View Full Version : INDIAN WELLS R2: -Andy vs Bublik. Day time tbc
Andy vs Bublik match thread.
Second up on Stadium 2 today, so unlikely to be much before 8pm GMT.
That means we can watch Emma Raducanu v. Petra Martic, which is first up on Stadium 1.
Harriet Dart v. Kaia Kanepi is third up on Stadium 4.
Isner wins in 2 tie breaks, Andy up next in 10/15 minutes or so.

Andy holds first game ...
... I have Emma on tablet and Andy on laptop!

Is anyone else having sound issues with Prime Video???
I'm not getting commentary on either device and there's a funning shushzing noise!
The main stream with Emma is fine, but the individual match streams are all doing it.
Andy with 3 break points, 1 saved...

So annoying!
Andy should have won this set!
2 break points in the first game of the second set, Bublik saves both with an ace.
4/4 break points missed in the first set, and so far 2/2 in the second.
And Bublik makes the most of his second break point, *3-1.

Bublik certainly a step ahead in the 2nd and somewhat disappointing from Andy, just need to hope on an opening. 15-40 though!

Bublik wins 7'6(9), 6'3
What a battle though ...
Not to be. Hopefully Lendl can help him with his confidence.

Bit of shame that Bublik stole the brutal first set, tough to come back from but Indian Wells just isn't Andy's venue, he doesn't like the desert air and several shots sent flying - even in his golden heyday the weird Desert of Death has just never been a happy hunting ground. Roll on Miami, much more Andy's bag.
Credit to Bublik today, a great entertainer.
Very sad at another R2 exit, so disappointed for him. Pity that 1st set got away from him; he seemed to lose a bit of something in the 2nd (confidence??). On to Miami to try and break this R2 block he's got into. x
Thought Andy played some great tennis. Very heartening. Bublik said he was lucky to win.
Such an entertaining and hard fought 1st set, the TB was torture! What a shame Andy couldn't nab it. Still a lot to be happy about despite the result. Win #701 will come in Miami for sure. Always believe. :maggie:

I agree. Andy was definitely the better player in the first set. If only he could have won it….
why so many dfs? i wasn't watching, no amazon prime, but was Andy trying to beef up his second serve?
Also, don't know if I'm just seeing what I want to see but I felt a different vibe from Andy. More upbeat and positive. Just looked like he wanted to be there and was fully present mentally and physically. Is this the Lendl affect already?

He played pretty well but struggled with range on a few shots and his serve; seemed to be the conditions (ultra hot and dry air) more than anything else.

Eugh so disappointed with that tie break :crying: and Andy's reaction to his second ace was priceless! His serving was definitely awol. But onwards and upwards :bravo: a great first set to enjoy.
