There have been many comments in the news over the last few weeks about this Chinese player who seemed to have 'vanished' after making serious allegations of sexual assault against a former Chinese vice-President.
The WTA issued a demand to know she was safe.
The IOC appeared to be complicit with the Chinese standpoint after a 'staged' interview.
Other tennis bodies pledged their support but took no action.
The WTA has now announced that it will withdraw from ALL their events in China.
Other tennis bodies have responded ... the IOC staged another interview.

Steve Simon, CEO of the WTA
"With the full support of the WTA Board of Directors, I am announcing the immediate suspension of all WTA tournaments in China, including Hong Kong."
ATP - Andrea Gaudenzi
"The situation involving Peng Shuai continues to raise serious concerns within and beyond our sport. The response to those concerns has so far fallen short. We again urge for a line of open direct communication between the player and the WTA in order to establish a clearer picture of her situation. We know that sport can have a positive influence on society and generally believe that having a global presence gives us the best chance of creating opportunity and making an impact.
We will continue to consult with our members and monitor any developments as this issue evolves."

We don't encourage political discussion on this forum (there are specific forums for politics) but this is to do with the safety of a professional tennis player and as such merits support.

The situation with Peng Shuai cetainly is concerning, approve of WTA stance.
I am very pleased the WTA have had the testicular fortitude to make a stand on this.
