Wow that's a pretty bad serve percentage for a quarter final - hope he works on that one before the semi!!! 44%

6-3 6-3 6-1 made it in the end. Needs to work on his serve before Friday but stuck with it today. Well done Andy
Lots of deuces and Andy serving poorly and forehand wasn't firing
Yeah I just got down in time to hear the on court interview... Ah well more for Mr Lendl to help him work on!!!
Time to go back to the real world ... Being with my journo mates all day made me realise how much I want this And don't want to schlep round the North Circular this morning :-(
well done Andy !!!! serving wasnt great obviously and he knows it, not his best match but got the win and thats what counts
the best part is im losing track of slam semis , nine isnt it in total

A win's a win, so well done. But please get those serves in next match!
Considering I was a bit of a "lightweight" this morning & missed the first set.........WELL DONE ANDY!!!!!:thumbup:

Well I'd much rather Andy has an off serving day today than in the next round!
That's the "slam" bit done. Now the "grand" part of the tournament begins.
And Andy has got there and so gives himself a chance at putting the two parts together and getting the GS!

At the end of the day a comprehensive win and Andy into another slam semi! Not always flying on all cylinders and the serve was a bit of a worry at times. However I'm sure Andy can address this and go up a few gears which will be necessary if as expected Nole awaits him. However for now well done Andy and he hasn't spent too long on court this tournament which should be advantageous.:cheer::cheer::cheer:
Not the best of matches but Andy played well and came through in straights! Well done Andy!!!! Concentration went a bit a miss there at times.
Need to up 1st serve percentage there and he knows it and take more BP chances but still a good win and a comfortable move to the semis. His 3rd AO semis in a row and 5th GS semis in a row. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :cheer:

like you say tho wins a winn and any negativity around the performance might not be a bad thing as it helps dampen the expectation , no doubt the pressure will be on nole as much as andy (pressuming nole gets past the ferret)
Don't understand why Mats was drolling over Federer so much during an Andy match! Much preferred the commentary box when he had gone for the interview

On court interview with Todd Woodbridge, for any who missed it:
TW: Congratulations Andy, you're through to your fifth Grand Slam consecutive semi-final, that's quite a performance. Well done, yeah, I think that deserves a round of applause for the consistency. What did you think about your match today?
AM: Errm, I thought it was...I thought it was a good match. There were a lot of good points. Um, most of the fun points he was winning, so I was trying to keep them as short as possible um but I did well, he's had a few long matches and I thought first two sets he fought really well, there was a lot of close games and I played a bit better in the third, but err it was tough cos I think he played two five-setters and a long four setter the last few rounds.
TW: Have you changed your routine coming in to this Australian Open with the new coach, cos I noticed the other day when you finished a match, you went back out for another practise. I haven't seen you do that too often.
AM: That's actually my idea, Ivan never did that when he was playing, but yeah it was cos...I only played 45 minutes so I wanted to try and get into a bit of a rhythm and went back out there, but err nothing's changed yet.
TW: Anything you'll work on after today's match?
AM: I think I need to serve better. I didn't serve particularly well.
TW: Do you want to know your stat?
AM: No. I don't <grins, audience laughs>. But the returning was good, so that was a positive, but I need to improve my serve for sure.
TW: OK. We've got one other question, from FanGo, that's what we've been using in the commentary position, where the viewer gives us what they want to know. We're going to move ahead, hypothetically speaking, I think you'd be happy to have this happen - if you were to win here at the Australian Open, how would you celebrate? Don't forget, Courier jumped in the Yarra!
AM: <grinning> I'll come up with something, and I'l let you know in the next couple of days, but er, yeah, I'm not sure but I'll do something special if that happens, but it's a long way away.
TW: You keep us posted, we're looking forwad to it. Good Luck, well done.
Well a win is a win - and I'm sure Andy knows he'll need to sharpen up.
Five consecutive Slam semi-finals - surely this must be a record of sorts
What atrocious tripe from Wilander & Bradnam - please don't let them be commentating on the next match. And that ridiculous final on-court question - good to see Andy swatting it away.

If we're really lucky, Annabel Croft may join Bouncy & Lloyd for 'in-depth' analysis. We are so fortunate to have so many successful Tennis champions in the UK......
The Wilander/Bradnam pairing is excruciating. They are bad enough individually but when they are together they just egg one another on to even greater inanities. The ultimate prize has to go to Wilander this time though with his pronouncement that Rafa was responsible for Spain winning the World Cup in football!

Pleased to see Andy in another slam semi! He did enough to win and could have served better but hopefully the first serve % will go up in the next match. Good mental focus throughout though.
Kei played a good match - hope he continues his rise up the rankings.
Agree about the commentators - Rafa will be surprised to learn that he can take the credit for Spain winning the world cup! Plus Chris Bradnam always likes to get a dig in about people not liking Andy, very annoying...

Failed slightly this morning - fell asleep when Kei broke back in the second set. Awoke to see (very relieved) the ladies match so knew Andy must have won.
OK bad day at the serving office - he's entitled to one and best that it came today and not in the semi
With you all the way Andy
.... and to a casual viewer it sounds like Andy has spent all his matches in a strop [err, don't think he could have won all those tournies & been consistently at no 4 etc if that had been the case]; and that anything positive he now achieves is simply down to the 'Lendl factor' about which they drone continually, questioning how long will it last etc etc. So annoying.

Must say its always concerned me that - although I think Lendl and Andy will be a brilliant combination - I dont want it to be Lendl's achievement if/when Andy wins his first slam.
I know Ivan wont claim the credit but the commentators - apart from perhaps dear old Petch - will be the first to give it to him.
I heard Andrew Castle say that Wimbledon would be Ivan's target because he had never won it. He never will !
Well done Andy :yahoo: :yahoo:

Both semis are in prime time, they are on different days. The Beeb are saying they will show one of the semis, and both Thursday and Friday slots are reserved (on interactive at least), so I will be very surprised if we don't get Andy's semi. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/5345480.stm

Well he actually improved today. The other day I heard him say that people talk about the top 4 but that actually it's the top 3 (guess who!!!) and the back 3!!! This morning he said there's the top 3, then Andy and then the rest (or words to that effect) - so Andy's had a bit of a promotion in Willie's esteem!!! Grrrrrrrr!!!!!! He's bad for my blood pressure.

Can't swear on here!! Behaving badly? OK, we know that his emotions were on show often but he is one of the most sporting, decent players on a court who has never, to my knowledge resorted to time-wasting tactics, never called a trainer for an imaginary injury, never sniped at fellow players and always taken the blame for his losses. But those ********* commies spew out the same old drivel again and again. Wish I could meet them just once!!!

Well done to Andy, on reaching another GS semi, brilliant! I watched the match and thought Andy made some great shots, but was a bit upset about his serves, hope this is just a blip, and we wont see it again in this tournament.

I'll do the spit bucket.
Listening to Bradnam say "he's talking to himself.... he's coaching himself here Murray, that's another major change".
No it's not you flipping muppet, he does that in every match - and if Lendl wasn't in his box you'd be going on about how bad tempered he is - with your nasally over-exaggerated elongated vowel noises that are infinitely more annoying than anything Andy has done on court.
Take him out SG, and if it goes to points I know a man in a hat who can help with the scorecard!
Now all i need to do is find sombody to give the

girl on Eurosport a match before I shoot her.
Like Supergran, never have I seen Andy do anything unsporting or ungentlemanly. The rants that he has had on court have always been against himself not his team. If you look at the fines that have been levied on players, Andy is virtually at the bottom of the list - certainly behind Novak and Rafa who have been fined for both time wasting and racquet abuse. Wilander, who is one of the greatest advocates of Andy keeping his emotions in check, was only yesterday urging Berdych to break a racquet or swear to release some emotion and get himself fired up for the rest of the match! I'm sure I'm not the only one who spotted Djoko shouting at himself and his box today - was it commented on? If it was I didn't hear it. There is definitely a double standard - one for Andy and one for every other player on the circuit. As for Bradnam portraying Andy as a 'Harry Enfield' character - nothing could be further from the truth. What is the saying, '... a prophet in his own country .......' Really no-one could blame Andy for moving from Britain to more welcoming climes - wouldn't that give all the commies a field day!

I was so impressed with Andy's concentration today and his general demeanour has improved - whatever the reason. He played so well today (apart from poor first serve percentage) but should be very fresh for Nole. Unfortunately we are going away on Friday so I shall miss most of the match but will keep my fingers and toes crossed.

Well done Andy
I can´t see any other result than Murray´s victory. Everything´s in place and it´s the perfect time to him to step it up and show that he´s here to win the slam.
The fact that it is a semifinal is a great advantage for Murray, because there´s no pressure of being a final. Not a single soul is expecting him to win the AO, so he can´t burnout mentally.
And another factor is Lendl. Murray has been playing the most agressive tennis i´ve ever seen, collecting winners after winners. I just hope that he doesn´t go back to the baseline when facing Djokovic, because that forehand is looking very good. He just needs to have that mentality and confidence to be the agressor.

Just a word from somebody who does not normally get these commentators, living out of the UK, except on a stream from time to time, I can still understand the torture it must be to watch our guy and have to listen to that. It clearly affects many of those who do. I feel for you, but do not forget that the rest of the world is pretty neutral or positive towards Andy - I actually quite liked watching TV last night and posting here, as the Portuguese commentators tend to be ex-players who were aiming at top 100, and have no axe to grind with Andy. They love some of his tennis and comment on incidents in matches as they see them, without any previous baggage. Look at Andy's popularity in the social media on the AO site - no, he is not going to get beyond Roger and Rafa, because they are "brands", for want of a better term, which have been constructed over years of success.
Take a deep breath and notice how..... well, happy our Andy has been in this tournament. Let's try and find our internal Ivans and try and ignore the noise pollution and enjoy each of Andy's matches!
He needs to pull Nole all over the place as much and as fast as poss (so he deffo needs to be up to the baseline or inside) and make him start to suck air!

He brings his tennis talent, confidence, and new levels of concentration together and then they will battle it out. Over five sets there will be chances for Andy and although Nole has the tennis to create changes as well, I do not think Andy will let Nole the momentum too often and for too long. Dare I say it, we might just see a Mr Murray with Andy's artistry, Roger (of old)'s reliance and Rafa's resoluteness. That will be a force to be reckoned with!
The only thing is if they knock seven bells out of each other there's not much recovery time before they meet Mr Smug who'll have had an extra day off (sorry but I think he will beat Rafa in 3 - would love to be proved wrong)
