BRISBANE 2012 FINAL: Andy dominates Dolgopolov to win first title of 2012 6'1, 6'3

What a cracking Final awaits!!!

Andy trounced Tomic in his Semi 6'3, 6'2 and Dolly beat Simon 6'3, 6'4.
Neil Harman reckons Dolgo is 'on fire' and playing exceptional tennis.
We've just seen Andy do pretty much the same.

Here's an extract from Neil Harman's Times report today ...

Andy Murray moved into the final of his first tournament of 2012, the Brisbane International, on a breezy day when the occasional shafts of sunlight illuminated a performance that clearly delighted the new man in charge. The British No 1 beat Bernard Tomic, the Australian No 1, 6-3, 6-2, serving 13 aces en route, not making a peep, keeping it all under control and playing one man, not anyone else, including himself.

Dolgopolov beat Gilles Simon, of France, 6-3, 6-4, overcoming a thigh strain midway through the second set which, he said, was giving him quite a bit of pain and which, had it not eased, might have forced him to consider whether he should continue. “It was a little bit scary for me,” he said, but he completed the task and with his devilish style, his whippy serve and the growing confidence off the ground, he will provide Murray with a very stiff task in the final.

The H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=D801) is 2-0 in Andy's favour and the last time our man won was in 2011 at the Australian Open in the Quarter-Final 7-5, 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3. The other win was in a Davis Cup tie on clay v Ukraine 5 years ago when 19yr Andy play 18yr Alex.

Here's hoping he can repeat the win but in 2 sets .....

The Final is scheduled for 2pm (after Mens Doubles Final at 12noon) which is 4am UK time.
That well and truly scuppers the Sunday morning lie-in!!!

Yes, but I think the majority of Finals are played in an afternoon session - even Grand Slams such as Wimbledon, FO and AO. It might be so that players can finish a tournament and have enough time to travel to arrive at their next event and start playing the next week!!!

But I can't have a lie in as I have to be at church around 9.15 - it's the children's Christmas play tomorrow, of which I am as usual producer/director. I hope Dolly is less inconsistently inconsistent as last time Andy played him at AO lol! Just hope no rhythm disruption.

I feel positive about this match for 2 reasons

1. He probably still wants to impress Lendl
2. The match is at 4 a.m. It seems in the last few matches that whenever it's at an icky time for us in the UK, Andy is very considerate for us and wins easy :) Or so I live in hope lol!
