Yay, fan power wins (to some extent). Trying to work out how this works - we had a wild card so at first I thought we wouldn't be in the September stage but I was wrong - the wild card only took us past the qualifiers played recently.

Dates are 14-18 Sept at the Emirates, but as it's round robin we won't play every day. Anyone with any insight on the format please share. I am beyond excited that we can be in Glasgow for DC again

Once the draw has taken place to determine who is playing who, we will know what dates and time slots that GB will play - either day or evening sessions. Tickets are then offered for those sessions. It was all very organised and clear last time...

Thanks Gill. I understand the draw is on 31st March, although I guess the actual OOP won't be available for a while.

A group of 4 means there will be 6 matches over the 5 days I think but no info how they will be spread over the sessions. There might even be a day off somewhere. I hope they do announce the timetable soon. I have actually just booked hotel as I have no travel costs for this!

Gosh, wish this was next year as hopefully I will be in UK for the summer.

Apparently the LTA have signed a 5 year contract to be a host venue for the next 5 years, dependent on Team GB qualifying (or being wildcarded like this year I suppose). The idea seems to be to take it to a different GB venue each time, so hopefully you'll be able to attend next year Genbrit

Funny how the supposed revamped DC format under Piquet seems to be shifting back to a format a little more like the old format. At least it's not just one big venue now which gives more fans chance to attend

Any idea if we will have access to group tickets??

Hi all, I received an email on 1st June regarding our group booking which read as follows but have heard nothing since so have chased it up.
It's probable that spaces have been reserved for us so please don't panic !

Thank you for your email and apologies that we haven’t been in touch yet.

That’s wonderful to hear that you have such interest already, thank you for letting me know.

We have not yet finalised the supporter group offers but as soon as we have further information, we will go out to all groups with all the details and offers, alongside any information we would require from yourselves, such as numbers.

For now, sit tight and we’ll be in touch soon.

Kind regards

Under the "old" format the 4 nights accommodation was for just one DC tie while now you get 3 DC ties. I am sure most people will find something of interest in or around Glasgow on the days off.

yes it's good vale for money, although I'm not sure whether the event will be as well attended as the old ties. it will be a test to see whether people have bought in to the new event, especially assuming that neither Andy or Jamie will be there.

Probably going to make a bit of a trip of it & do some sightseeing on the Thurs & Saturday. Steve will probably come on the trip but might give the tennis a miss. Might jump on the train to Dunblane and pay homage at the golden postbox on one of the off-days.

I do think it's expensive though. If I've understood the format correctly a tie can end up being only 4 sets if it's decided by the singles matches and they are straight sets. But hey ho, I'll give it a go to see how the format works. Still think Pique should do one though

Dunblane sounds like a good plan for one of the days

I think because it is a group format all singles and doubles in a tie must be played because more than one team could have the same number of ties won so matches won and then sets won would decide the group winner and runner up to progress to the last 8 in Malaga.

the gap days are good in one way, I'm hoping to have a day out and will plan for that but on the other hand, it's a longer trip away and it means more hassle to sort pets, work days etc. I am thinking I won't be able to stay for the last tie. Bit of a nuisance, all in all, particularly if it comes down to that day to decide the results.
I would quite like to see the US matches so am thinking of doing just those and the middle tie now.

I also wonder if as many will go. It's sort of lost the momentum perhaps for the general public.

Tickets for non GB ties are considerably cheaper - if anyone travelling up was thinking about seeing other teams on the non GB days. Our tennis club is planning a club day day out there on the Saturday as it works better than the Sunday/ weekdays for folk to have a day at the tennis then dinner and drinks, we are seeing USA v Netherlands, my ticket was only £30 in the lower stand. Deffo coming to see GB with you guys tho!

Tickets were posted at 8am this morning (that was 2am bed-time for me!) using updated postal addresses. If you didn't update or remind me of your current address then I'll have posted to the information I had as of 2018/19.

Please excuse:-
a) the dodgy cut down postcards I used to write little notes 'cos my printer ran out of ink at midnight
b) my terrible handwriting (which I why I usually enclose typed notes!!!)
c) the inclusion in some of your envelopes of tickets for Thursday 16th September 'cos we were allocated some extra freebies.
Those who asked for Saturday tickets (freebies) have got them + I've PM'd a couple of folks who had tentatively asked but for whom I've been able to allocate a few.

No-one (except those who booked) is obliged to attend on Thursday BUT if the Glasgow weather is horrendous you might be glad of somewhere warm and dry to watch tennis - and it might be rather good!!!

Thanks all of you who have confirmed that you received your tickets (Angie by email).
I haven't heard from Aimee, Joyce, Rosalind or Tina.
WimbledonWestie knows hers were sent out a couple of days later but she's not due at the event until Sunday so I'm hopeful hers have time to toddle to Scotland.

Wishing all those going to the DC in Glasgow a very enjoyable and successful time. I would so love to be joining you and to be reunited with you again, it's been so long, but it's just not possible for me at this time. I will be with you in spirit and looking out for you on tv. I'll wave at you anyway!! If you can squeeze in a wee extra cheer from me that would be great. Just go and have a blast. :GBflag::GBflag:

Some quick replies to queries:-

- The GBR team are probably wearing Blue t-shirts/white shorts.
- It's hoped to issue DC tie T-shirts to fans ... so maybe one less item to pack?
- I have yet to hear more details about Thursday evening
- I believe the only person yet to receive tickets is Anor. Things in hand to deal with this.

Sadly I'm unable to join you because I've a hospital appointment on Thursday which makes attending the GBR days on Wednesday and Friday impossible and it won't be feasible to travel to Glasgow for Sunday only. Unfortunately, Hawkeye is also unable to come along this time.

Caro will be liaising on your behalf with the LTA and the mods are very grateful that she's agreed to help us out.

Will update with any further information in due course.

We left towards the end of the 1st set to get the last train. Was gutted to have to leave but walking back wasn't an option for hubby. Well done to those who stayed. We watched on iPlayer when we got back to the hotel and saw you cheering on.
Ridiculous to start the tie so late. I wonder why they did that? The other GB ties start earlier so I wondered if it was US tv ?
Gutted for Andy and Joe. They battled so hard

Absolute fiasco re schedule. Fans had to leave before dubs so unable to watch Andy who is the big draw for fans. Those poor school children didn't get to see their hero. People having problems with taxis and leaving car park. It may have been timed for US viewers which is ridiculous. Paying customers ie home supporters should come first. Andy was right to speak out. I feel so sorry for those fans who had paid a lot of money having to leave before or during doubles match. Totally disgusting organisation

As noted on t'other thread the start times were as published some time ago. I suspect it was to allow folk to come along after work to watch tennis.

For those in Glasgow … does anyone fancy a meet up for lunch tomorrow before the tie? Obviously not able to have an evening get together. Let me know if so and I will see if I can get us in somewhere central. Was thinking about 12pm to allow time to get to the arena for 3pm start.
