Heather Watson and Ryan Peniston went out in RG qualies.
Only Billy Harris is through to the second round.
Well done to Billy Harris, who won in three sets yesterday against Manuel Guinard. He'll play Valentin Vacherot in his third and final qualifying round.

Could this be the end of an era as Nadal goes out to Zverev 6-3,7-6,6-3 , a number of long games and Rafa did serve for 2nd. Says though a high percentage it is his last French Open not 100% certain. Hopes to back at Rolland Garros for the Olympics.

Dan is 4th on Suzanne-Lenglen
Katie is 3rd on Court 14
Just been a loud fun match beween Etcheverry and Frenchman Cazaux.
Etcheverry loved Roland Garros as a kid so much he named his dog Roland Garros.
It has been raining. Play started a short while ago on outside courts and there has been an amendment to the schedule.
All doubles cancelled and Katie now 3rd on Court 7.

Dan has just started against Holger Rune.
Good Luck Evo!
:GBflag:
Will a Brit make it to round 2? Doubt it will be Dan...
We can always hope Rune is having an off day.
I don't think the extra slow rainy conditions are helping the Brits.

Dan did as well as he could against a very powerful player. For the first set and a half Dan was really playing well, but once he lost the break in the second set he seemed to settle for knowing he wasn't going to win.

Maybe they have revised the schedule. I can't see Andy/Dan.

The schedule has been totally changed so the focus is on Singles in Ladies and Mens.
A lot to catch up on after nearly 3 days of rain disruption.
There's masses of Doubles matches now scheduled for Friday 31st including Evans with Andy, Jamie Murray, Salisbury, Skupski and Cash and various partners. Also Boulter and Watson, Nicholls and Watson and their partners.
I now follow livescores on Flashscores. Once in the tennis section they put the events in order of size and by ATP then WTA. Also you can click on the link at top right to see what is planned for the next day.

I refuse to pay for Sky or Discovery+ so usually follow matches on livescores now.

RollyG might not be out of the woods regarding weather today ...
According to weathercom and acuweather there's a chance of thunderstorms and hail today!

Some news coming out of RollyG:-
Friday matches will start at 10am Paris time to try and catch up on any outstanding singles and doubles.
There'll be an extra match on Chatrier (possibly at night)
They will no longer allow booze to be taken into the stands
Anyone abusing players will be removed from the courtside ...
They are seeking the individual who spat chewing gut at David Goffin ...
Amelie Mauresmo is very concerned about the empty spaces on the show courts.
However I saw this on Twitter posted by a lawyer who attended this week.
Have typed what she posted.
Literally it is lunch. So we were only able to get premium tickets for 1R. Our tickets included lunch and drinks (below Lenglen). Drinks were all day (not to go though).
Lunch wasn't come and go; it was a set-time sit-down lunch that lasted 2.5hours. We didn't know this ahead.

while i have some sympathy, and this certainly wouldn't go down well at SW19 in Centre court, if your ticket includes lunch and drinks you aren't expected to drink ALL the time. Have a drink with your meal, have a drink in between matches, have a drink when play is done. No need to sit and drink all day. It's supposed to be going to watch the tennis and make a nice day of it, not go for a meal and watch a bit of tennis. and as an aside, there was hardly any-one on the showcourts for the later matches yesterday. I know the weather was bad, and most people would have got fed up, but the play was continuous on Chatrier and SL, yet the stands were half empty for the brilliant Osaka v Swiatek match. All the noise (and interruptions) was coming from the kids sat high up. was yesterday kid's day ? they used to have one at RG.

There are still 4 WTA and 4 ATP matches in progress.
3 of the 4 mens matches are into a 5th set.
1 of the WTA matches only started at 10.30pm - the one with Azarenka v Andreeva.
Late night ahead for players, officials and ballkids.
:pierre:
Looks like they are trying to finish them all. One problem is that the matches take longer at night as it is cooler and the balls are slower.
Sallydaisy

They're all done except for Azarenka v Andreeva.
Vika just took the 2nd set to level the match at 1-1.
It's midnight in Paris ... will they carry on tonight or finish tomorrow?
Anything could happen in that crazy place.

Andreeva won the 3rd 7-5, thought Musetti/Monfils would have been longer match but the Italian was in control after the first.
Yup, I was hoping for a longer Mofils Musetti match. Glad Andreeva pulled through.

This is tough to watch but Andy/Dan are fighting!
They did not give up but lost 2 tiebreak sets.
At least the loss will give them more time to adapt to grass. Andy is meant to be playing Surbiton next week.

Lo and behold he managed to win.

Cracker between Zverev and Rune too.

A lot of drama yesterday, even if Djokovic was gutsy Cerrundolo had a bit to deal with- missed great chance though! Anyway Novak has now pulled out, a torn medial meniscus in the right knee apparently.
Sinner has reached the semi for the first time. He is also now World No 1.
JAMES4578
05-06-2024, 10:00
yes well done Sinner! He will face Alcaraz in the semi after the spaniard put out Tsitsipas 6-3,7-6,6-4. Ruud will face the winner of Zverev and De Minaur.
JAMES4578

Men's final will be between Alcaraz and Zverev, an exciting match with Carlos and Sinner - strong start from Jannik and was up 2 sets to 1 but Alcaraz seemed to have more stamina as he took decider 6-3 (Sinner did have cramp in hand at one point though). Zverev came back from slow start to win in 4, Ruud though apparently had stomach bug half way through.
Alcaraz and Zverev Head to Head.

Fabulous 5 set final, whilst could have been bit of a blow when Alcaraz was unable to serve out the 3rd and lost it 7-5 zverev could not maintain the momentum. A high level from Carlos to clinch the next two 6.1,6-2 (though the final set closer than the score suggested) such determination as Alcaraz took his 3rd slam (all on different surfaces) even if was a bit up and down for parts of the contest.
