Groan. Well, if he ditches the R2 blues in Miami it will be in style. Go on Andy, find your ingenious best and it can be done.

Well exactly. It's not a great draw for Daniil either - he will be cursing getting Andy in R2 in a tournie with no Rafa, Fed or Novak, all pressure will be on him as the guy who was no 1 last week. Andy knows how to tie the tall guys in knots. Should have beaten Stefanos in NY, the top 5 tennis is there, so go on Andy get past Delbonis quickly then take the big Russian down (no offence Daniil!).

I am watching Rublev and Kyrgios and it is currently 6-3 4-0 to Kyrgios. Nobody watching this would believe the rankings were the other way round. The level of talent is so unbelievable. Unbelievable. Such a pity he cannot get his head together for seven matches in a row during a grand slam.
Make that 5-0 with three breaks of service. 46 minutes!!!
Make that 6-3 6-0 51 minutes.

Yes Kyrgios on fire and Rublev had no answers. Felt sorry for him and would love Nick to steady himself.

Watching a bit of Krygios and Sinner and I can pick up how nasty some of the individuals in the crowd are with their catcalling... not the normal distraction of American tennis fans, but what? Drunken young men? Or those who have gone to try and rile Krygios. It is disturbing both players at times and I must admit there is an argument as to whether Nick's behaviour is the cause of this or is the effect of this, but I wish something could be done about it. :( PS 6-6 in first set.
Carlos Bernades deducted a point during the TB and then after Nick lost it Nick said something and so he deducted a game. I am not sure he is handling him well. I know it is not strictly speaking his fault but he has not imposed his authority on the crowd as some umpires would.

The Miami crowd has been raucous (borderline rude imo) all week, same for all his matches so Nick knew what to expect. Difference today was he couldn't deal with the pressure that Sinner brought and cracked up in spectacular fashion and lashed out like a spoilt child. All credit to Jannik to keep his focus in that bedlam. The game penalty the only break in the match - Nick is his own worst enemy, he'll never get the level of win to go with the level of talent - just doesn't have the temperament. Well done Jannick.

Kygrios was praised for his focus in previous matches but felt it would only last so long, a tough crowd and perhaps the umpire should have exerted more control earlier (though not easy) however at the end of the day Nick totally lost it and could not handle the situation. By contrast Sinner was so impressive in stating in the moment and not getting distracted, well done Jannick!

Why I prefer Indian Wells to Miami
Not for me. There's a happy medium. Miami might be a bit too raucous but IW is death warmed up :hide:
A bit of salt in the Kyrgios wound, as Sinner retires at 4-1 down in the first set.

Top seed Medvedev out in the quarters going down to Hurkacz 7-6 (9-7), 6-3. Daniil Struggled more with the conditions.
Alcaraz through after a hard fought match against Kecmanovic. 6-7, 6-3, 7-6
Amazing tennis from both of them and very close. Made me excited for the future of tennis. A new Spanish/Serbian rivalry and an edge of your seat match.

Carlos Alcaraz takes the title getting past Casper Rudd 7-5,6-4, well done! Thought he would win though Rudd got off to the better start and lead 4-1 but the Young spaniard soon got into his stide. Alcaraz grew in confidence and and whilst Rudd fought back in 2nd could not really turn the tide.
Well done Alcaraz
Congrats to Alcaraz. I've enjoyed watching his matches this week.
