a roll here

Good effort from Andy but ultimately disappointing, do not think he got the tactics quite right. Initiative given away though from middle of 1st, even if he almost found way back. Still not beaten a top 20 player this season though, however Diego was pretty impressive once he got going. Might have made a bit of a difference had the Tiafoe match not gone on quite so long.

Ah well. Not the result we had hoped for, but love the respect for Andy from Diego in the on court interview. I enjoyed the match, not the result. I'm not going to go into the ifs and buts of the match right now. Instead, I really do appreciate that we are being treated to all these Andy matches, with more to come. And for now, that'll do!

I appreciate them too, but I still just can’t relax and enjoy them. I want him to win so much.

He is being competitive with highly ranked players, but just can’t quite beat them. I think he is definitely playing more of the key points better, but not quite enough!

Just finished watching and really disappointed but I thought Andy had just started understanding Diego’s game during the tie break. Perhaps that’s one of the things that time will bring back. Andy always did it so well before. Still loving seeing him play, not hurting and seeing the crowds behind him everywhere! I still believe the multiple wins are just around the corner!

Well done Andy, you still played a competitive match after a humdinger two days ago!

Andy - my attitude was bad in the second set and I made some poor decisions.

I feel exactly the same. Andy has been really open about what he wants to get from the last part of this season and it's sad that he's not getting it - he so deserves to.

I am hoping he will decide to go for qualifying in Paris. It may not be quite the top players he would like to be playing but it would give him a better chance of a few wins before meeting a top seed in the main draw which he could do in the first round as a wild card. Players in qualifying are still high standard tennis players.

Andy getting there slowly but surely. He is definitely improving his movement as he gains more confidence that his hip isn't g0ing to let him down. He just needs to try and relax a bit and let his game flow. Great effort against Diego who has become a top player.

It definitely would be more practice at winning wouldn’t it?

Is there a benefit points wise to doing qualifying versus having a wildcard?

If he did well in Vienna, he wouldn't be able to participate in qualifying for Paris

The Vienna semis would be the same day (30 Oct) as qualifying starts in Paris. With such a strong field in Vienna, even given a lucky draw I think it unlikely Andy would reach semis.

If he was doing well in Vienna it would be the same but with points.
