What high quality tennis. My Portuguese commie just said that was one of the best sets he has seen in 2021.
Just has to find a way to make his second set less vulnerable. I think that is the main difference.
But Andy back playing top tennis. C'mon Andy!

Gah. Very good standard from Andy generally but poor first serve and bp conversion stats (2 from 10) prove costly and chances not taken. Sign of tiredness. But take nothing from Alcaraz - what a player, exceptional.
Still a positive week thanks to the top 10 win.

Sometimes I am sad when Andy loses, but I feel proud because Andy did not lose that. Andy made Alcaraz win it. What a match!

Alcaraz d Murray 6'3, 6'4
The scoreline does not reflect the nature of the brilliant battling tennis from Andy - or his poor rate of first serves which could have given him many more chances of success!
The quality of tennis from both was amazing but the Spaniard nailed some fantastic shots and came through a stern test against a warrior of the game.
Sad for Andy but there's more to come from Alcaraz.

Some performance from Alcaraz but still a bit disappointing from Andy. Lack of first serves (particularly in 2nd) and some missed chances let him down. obviously positive with the top 10 win and hopefuly week overall will give him a boost, however real pity Murray did not go further. Still some impressive tennis today and we will seing a lot more of Carlos.

Well that was exhausting to watch - brutal. That young man is very good , very aggressive and very tough to play.
I honestly thought Andy was going to do himself an injury there! They were pummelling each other in a way that was reminiscent of Andy and Nadal.
Andy did have his chances and his serve wasn’t playing ball tonight but despite that Andy played well in what was a great battle.
Just wish he could win these matches!
Despite the result, that was a great match, high quality, breathtaking tennis at times. Maybe Andy's serve not quite as good as the previous match, but they both played so well. Pretty impressive stuff, and as usual, so good to have Andy on court. I still believe he's getting there. Let's go Andy!
A gruelling match for Andy after a hard R1 match. Don't think Carlos will become one of my favourites but he is certainly a star in the making. Sad Andy didn't make R3 but he continues to impress and every match is a bonus for us. x
Was a good match even though Andy lost. He seems to be moving so much better and you forget he has a metal hip. He is an amazing person but we all know that.
He told us a few months ago that Alcaraz was one to watch.
It's just so good to see him competitively fighting in these matches. Something I am very grateful for.
Well Done Andy & congrats to Alcaraz for fighting for the win.
