The International Tennis Federation said Thursday that it is ending its partnership with the Kosmos group to organise the Davis Cup, just five years after a deal worth $3 billion was signed.
"The ITF can confirm that its partnership with Kosmos Tennis for Davis Cup is ending in its fifth year," a spokeswoman told AFP.
A 25-year deal was signed with Kosmos, which is owned by Spanish football star Gerard Pique, in 2018 but the revamped tournament has attracted widespread criticism over its format.
"The ITF has ensured financial contingencies are in place and as the custodian of the competition we will operate the 2023 Qualifiers and Finals as scheduled, with the Final 8 taking place in Malaga, Spain, this November," added the spokeswoman.
"The ITF negotiated a strong deal for tennis in 2018. The partnership increased participation, prize money and interest in Davis Cup and produced funding to support the global development of our sport."
The 2019 Davis Cup finals were the first in a single-city format, ending a long tradition of home and away ties.
The new format was widely criticised, including over low attendances and late finishes, and was rejigged in 2021 to include three cities.
Several top players have skipped the Davis Cup in recent years.
Rafael Nadal helped Spain win on home soil in the inaugural new-look Davis Cup Finals in 2019, but has not featured in the tournament since.
Australia's Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt, a former world number one who played in his country's 1999 and 2003 triumphs, has been one of the biggest critics of the modern format.

Wonder if Leon will swap Joe for Dan in the doubles. Dan clearly struggled controlling the ball, especially on serve, and playing 3 matches in 3 days at altitude, even if only best of three, might not be a good idea. Especially when you have the world no4 doubles player sat on the bench.

No. I've read in the Daily Mail, it might not be played in Glasgow.

No. I've read in the Daily Mail, it might not be played in Glasgow.
Also in the Times saying it will not be in Glasgow. They need 4 hard courts, so not sure where it will be played. In the past they had Davis Cup ties at Wimbledon in September. I went to No. 1 Court for 3 ties - the first time against Ecuador in 2000 (although that was after Wimbledon itself in July), then in 2007 and 2008 against Austria and Croatia. I saw Tim Henman play his last match at the 2007 tie.
That’s always going to be a problem in Glasgow. It’s a cheap venue in terms of organising the event, especially at short notice, but without Scottish player involvement it’s going to struggle to get the crowds.
Re the Copper Box, no way that’s holding 4 courts. As much as I enjoyed the Fed Cup tie there, transport links weren’t the best either.

There are two tube lines, Docklands Light Railway, overground trains to Liverpool Street and a few services to Kent.

Realistically where can they play that has access to four courts and good spectator numbers. ? Apart from Wimbledon, there's the NEC and..thats about it.
They could play it at Nottingham and redevelop the outside court they had for the Fed Cup in 91 and Davis Cup in 98, which won't happen. Apart from that I'm struggling. Eastbourne ? but then you are gambling with the weather.

This was said in March 2022
"The agreement between the LTA, the ITF and Kosmos Tennis to host a Group Stage in Great Britain will last for five years, on the basis that Britain qualifies or receives a wild card for the finals in each of those years. The Emirates Arena in Glasgow will be home to the competition in 2022 with a view to taking the event around the country in future years as part of the LTA vision to open tennis up to new audiences."
Hopefully this means not always London.
Why do they need 4 courts? Will ties be played simultaneously?

I don't think it is a dumb question as I have asked it too. I have not seen any reference to a need for 4 courts other than earlier in this thread. I would have thought one practice court as well as one match court is enough.

I would guess that as there are four teams, they all need access to a practice court at the same time. Then two courts are used as match courts.

I don't think any of the group match venues last year had more than one match played at the same time so they must all be looking for bigger venues this time - and there will be little rest time for players if it is being condensed into fewer days.

No there was definitely only 1 match per day in Glasgow. So if they are sticking to the same format this year I think they need a maximum of 2 courts. One for the matches and a practice court. I believe that in Glasgow the match court was used for practices in the mornings before the doors opened. Not sure if they had another behind the scenes

Under the "old" Davis Cup format that would have been 3 separate trips, maybe 12 hotel nights plus three lots of travelling. Now you can have 3 ties in one location so less cost looking at it that way. Yes, I know the matches are shorter now too so it is different in so many ways..........never again will we see a match like Ward v Isner.........but we have our memories!

I wouln't be surprised if it was at the NIA (now Utilita Arena) again. They have nothing on at that time in September. I was at both Sweden and USA ties, plus the ones against Portugal and South Africa. I seem to remember they were all pretty close together in time.
