Update on entries:
From the US Open via Tennis Panorama News (https://twitter.com/TennisNewsTPN)):
Alexander Zverev (GER) has withdrawn from the US Open.
Stefan Kozlov (USA) moves into the Main Draw.
From Stu Fraser (https://twitter.com/stu_fraser):
Zverev's withdrawal also means that Cameron Norrie is seeded inside the top-eight for the US Open. The Brit now cannot meet a higher-ranked opponent before the quarter-finals (a long way to go before then, of course).
Now we wait to see if Novak Djokovic will remain on the main draw entry list after the qualifying draw later today (Jack Sock on standby). The CDC is still reviewing the mandatory vaccination requirement to enter the US, 10 days after guidance for community settings was relaxed.

Cam Norrie has the 1st set in the bag against Holger Rune and was serving at *4-1 up in the 2nd set but the Dane broke for 2-4. However, Cam has a couple of break points again so hopefully he can forge ahead. A place in the last 16 at the US Open is at stake.
EDIT - and Rune holds for 3-4 but Cam still has the edge. Just needs to hold his serve!
Evo is on later - 3rd match ...

Cilic took the first set on a tie-breaker 12-10 ... in 1hr and 20mins.
Dan did not let up and went toe to toe with the former USO champion who was playing lights out tennis.
Dan got an early break to go 2-0 up in the 2nd set but Cilic has just broken back and will serve at *1-2.
C'mon Evo!!!
:GBflag:
And now Cilic has broken and is about to serve for the second set.
Tiebreaker again. Going to bed after this set come what may. Dan up 4-0
What a match. Shame anyone had to lose. It was really only Cilic's serve that gave him an advantage. The rallies were phenomenal from both players. .

Kyrgios is now 4-1 against Medvedev in head to heads.
Alcaraz is now the highest seed in the draw.
https://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/articles/2022-09-06/alcaraz_outlasts_former_champ_cilic_in_nearrecord_ late_finish_at_2022_us_open.html
WHAT HAPPENED: It seems every time 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz takes the court these days, he’s making history.
Last year, right here in Flushing Meadows, the Spaniard became the youngest US Open quarterfinalist in the Open Era, his fifth-set tiebreak win against Stefanos Tsitsipas the stuff of legend. This in a year that also saw him become the youngest ATP titlist in more than a decade and the youngest player to earn more than 30 tour-level victories in nearly 30 years, among other records.
On Labor Day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the No. 3 seed became youngest man to reach back-to-back US Open quarterfinals since Aussies Lew Hoad and Ken Rosewall in 1952 and 1953, a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 winner in a late-night/early-morning thriller over 2014 titlist Marin Cilic of Croatia.
With a 2:23 a.m. conclusion, the three-hour, 53-minute marathon fell just minutes shy of the latest finish in US Open history (2:26 a.m.).

Really enjoying watching Tiafoe. Sort of hoping he tires himself out this week though . :unclesam::GBflag:
What a cracker of a match between Sinner and Alcaraz. Managed to watch the last half an hour this morning at 7.30 am. Latest match to be played at US Open and second longest match.
If one of Ruud or Alcaraz win their semis he will become world no 1. If both win their semis then the winner of the tournament will be world no 1.
Worth watching the point of the tournament in the video.

Watched more of the second semi than the first and have to say, I know Alcaraz is great but Tiafoe really went to pieces at the end. I suppose that’s all part of it though, keeping it together. And a win is a win!
Now for the final!
JAMES4578

Alcaraz having it tough though, 3 consecutive 5 setters. However still think he should take the title.
They said Tiafoe was tiring more at the end of the last setter. Alcaraz is like a machine managing to get through those 5 setters. I think Alcaraz will win too. Bookies have him as favourite too.

Thoroughly deserved and happy to see this young man accept the mantle from the Fab Four. Don’t think he will be under the same pressure as Emma as he already has much more experience. Seems a very likeable guy too. Will be interesting to see if he can compete well with Novak next year.

Fererro says he is only at 60% of what he will be able to do in the future. Several peeps are comparing him to Federer.
