View Full Version : WIMBLEDON 2022 - Women's singles and doubles
I heard earlier, on radio Five Live, Emma Raducanu has said she will turn up at Wimbledon to play her match. I just hope she'll be able to get through her match without another injury.
Bit of a tough first round match for Emma though as Van Uytvanck knows how to play on grass. In fact Van Uytvanck is the favourite with the bookies.

Could well be tough for Emma but hopefully fit enough and can rise to occasion. Mind Van Uytvanck beat Muguruza at Wimbledon when she was the defending champion and this year has won Surbiton and a 125 event on Grass as well as being very close with Sabalenka in 's-Hertogenbosch.
Emma has just broken in the first set and leading 4-3, and will be serving next. Phew!!
Emma taken first set 6-4 :cheer:
Emma won 6-4 6-4 :cheer::cheer:
Heather's match has been moved to Court 1 and has just started.

Emma's match not as tough as I expected, maybe not Van Uytvanck's best performance but Emma did step up in some key moments and seemed ok physically. Has Caroline Garcia next, won their only previous match in Indian wells this season.
Katie Swan takes the first set against Kostyuk.
1 set all, and Katie appears to be struggling with a thigh injury.
Kostyuk takes the third set.
Heather Watson gets a first round win, and got a bit emotional at the post-match interview!
Well done Hev

Good for Heather , looked a bit uncertain last night. Whilst looked tough draw against Muchova fairly straightforward for Halep.
Watching Serena. It's painful.
Boults wins in straights.

Katie Boulter wins 7-5,6-3. Serena set down,2-0 up in 2nd after long game.
What is that on Serena's face? Plasters or decoration?

I think it is something for her sinuses.
Serena is out, never really looked like she believed.

Still good win for Tan ,thought she had missed her chance at 4-0 down in the breaker. obviously Serena not match fit though.
Heather has resumed against Wang.
And only needs one game to make it into the third round!
Well done Hev
Harriet Dart just about to start her match.
Boults takes the second set against Pliskova, and thoroughly deserved it was too!

Swiatek having a tough R2 match ... from Jon Wertheim on Twitter:
A week ago in Wimbledon Qualifying, Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove lost to Cristina McHale...
Today, as a lucky loser, Pettinama Kerkhove in a third set with No.1 Iga Swiatek...
But the World #1 prevails finally 6'4, 4'6, 6'3.

Fabulous performance from Katie Boulter, was not sure she would beat Pliskova again but strong in that deciding set. Well done to Heather too!
Certainly was tough for Swiatek bit found a way, will want another gear though.
Heather fails to take 3 set points in the first set tie break against Kaja Juvan...
Double fault from Juvan! Heather 7-6(6)!
Juvan crumbling, Watson leads *5-0 in set 2.
Heather makes week 2 with a 7-6(6) 6-2 win!

A great win for Heather, though was getting a bit edgy near the finish line, great point to seal the win though! Hopefully Katie starts well against Tan.
Katie Boulter outclassed by Harmony Tan 6-1 6-1.

Had feeling it may not go Katie's way but that was a drubbing.
I'd never heard of Harmony Tan before this week! Katie has had a sad time over the last days and should be proud of how she has coped. Liam is now having a hard time against her boyfriend. x
Watson/Dart inti the last 16.

Heather/Harriet won their ladies doubles match but Heather (and Ken Skupski) now withdrawn from mixed with knee injury.

Was it Heather with the knee injury?
Cornet just taken out Swiatek in 2 sets.

Great display from Cornet but Swiatek certainly was below par. Grass seems to present more of a challenge, though maybe she was a bit jaded.

Heather struggling. A set and a break down.
Sadly, Heather looked totally overwhelmed by the situation. Her game was no match for the power of the German girl.

LADIES FINAL
Jabeur takes the first set 6-3.
But Rybakina has broken to start the 2nd.
Could it get interesting?
Yikes! … what’s happened to Ons??! Come on, you can do this!
Elena Rybakina wins 3-6 6-2 6-2.
Gutted for Ons, really wanted her to win

Me too
I wanted her to win too but I feel she totally lost concentration after she failed to break both in the second set and the third set. Maybe she just wanted it too much. Hopefully, she'll get another chance.

yes was pity for Jabeur but hopefully another chance in the future. Rybakina though played very well but prefer Ons' game. Match seemed to go rapidly away from her once she missed the bps in 3rd.
