Machac seals the break with a love service game for 3-0.
Andy seems to have gone awol ... big ask to come back from this but you never know with Muzzah!
Hopefully he can regroup and raise his game but needs to do it quickly. Feeling sad. x

The loss of concentration following the crowd movement issue has cost Andy
Last throw of the dice. x
HoopGirl
24-03-2024, 22:22
Think it might be too late now - 2-5 down.
He’s had chances but hes running out of time and opportunities
lovetennis
24-03-2024, 22:32
Andy retrieves the break. Must hold to take it to 5-5
2nd last throw of the dice? Can he hold here?? x

What a blow.
He had that in the bag
Oh dear. But Machac played really well. Andy was great too but level dropped towards the end.
HoopGirl
24-03-2024, 23:05
You are right Clancy he does have the courage of a lion!
Sallydaisy
24-03-2024, 23:05
He fought so hard and had the match on his racquet at *5-4 in the tie-breaker.
Ankle injury maybe beginning to be an issue at that point???

24-03-2024, 23:08
Bit of a bitter blow but Andy almost pulled off an amazing win in the circumstances! However marvellous fortitude, pity that he was distracted earlier mind you. Still Machac was tough.
HoopGirl
25-03-2024, 21:22
He’s pulled out of the doubles now too so that is that for him.
I read he’s looking forward to stopping playing and being at home with his family more.
What will we do without him?
Pulling out is possibly also to do with Korda still being in the singles and currently playing Hurkacz.
Nope, Andy has completely done in his ankle ligaments and will be out for "an extended period".
JAMES4578
25-03-2024, 22:32
Yes just noticed that, a bitter blow!
HoopGirl
25-03-2024, 22:46
Yep just seen this - looks really nasty. Amazed how he could play with that injury - just shows how determined he is
But he said he would be back with one hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right.

I was surprised he was able to finish the match after that problem - I hope he did not make it worse by continuing to play.
