Just watching Jack play Baez - Jack is ranked 38 and Baer 26. He has just won 6-1 and 6-3 in 1 hour and 18 minutes. Two breaks in each set.
I do not know Baez or even Jack very well, but I was very impressed by Jack's point construction. I thought he was just somebody who hit winners but that was very impressive and on the day there seemed to be a much greater ranking difference.
Very encouraging! Well done Jack!

His current live ranking is 70 - he is working his way back up after time out hurt last year - starting from Challengers a few months ago (mentioned on original Draper thread Oct/Nov posts).
His ability is at least top 20.

Jack has just beaten M. Kecmanovic (ranked 27) 5-7 7-6 (9) 7-6 (7) in 3 hours 39 minutes. Well done! Hope he recovers for the next match and, in fact, does not overplay before the AO. I only saw this on live scores as it was on court 3 and I do not think there was a stream (though stand to be corrected). Great start to the year for Jack and I get the feeling he is going to be very solid top 20 (and...?) by the end of this year if he stays injury free.

certainly top 20 potential, that was a tough one- glad Jack came through in the end!

Jack has great potential for the rest of the year. Just hope his health stands up to it. Get so worried with these youngsters damaging themselves so early on in their careers. So much pressure on them!
Jack has beaten Tommy Paul 6-1 6-4 :yahoo:
Jack will be playing Bublik in the semis in Adelaide not before 7.30 am Friday morning UK time.

Well done Jack. I did not see the match but there are some highlights on Youtube in a Quarter Final Round Up (search for Draper Paul Adelaide). I know highlights are just a snapshot but it seemed he was very patient in rallies and waiting until the right moment to hit winners. Paul was the number 1 seed I think. The same highlights show Bublik was a bit fortunate to come through his match (I think he won the last four games) and was a bit streaky. Jack also seems to have a lot of this week's opponents close to him in his AO draw!

Jack has just beaten Bublik 7-6 and 6-4. Bublik is so streaky! Second ATP Tour final.
Well done Jack.
Saw part of it. Had Barry Cowan commentating though. I have noticed some of the Amazon prime and previous Sky commentators are commentating on Tennis TV.
JAMES4578

never sure quite was to expect from Bublik, tricky though so good win for Jack and another final-great!
Out of interest does anyone know who was commentating on Sky?
Jack is playing Lehecka in the Adelaide final not before 5.00 am UK time on Saturday morning. It follows the doubles final with Ram and Salisbury which starts at 3.00 am.

Jack unfortunately just lost in the final 6-4 4-6 6-3
He was very close at 6-4 4-4 0-30 in the second set, but did not quite get over the line. Lehecka has some very good tennis when fully on.
These two might have a lot more battles in the future.
Oh well, still a good week for Jack. Now recover for next week! :)

Jack playing at RG against de Jong lost the first set 5-7, but leads 4-2 in the second.
Jack loses the 2nd set 4-6.

Jack has won the fourth set. :cheer:
We have a proper match now. :coaster:

But he lost the 5th set!
What a shame!! After a great fight back - maybe the rain break didn’t help him as he had the momentum at that point! Maybe, maybe…..

A pity for Jack and disappointing, still credit in extending the match.

Brits have been really disappointing. Both Cam and Jack should have won their matches. For the others it is a tough ask.
Jack Draper now the British No 1.
And into the Stuttgart final!

Brilliant by Jack, should guarantee a seeding for Wimbledon
Jack will now be 31st in the World.
Good for Jack. Had this set to watch the replay today and then forgot about it totally!!!! Looking good.
I was so delighted for Jack.

Jack has withdrawn from Shanghai.
Not unexpected after he had to stop playing in his SF against Humbert
in Beijing yesterday. A shame nonetheless because he'd been on such
a good run over the last few months.
Well done to Jack on beating Lorenzo Musetti 6 - 2, 6- 4 in yesterday's semi final in the Erste Bank Open in Vienna and reaching his first ATP 500 final. He'll play Karen Khachanov.
JAMES4578
27-10-2024, 10:11
was really impressive from Jack, hopefully finds a way to master Khachanov.
Jack takes the first set 6-4
Jack is the champion!! 6-4, 7-5 . So well done. :cheer: :cheer::trophy:

Congrats to Jack. He's playing well. :trophy::clap::bravo:
Jack on in Paris at around 6 pm tomorrow night on court 2 but may have court changed.
Jack beat Jiri Lahecka and plays Taylor Fritz this evening on Court 1.
Jack lost from a set up to De Minaur.
Enjoyed watching Jack. Seemed to run out of energy against DeMinaur, although Ive been busy so haven't read any match reports.

Draper injury rules him out of United Cup and Davis Cup.
Really sorry to hear that. Poor Jack - he must be so fed up with himself. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Disappointing for Jack, wise to take precautions though. Hopefully he will be ok for the Australian Open.

Jack Draper is into the Semi-Finals in Doha; his opponent will be Jiri Lehecka who beat Alcaraz to reach the SF's.
It's scheduled for 16.30 UK time following the first SF due to start at 15.00 between Rublev v FAA.
2 years ago Lehecka also reached the SF's in Doha but he was beaten that time by our very own Andy Murray who
went on to take the title - his last main tour trophy.
Head to head is 1-1; last year Lehecka beat Draper in Adelaide but Draper beat Lehecka at the Paris Masters.
Whoever reaches the Final, played on Saturday, will play the winner of Rublev v FAA
Jack into the final and plays Rublev 3.00 pm Saturday in the final.
Doubles final beforehand starting 12 noon all brits. Salisbury and Skupski vs Cash and Glasspool .
How amazing is this. A Brit fest!!!
JAMES4578
22-02-2025, 11:11
Great for Jack in coming through 2 tough encounters, serve and returns in 3rd set against Lehecka impressive! Whilst seeking first win against Rublev a while since they last played and all being well should have a shot. should be interesting in Doubles final, think would prefer Salisbury/Skupski mind you.
Sallydaisy
22-02-2025, 17:25
Rublev took the title, beating Jack Draper by 7'5, 5'7, 6'1.
Perhaps not as battle hardened yet as the Russian!
Both came through 3 setters in the QFs and SFs.

Looks likely that Jack will rise to World #12 next week after his run in Doha.
Jack is playing in Dubai next week and plays a qualifier.
Sallydaisy
22-02-2025, 20:59
And Dan Evans has a WildCard into the Dubai draw ... where he'll be up against Khachanov in R1.
JAMES4578
23-02-2025, 13:38
unfortunately Jack faded in the 3rd though Rublev was strong, still had a good run this week and can build on it. Whist do not want to look to far ahead the two are in the same quarter for Dubai.
Sallydaisy
23-02-2025, 14:21
Jack has now withdrawn from the Dubai event.
Says he needs to rest his body ahead of the upcoming events in Indian Wells and Miami.

Jack has beaten Joao Fonseca 6-4 6-0 in Indian Wells. He will play Jenson Brooksby next.
JAMES4578
09-03-2025, 10:36
it was pretty tough initially and a long game to close out the opening set, thereafter though Jack outclassed his young opponent.
Jack Draper into the last 16 after a straight sets win over Jenson Brooksby.
JAMES4578

Jack playing Fritz tonight, level at 2 all in the Head to Head though Fritz won 2 of their 3 meetings last year. Hopefully a good performance!
Jack beat Fritz 7-5 6-4 and will face Ben Shelton in the quarters.
JAMES4578
13-03-2025, 11:16
it was a great performance from Jack, failed to serve it out the first time at 5-2 but overall was pretty dominant once he broke through in the first. scheduled to play Shelton from around Midnight tonight.
Jack wins again, and will face Alcaraz in the semis.
Sallydaisy
14-03-2025, 09:18
Fantastic run for Jack!!!
JAMES4578
14-03-2025, 10:51
yes Jack doing really well, another great performance-battled back from deficit early on in the 2nd. obviously Alcaraz tough but hopefully Jack gives it his all.
Jack will be playing tomorrow night. Both men's singles are after the ladies doubles match, so may not be that early.
JAMES4578
15-03-2025, 11:39
Jack/Alcaraz are 2nd semi, first scheduled not before 8.30 PM uk time.
And there is the women's doubles final beforehand so hopefully that will be over in time.
Jack wins a topsy turvy match 6-1 0-6 6-4, and will face Holger Rune in tomorrow's final.
Final is not before 10pm GMT.
I'd heard he'd made the final, earlier. Well done to Jack.
The final is scheduled for 9 pm (not 10 pm) UK time according to the ATP site and the BNP Paribas sites (7 hour time difference). The women's singles final starts at 6 pm.
Sorry, had forgotten that the clocks have already gone forward in the US.

yes fabulous win for Jack, strange scorelines in the first two sets mind you. Still jack stepped up when it mattered though needed two chances to serve it out. Hopefully no let down v Rune.

Jack off to a cracking start. Double-break up and about to serve at *3-0.
Don't want to jinx him or anything ...
:cauldron:
They're both wearing identical kit and with caps on back to front.
Jack has red shoes on ... Holger has white shoes on.
erm, Holger is trying to break back.

Holger gets on the board but it was a tough hold for 1-4.
Jack to serve next *4-1.
Holds for 5-1. Rune serving to stay in the first set.
P.S. I'm listening to the commentary on BBC5 Live Extra.
Jeff Tarango and Russell Fuller - decent live commies.

Jack missing the drop shots ...

Jack holds for 3-1
Holger also holds for 2-3.
Jack stays 1 break ahead at the moment; needs to hang on to that.
A double-break would be very nice.

Well done Jack, great match.
Jack who is now world no 7 is only 55 points behind Ruud and 60 points behind Djokovic so not far from 5th in the world. He is 1,100 points behind Fritz who is 4th in the world.
Congratulations to Jack on winning the title.
