A testing first round without a doubt.

H-2-H is 0-3

Never played before 2019 when Murray was still on recovery path, & he's playing better now, so fingers crossed.

Tough opener but it will be the first meeting on grass,Andy did have a win in the Kooyong exhibition event this year but seeking his first tour victory over De Minaur.

At least Andy has had lots of matches on grass coming into this one.

Although not beaten De Minaur in h2h, they haven't played on grass before

cazza99

I think this will be Alex de Minaur's first match on grass this year.

Alex is 19-13 wins/losses on grass. He won Eastbourn in 2021, so he knows how to adapt to grass.

It is not on the order of play. Where did you read that?

If you google Andy and look under Queens doubles it says he’s playing doubles with Cam starting at midday against Salisbury and Ram

Did that and clicked on doubles and it says Andy playing doubles on Wednesday at 12. Tomorrow is Tuesday. It is likely that he won't be playing singles on Wednesday if he is playing doubles so early I guess.

Yes just noticed that - strange he’s playing both- even if on different days

Thinking about it I bet you they don't know the time either, so putting 12 as they have to put something. Unusual for times to be given before official oop is out.

Mountain to climb now for Muzz; ADM just got a vital break in the 2nd set and will serve at 3'1 up.

Think Andy's forgotten his opponents have gone up a level this week.

Gary D

He's passive. De Minaur is up for it, & Murray doesn't look it.

JAMES4578

Not going Andy's way, pity he could not keep momentum going early in the match,De Minaur been tough though-needs to find a bit extra to stay in contention.

certainly disappointing and that long game at 3-1 effectively ended his chances. whilst started well became a bit flat (though could have more pro active) and De Minaur played a smart match.

Is there anywhere else he can play to get some ranking points, before Wimbledon draw

I had a feeling he might have difficulty with De Minaur. Andy played well but Alex was just too fast around the court. Such a shame, he was so positive.

He will have fun playing doubles but shame it has to be Joe on the other side of the net!!

Next week is too late to affect rankings for Wimbledon entry sadly.

Alex played an absolute blinder today. I don’t think Andy played badly, definitely didn’t play brilliantly, but wasn’t allowed to. Absolutely gutted for him :crying::crying:

He was flat as could be. Barely any any signs of anger at it going so badly, - unless Lendl curbs that.....?

I watched the first set and then thought I'd check here before I watched the 2nd. I have never done this before ......... Andy just didn't seem to be fired up enough today. :crying:

Gutted!

Am I right in thinking that Andy lost to Mahut in the first round of Queens in 2016 and then went on to win Wimbledon?

Andy won Queens in 2016, beat Raonic in the final - I was there. He lost in the first round in 2017 to Jordan Thomson.

When I heard the draws at Queen's, I had my doubts about a win for Andy against ADM and tbh felt the same about his forthcoming doubles match against Joe/Ram; I hope I'm wrong as I want to see his winning smile again. I'm still gutted about yesterday and I'm sure Andy is so I hope he and Cam win today (sorry Joe). Have he and Cam played together previously and has he played against Joe before?

Alis
21-06-2023, 13:25
Andy was quite philosophical about the loss in his interview. He's played a lot of tennis in the last few weeks ..... it's disappointing but maybe we shouldn't read too much into it.

Gary D
21-06-2023, 13:43
I agreed with others when I saw he'd got De Minaur. Aussies are usually good on grass. If the match had been close & he was beaten by the World no 18, then fair enough.
But Murray's grass preparation couldn't have gone better. A couple of opponents who played well, but he dug in & did what he used to do.

But yesterday was so flat & quiet by his standards. Seemingly asking his team why his serve was 10mph slower than D-M's......what was that about......

Weird & disappointing.

Alis

Maybe just pure fatigue ..... physical and mental?? It happens to even the best.

There's such a lot of psychology in sport. I do wonder if things might at least have been closer had Andy got the break he deserved in the first game of the match.

Matches change on so little and that was annoying enough to us!
