Andy makes his first Final in ??? months.
:jitterbug:

He'll face Matteo Berretini, the Italian returning from injury earlier this year.
Their H2H is 1-1 (https://www.atptour.com/en/players/atp-head-2-head/andy-murray-vs-matteo-berrettini/MC10/BK40) so it's all to play for.

C'mon Muzzah!

This is Andy's 70th career final (platinum!) and 10th grass court final. An awesome achievement whatever the outcome. Good luck Andy!

Only just finished watching the semi and Andy deserves his place tomorrow, so much! Well played today Andy, you’re looking more and more at home on the green stuff!

Now for the Italian! :knight:

Really looking forward to the final. When I read that Andy's team had to convince him to pull out against Novak a few weeks ago due to food poisoning I was frustrated for him but also very encouraged - he obviously feels ready and really wants a shot a the top guys. He's going to go all out today, and it's going to be great. Neutralise the Berretitini monster serve and get that trophy Andy. Best of luck!

Not the best of starts. Broken in his second game.

One poor service game the difference really(though was fortunate avoiding going 2 breaks down) and Andy was unable to take his chances. Some quality in there but a needs a bit more consistency, Berrettini for the most part strong on his delivery though. 2-1 Murray in 2nd.

Not the best game from Berrettini but Andy took his chance, hopefully starts well in decider! Crucially Andy dug deep in that 4 all game where it looked a bit dicey.

Felt Andy wouldn't be able to see him off in 2 sets but don't want him to knacker himself before Queen's and Wimbledon! Make this 3rd set a quick one for your sake and our's, Andy please. x

Pity for Andy , looks a bit restricted but has held two service games reasonably comfortably. 3-2 Berrettini.

At 3-5 in the 3rd set Andy was 40-0 up ... but Berrettini has it back to deuce ...

Berrettini wins despite Andy fighting hard to hold that last game on his serve.

Hope he'll be OK for Wimbers ...

Berrettini takes the win.

But well done Andy for getting as far as the final.

Supreme effort from Andy as always. Looking forward to Queen's, not sure about Wimbledon and 5 sets. x

Andy to his credit fought hard, though hope it was not an undue risk. Berrettini though done well to break Andy at the end, rather than having to serve it out, maybe bit of a challenge in the circumstances. Might have taken a different course without the injury though. Think we will need to see about Queen's.

I hope the injury is not serious as he has no recovery time before Queen's. He was building momentum week by week coming up to hopefully peak for Queen's and then Wimbledon.
He did well to finish the match.

Seriously, I love and admire Andy so much it hurts. Last year's Wimbledon finalist a step too far at the moment, but an amazing effort. A few weeks ago he couldn't string together back to back wins, now look at him - a run to a final, taking out top 5 for first time since '16 along the way. Phenomenal progress which will provide confidence and match sharpness going forward. After many early exits it it will take time to get used to deeper runs, but he's getting there.

I'm sure Andy wouldn't do anything to jeopardise Wimbledon, so wouldn't have played on if too serious.

Congrats to Berrettini, I suppose, but my god he's boring to watch - just the massive serve or shots set up by the massive serve.

If Andy and Berrettini both win their first matches at Queens they will play each other again in the second round.

I am at Queens on Tues so would see Andy play but right now I just hope he’s ok (I wasn’t able to watch the match). I would sacrifice seeing him next week for him being fit for Wimbledon. Such a shame after everything he has been through … he just HAS to be there! :strawberry:

Funny you should say that  and I love everything Italian (I even have a Fiat 500) but his serve just puts me off him :cold:

I would prefer to watch Muzetti!

Well done Andy for such a great week and for finishing the match

Praying no damage done and you’ll bounce back for Queens and most importantly Wimbledon!

And Sonego!

So many great Italians at the minute, but Berrettini not one of them for me.

Quite agree! I don’t like the huge serve, it just kills off seeing the real tennis skills of others, especially Andy!

What a great achievement from Andy - a shame that the dream stopped short.
He’s played a lot of tennis recently - I hope the injury is not something that challenges Queens or Wimbledon. We want him to keep that momentum going!

I think Berretini is one of the more able big hitters - he can get to the net and bomb out these big serves.
Can’t believe Andy might have to play him again so soon. It’s bonkers!

Rest up Andy and let’s keep our fingers crossed for a quick recovery from this tournament and that left hip.

I'm really hoping it's a bout of athlete's anxiety about what may or may not be be an actual injury. Was it from running into those things at the side when he went for a wide Berretini drop shot I wonder.

I wondered this too. The injury seemed to appear just after he had to pull up sharpish so stop himself hurtling over the seating.

All in all a great week for Andy. Hope he will be ok for Queens & Wimby

Seems it’s not a hip injury but an abdominal one

Just watching the Berrettini interview today and didn’t like how he quickly said Andy got injured after Matteo was already a break up :grrr:
