The AO Qualifying event start next week.
Only James Ward is in the frame for GB Men.

I don't have the Ladies Qualifying List but it should include Laura Robson and Naomi Broady.

We'll possibly have a few Juniors though and since the 2 events don't overlap it made sense to have one thread covering the 2.

James managed to scrape a seeding here but there are some good players in his section:

QR1: (q31) James Ward WR 161 v Iñigo Cervantes Huegun (ESP) WR 221 (CH 209 in 2009)

H2H 2-0 to James, both in Spanish Futures in 2008, both went to 3 sets.

Former world no. 62 Ivo Minar (CZE) WR 180 or junior Wimbledon Champ Luke Saville (AUS) WR 1176 await the winner in R2 and the other seed in this section is former world no. 18 Igor Andreev (RUS) WR 114.

Hmm!

Just for the record (I know it can be looked up but ....) James will have to win three matches to qualify - it is a 128 becoming 64 becoming 32 becoming 16 players going on to main draw.

James Ward is playing right now and is serving at 4-4, got to *40-15, now deuce.

C'mon Wardy!!!

:swingin::swingin::swingin:

Reports on another board say he was down by 2 breaks and serving at *1-4.
He's obviously broken back.

Anyone know why Oliver Golding is not at the Oz Open?
Presumably because he's no longer a Junior (he was 18 last September) and his ranking isn't high enough to get him into Qualifying for the main Mens event.
