I'm following Livescore.
Seems to me that he's winning points on NB 2nd serve and also the majority on his own 2nd serve BUT coming unstuck on the few that matter (as rosiebear posted).
His own first serve seems better and the points are short.
So, maybe the hurdle is partly lack of confidence, partly the week-in-week-out match practice and court craft and, for Andy, a gap in knowledge of opponents playing style because he was out of action after the hip resurfacing.
IMHO

Andy held for 4-2, fingers crossed he retains the lead.

Oh dear. But to be fair, with the exception of an untimely df, Andy didn't do too much wrong. Only 4 aces would have done it because NB is playing monster, ultra high risk tennis. Always plays like it but some days he gets a bit luckier.
Sallydaisy

Andy did brilliantly! Put his frustration about 1st set aside and managed to weather the storm. Hopefully a few seeds of doubt in NB's mind now - need the missiles that have been just landing to just miss. Go Andy!

Really well done by Andy. That was a super tricky match. Too defensive and he was getting mauled, too aggressive and risk of costly mistakes. He walked a very fine line masterfully. Hope it gives him a lot of confidence, because that's all that's maybe a bit lacking - the game is looking great.
In interview Andy saying he's pleased to get through again opp taking huge cuts at the ball but knows he should have won 1st set and made things easier on himself.

Thanks guys! I checked the scores in work and it was 6-7 and I was thinking about it until now! Brilliant, every win hopefully going towards future wins!
:cheer:
Love how he always tidies up, love the black kit, LOVE ANDY! Great result. Memories of Ghent and that lob coming up next...:clap::clap:
Whew!!! Up early to watch and then internet signal was weak. I have more than one option for internet and none of them would work consistently. Continually buffering at critical points, tiebreaksetc. Oh well, the joys of traveling around. Thank you Sally for the link, I used that for a while as well but still had the buffering. So happy he got through, although missed a lot of the vital moments. Maybe that was a blessing.:sleepy::yahoo:
Tumaini Carayol in the Guardanhttps://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jan/12/andy-murray-outlasts-basilashvili-to-reach-sydney-quarter-finals
"that it took so long was primarily down to Murray’s own timidity when looking to consolidate a lead. Murray served for the first set at 5-3 and then 5-4 in the second, but each time Murray was dragged back into two tie-breaks, which he and the second seed split between them."
failing to close out a set is a fault to be fixed PDQ or it'll come back to bite him. who's Andy's coach just now? thought he was working on advancing to the net and generally playing more aggressively as everyone has been urging him for the last 15 years - deaf or daft?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_JI9C14gAM
Was following live scores. Admit I didn’t expect him to pull it off after losing the first set. Well done to him.
