Robbie Bats serving for the 1st set *5-1
First set gone in a flash.
!st set quickly gone to RBA; Andy can be a slow starter - how is he looking?
Stiff...
A break down in the second set now.
Andy does have the crowd behind him.
Andy has just broken to love 4-4 in the second set to a huge roar from the crowd.
Commies saying probably hip and fatigue/stiffness affecting Andy's serve.
6-5* to Andy, so a tie break at worse...
Andy saves 2 set points, 6-6.
Andy takes the 2nd set. what a man !! x
So many saltires on MCA, getting emosh!
How the heck did he pull that off? It was2-4 when aI checked.
Sheer tenacity and endurance!!
The Spaniard breaks in game 8 and then serves out the set with ease.
Andy looks done in.
After a valiant effort by Andy RBA takes the 3rd set. He has given his all;what do we want for our man now? I know what I want for him. x
Oh God, he's now got his 2nd - or is it 3rd or 4th wind? - and is 2-0 up in the 4th!
Back on serve. Never recovered from that missed volley at 30 all.

Andy broken back so 2-1, in the circumstances great effort but surely unlikely to win another 5 setter if it was to get there!

He will have to be stretchered off before he would give in! I have to leave about 12 so only phone updates after that.
RBA breaks in game 9 and will serve for the match.

An incredible fight. He is obviously not done yet. Well done to him.
Andy lost. But he can only be proud of his performance this week.

Great match - shame he lost. He was close.
A bit more sleep and he would have done it!
Bautista Agut the only seed left in this section of the draw until the semifinals.

As well as the belief and message to others that he can do it - this should help his ranking shouldn’t it?

What a shame, Andy finally ran out of steam. I thought in slams they played alternate days. Great effort overall though.

More sleep and better scheduling! He never ceases to amaze!

Proud to be a Murray fan!
Love the opportunity to spend yet another weekend cheering him on.
Love it. Love Andy!

It should boost his rankings a little bit as he will get 90 points, but he will need a lot more to get seedings in major tournaments. Andy is currently 66.

That’s annoying! This feels like a huge improvement in performance and needs rewarding In points

Andy's campaign over for now, great grit and determination throughout the event but thought the odds were against him today after the time spent on court (particularly the late finish against Kokkinakis). Hopefully can get ranking up to avoid some tough match ups early on,going to take a bit of time though.
Andy went down 17 places in the rankings and lost 150 points before the Oz Open.
Amazing when you think who he played in each round, how long he played and his speed, physicality and quality of tennis. He's back in my opinion. For a while before this I thought he was constantly half a step slow and that maybe that was due to age and the hip. But Andy said he hadn't worked hard enough off court. Well he's clearly made up for that over the winter. Let's hope his ranking improves enough for him to get some more straightforward early round matches! Go Andeeeeeee!!!!
Oh and no more playing in the middle of the night!

What a champion, so proud of Andy, :thumbup:he was fighting till the end. Agree, may have been a different score if for not his first 2 matches, but definitely positive signs from Andy and hope he can continue getting the wins and going up the rankings, which he so deserves to do:worship:
I had hoped he'd win so his ranking could go back into the top 50.

They did...

What a positive week for Andy despite long matches and atrocious scheduling. Today for much of match seemed unable to walk and his service was affected also. It was a devastating loss for him but could anyone but Andy battle as he did with a body almost spent and blistered feet? He may have lost this one but this week must bode well for the future.

All the love for Andy. He has just been incredible this week. Hoping 2023 can be a good year for him
Had to go to a funeral today, so have just finished watching the replay, without knowing the score. He *somehow* managed to make a good match out if it, and how the crowd cheered for him. He gave us a great week, and now he needs to give that poor battered body of his a good rest. He's just phenomenal, and I have lot of respect for RBA too.

He may have lost the battle today, but I reckon he's won the war, on many fronts. :knight:

What a guy! Andy you are amazing
Some guys depend on their serve and they hang on by the skin of their teeth but Andy hangs on so often with everything but his serve! It would finish off everyone else.
Craig sent me a message saying that no one since before 2000s has won a third round match after 2 five setters beforehand but not sure if that's only Oz Open.
Andy has, yet again, proven so many people wrong. What an amazing week.
Thank you Andy Murray, hero, legend and BRAVEHEART :sirandy:
Well done to Andy. This week has been very encouraging. I still cant believe how he fought so hard and won the 2 5 setters. What am I talking about, of course I believe it. It's Andy!!! This one was a step too far after the others but if those had been less than 5 sets, who knows. I think he would have won this as well.
