Andy will play Taro Daniel in R1 at Doha.
The Japanese player eliminated Andy from the Oz Open a few weeks ago in R64 in straight sets so (a) Andy now knows what he's up against, and (b) hopefully he can notch up a win in this return match!!!

The winner plays [2] Roberto Bautista-Agut.

That's more like it - Andy giving the slightly-built journeyman the treatment. Now let's hope he can play well again tomorrow because Andy deserves more than the 1 step forward, 1 step backwards of late. The underwhelming AO was understandable - a good run in Sydney left him tired but if he hadn't played he'd have gone into Melbourne cold. Just bad luck and victim of own success. But now he really wants and deserves a string of good results. Keep it going Andy :cheer:

Andy totally different. Decent serving, lots of pop on his shots, dictated play, came forward quite a bit - generally took the initiative. In post match interview said courts here really suit him.

Normal service resumed today! So good to see it. I sort of felt (hoped?) he would do it this time, totally different circumstances. Different court, different lead up, best of 3, Taro trying to live up to his own expectations after his AO win, and more. Be interesting to see his next encounter with RBA. Last one was so emotional.
