Andy plays wild card Gilles Simon in the first round.
Earlier in the year, Gilles Simon said he was retiring at the end of the year. So could this be his last tournament?

Better news for Dan in the doubles - from Steven on Twitter:
Paris ATP Masters R1: Dan Evans & John Peers AUS came from a set down to defeat Maxime Cressy USA & Gonzalo Escobar ECU 3-6 6-4 10:5 :-) and will take on no. 7 seeds Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliovaara FIN in R2.
I think Cameron's will be a late match tonight.
Fritz and Simon are near the beginning of their 3rd set, then there is Rafa vs Paul.

Perhaps it will be moved to Court 1
Perhaps it will be moved to Court 1
Shapovalov and Careno Busta have only just started their match there, so I doubt it. Also Cameron is playing a Frenchman.
Simon lives another day and has beaten Fritz.
Wow, surprised to hear that Simon beat Fritz - he really is on a final roll!

Simon certainly making the most of it, he looked jaded at the end of the 2nd but find a way to get past Fritz!
Not sure if Simon will get through Felix in the next round though. Will try and watch the end as it will be nice to see Simon's send off if he loses.

Cam out in a very late night finish to Moutet.
Cam out in a very late night finish to Moutet.
Such a shame! Moutet is a very clever player but Cam had to battle a very partisan crowd and a very very late night and couldn’t quite make it! All the same a very good year overall.
It was just past 3 am Paris time when it finished - it is not fair to the players to have such late starts and finishes.

During the match the commentators were saying that although it seems unfair to be playing so late the players do not dislike the increased prize money which is generated from spectators paying for night sessions which guarantee two matches to watch. However, it is really unfair that tonight Moutet is scheduled for the first night match less than 17 hours after he finished his previous match while Tsitsipas has had many hours longer recovery time.
Simon out to FAA in straight sets 6-1,6-3.
Simon's farewell is not being covered by the main program but it is if you click on the match thingy on Amazon Prime. Not translated though. It is on TennisTV too.
oop for Friday - https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/current/paris/352/daily-schedule?day=7
Play starts at 1.00 UK time.

A was a match too far for Giles though obviously Felix has been in form, still seemed to be great send off! Certainly been involved in some great matchers throughout the years.

Rune beats FAA 6-4 6-2, another top 10 win for him taking his ranking to number 12.
Novak takes out the Greek; interesting final.
Rune serving for the tournament!
And takes it 3-6, 6-3, 7-5! What a final game as Novak battled to take it to a tie-break but the young whippersnapper prevailed. Sure he will be gracious in defeat.
Brilliant from Rune
First person to beat 5 x top 10 players in a tournament.
