I'm amazed that both of them agreed to go on court for the start. Utterly ridiculous. Not just for the players but for the event staff, volunteers etc etc.

World #3 Alexander Zverev defeated Jenson Brooksby, 3-6 7-6 (12-10) 6-2, at the Mexican Open in a first-round contest which set a new record for the latest finish to a tennis match at 4:55am local time in Acapulco.

The article on the BBC webpage does explain that they start matches at 6pm because of the heat.

Zverev has been defaulted from Acapulco for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Abierto Mexicano@AbiertoTelcel
Aviso importante @atptour
Due to unsportsmanlike conduct at the conclusion of his doubles match on Tuesday night, Alexander Zverev has been withdrawn from the tournament in Acapulco.

Gill Gross @Gill_GrossLook at the umpire's leg reflexively flinching in fear. This as bad as I've ever seen a player threaten an umpire physically.

Well they are going to get very irritable tennis players if they make them play in the early hours of the morning until nearly 5.00 am.

There have been plenty of late running tennis matches in the past which have ended without incident. There's no excuse for Zverev's behaviour IMHO.

BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/60490225) - Alexander Zverev thrown out of Mexican Open for unsportsmanlike conduct

Umpire Alessandro Germani and all his colleagues will now be looking towards the ATP for action.

The first call belongs to the tournament supervisor. He is likely to decide later today to withhold Zverev's prize money and issue the Olympic champion with a fine.

And then the ATP's senior vice president for rules and competition must decide whether Zverev's behaviour constitutes a 'Player Major Offence'.

If Zverev is found guilty under that code, as Nick Kyrgios was in 2019, he would be subject to a heavy fine and even a possible suspension from the tour.

Great win for Cam. Tomorrow will be tough against Nadal and the crowd but he is so calm and focused at the moment that I wouldn't write him off. Great stuff.

Cameron played extremely well breaking Nadal twice in the second set, the second time when Nadal was serving at 5-2 so it was less straightforward than the score of 6-4 might seem. A title and a final in consecutive weeks is some achievement!

Good effort from Cameron in the circumstaces and certainly pleased with his progress in recent weeks!

Yes, Cameron played well and certainly didn't make it easy for Rafa. Well Done to him for his start to the year.
