Lol. What have you got against Shaun Murphy?
If anything I enjoyed seeing Neil beat Trump even more after the disrespectful comments he made against Neil.
Well done Neil. He played very well and seems a very nice person. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :trophy:

The German Masters final is on Eurosport right now. Ronnie looks like he's finally going to win a ranking tournament again. And he needs it as well because he was on the verge of falling out of the top 16 which would have meant he would have to qualify for the World Champs.
Big crowd of 2,500 people, too. Never knew snooker was so popular in Germany.
Not sure what Hendry's odds were before the Worlds started, but starting to wish i'd put a few quid on him. Higgins making some mistakes but he's punishing them big style.

Higgins is has been a shadow of himself for most of the season. He played below par against Liang in the 1st round and scraped through, but against a rejuvenated Hendry he won't be able to get by.
A lot of upsets in this tourny so far, but Ronnie, Robertson and Stephen Maguire look in good shape. Judd was feeling ill his first rnd so will see how he plays 2nd round.

Stephen Hendry retires.
What a great career.

Sad that Hendry's called it a day, but he certainly had a very successful career.
He definitely made the sport what it is today. Bit surprised he lasted as long if i'm honest, the motivation seems to have been missing for a while.
Sad to read that Stephen Hendry has retired - he was a great champion and ambassador for the sport of snooker. His matches against Jimmy White will never be forgotten.
I wish him well in all that he decides to do in the future.
I'm amazed that he kept playing for so long. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

That's really a bad news for snooker lover.
Stuart Bingham has been banned for six months for betting breaches and he must pay £20,000 in fines.

That's a blow for him. He is lucky he only has a 6 month ban. He has already dropped to 10 in the ranking so will probably need to qualify for the Crucible. I am hoping Ronnie can keep up the good work. Such a fantastic player to watch.

Visited the Crucible for the first time last Sunday, saw two sessions. It's a great place to see, ideal really for Snooker. You wouldn't want to see a match in an Arena, as you would need to watch it on the monitor. It was a bit of a panic to get tickets but I managed to get one for each of the sessions. Regular World Championship watchers might have noticed a man who always wears a Coventry City football shirt, and always sits on the front row. The ticket sellers (WPBSA & Crucible Theatre) have managed to sell tickets to regular attendees for season tickets, but for next year they are stopping this, and it's all first come first served. Which is a shame as a lot of people have been going for a long time, and to them, it's a holiday.

O'Sullivan seems to be in one of his'I'm not really bothered' moods. As if he's giving everyone else a chance. Or at least that's the way he comes across off the table.
With Selby gone, there aren't many that can challenge him over the longer matches.

Not good by Ronnie this morning. Higgins can defo challenge him.

Great comeback from John Higgins tonight, lost a lot of respect for him over the betting meetings but, really can't stand Judd Trump.
Hard to pick a winner from here.

What a fantastic match. Would expect Higgins to go on and win now but 3 others may have something to say about that
Congratulations Mark You truly deserve it well done,

What a wonderful final, so pleased Mark Williams won.
He played great snooker and deserved to win. John played some awesome stuff last night, but paid the price for being off form earlier in the final.
The people behind snooker and billiards got turned down to be included in the next Olympics. They're now trying to get included into the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Think it's a bit of a stretch to describe video gaming as a sport in any case, however not quite sure why some of the sports have got in ahead of say squash. Snooker probably as good a case as some of them (though don't watch it a great deal nowadays)

I would'ave thought that if you was ok with skill based events such as shooting and curling it opens the doors for a lot of things??
It seems the Olympic Committee are so who knows.

I find his attitude towards the game, the events, spectators and his fellow players terrible. Compare him to the big 4 in tennis, who have to put up with a lot worse fan intrusion but always find time to sign, always say good things about fellow competitors, support the events and organisers etc. I go to the world champs at Sheffield onceca year, if next year Ronnie is playing for one of my session visits I might try and swap to the other table.

Didnt say I'd give it away, you would need a ticket for the other table to swap ! I do get that Ronnie is up there with the best that has ever played the game. Its just that whenever we get to the WC he's always saying he can't be bothered, only playing for fun, not in form, about to retire etc.

I neither love him or hate him though. I have the greatest respect for his talent. Rather like Novak, and to some extent Serena, they just aren't players I'd choose to support.

Even after his qf win against Williams, where he came back from 6-2 and 10-8 down to win 13-10, Ronnie thinks he played poorly, has got no chance against Selby, and can't pot anything longer than three feet !
This from possibly the G.O.A.T !

I was fortunate to get a ticket for the first session of the final, so got to see Ronnie at close quarters. No doubt both players were tired after the semi finals. Ronnie, although 6-2 up, seemed to be struggling with his cue action and concentration, and the evening session bore this out. But at times he makes the game look ridiculously easy. The speed which he plays, not reckless but quick to identify a shot and commit to it. No wonder he gets fed up playing the slower, mechanical players.

Just love watching Ronnie play: he should win Sports Personality this year. I am very envious although I have a seen him play several times, the first time back in 2000 in Brighton.

I was at The Crucible for two sessions last Sunday. In order to gain access I had to have a valid e-ticket, an email confirmation of my agreement to take part in the spectator trial, photo id and a recent negative lateral flow test. I took a test at my local centre on Saturday lunchtime, but they failed to send me the result. So Sunday morning I took another test, at Sheffield Hallam Uni, hoping to get the email in time for start of play. Fortunately it duly arrived and I got in. Attendance was limited to approx 300, but I counted no more than 120 for the morning, a few more for the afternoon, so people were still feeling cautious. Tickets are still available for the rest of the event, BUT not single seats, only to bubbled groups of 2 or more.
Loving watching Ronnie in full flowI love watching Anthony McGill!
