View Full Version : Slimmer's thread
From September 2011
Just wanted to start this up again cos we're on the slippery slope to Christmas where we'll all be indulging and I, for one, want to make sure I don't fall off the waggon!
Just weighed in for the 33rd time this year and I have lost another pound - that's a total of 30.5 lbs this year
 :bounce:
Well done Jane, you are a shadow of your former self!!!
That is just amazing, Jane, very well done indeed http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx352/LuvH8/clapping.gifhttp://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx352/LuvH8/clapping.gifhttp://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx352/LuvH8/clapping.gif
Well done thats brilliant!
Ive lost 2.5lbs in last few weeks so getting there slowly.
I've lost a button from a jacket.
I've lost an earring :( :( :(
All the weight I lost, I found it again!! :( :( :(
All the weight I lost, I found it again!! :( :( :(
Funny you should say that, so have I. It can only be these parties/reunions/watching Andy, and wine as I do not eat any more than usual and we eat very healthily. Think I'll give up! Skinny old woman is not an attractive look I've decided.
Well I have certainly put on weight during the US Open - all the stress makes me eat
Me too
So the DC weekend didn't help! lol But I'm not going to worry...life's too short, well it is for me

I'm a silly billy - I panicked slightly that I was going to put the half pound back on that I lost last week when I stood on the scales this morning so I changed out of my jeans into a pair of leggings and a long tunic/dress top (lighter than what I was wearing) and set off feeling confident that I was going to stay the same .... but when I got to the class I looked at the sheet to find that actually in my jeans I was weighing the same as last week and so I lost half a pound!!!!
 :rolling: :yahoo:
10 pounds to go to goal
Well done Jane. Got the feeling I spent my 49 pro points in one fell swoop at a meal out last night!

It was very yummy though :big grin: :red devil:
Signed up to WW online last Sunday and have lost 2 lbs - pretty pleased as I'd been dieting on my own before that and lost a stone but needed a kick/something different to get me back on the straight and narrow! Had put about 3 lbs back on, so not yet back to where I was.

I think that's where I always fail. I am far too impatient and never get to see the results as I never stick at it for too long. Once I see a major difference it will spur me on to lose more.
hfwardhouse
23-10-2011, 21:37
You just have to stick with it - routine is really important though - and eating more protein helps a huge amount - especially if you're upping your exercise levels - I think going to the class has been the answer for me because I'd never done that before - it made me focus more and seeing the weight coming down every week has made such a huge difference. I love going shopping again - well I always did, but I'd really lost interest in buying clothes, except big, shapeless, tops .... I bought a new dress yesterday - in the designer range in Debenhams (sale obviously ;)) - it's a size 10 and I'm so chuffed!!!
VamosVixs
23-10-2011, 21:40

I have lots of lovely clothes in the wardrobe which are sizes 12-14s. At my slimmest I got into 10s easily, don't know if I can reach that again but for now will be delighted to reach a size 14.

23-10-2011, 21:44
Go for it - I'm really sorry I didn't keep my size 12-14s - I had a huge clearout cos I thought I'd never get back there again .... am sooo chuffed!!! TBH I was never a 10 so I guess the sizes have been tweaked but hey, I'm happy!

I had salmon, baked potato and salad + New York cheese cake. We also had wine. Much later I had a packet of crisps!! We never buy crisps but husband had brought them back from town saying that our son always asks if we have any nibbles. He does and we don't!! Crisps are now in the house as they didn't want any!!!

Half a pound off is still going in the right direction - and 3 meals out in a week is a lot .... says she who's eating out the next couple of days .... so keep up the good work Pat
Last week I reported that I weighed myself on the tennis club scales and was shocked to find that I weigh half a stone more there than at home! However I weighed myself there again last night and was five pounds less than last week :big grin:
Only at least two stone to go :crying:
It will all go wrong tomorrow night though, when I attend the annual committee dinner at the yacht club. It is a set menu, the starter is goat's cheese tart and the pudding is lemon meringue pie! Two lots of pastry! I wonder if the chef will be annoyed if I leave the pastry?

You probably need to go to a weightwatchers class - I never would've believed I could lose so much weight .... I've impressed myself!
I need to go back to Slimmer's World as that is the only diet that's worked for me in the past. The trouble is, I know how to diet, but I have no willpower :shamed:
hfwardhouse
15-12-2011, 22:23
Might be worth a change of diet then - I've tried several different ones over the years, but this one has worked a treat .... it is all about portion size at the end of the day .... not easy I know but having someone with me helped greatly too as we've motivated each other.
Not the best of suggestions Jane but for a short time probably no harm if you try to avoid much by way of brekkie or lunch over Xmas. At least that will reduce the points a bit.

I'm being good though and restricting myself to no more than 5 chocs a day .... weight is stable so I'm not too worried .... just hope I've managed to lose a wee bit to kick start my campaign though!
Was really cross with the Wii Fit tonight - weighed in for the first time in 266 days (:rolling:) to find that I'm still not light enough for it to consider me "healthy" and my wee mii is still a chubby chops :crying: .... I did however manage in those 266 days to lose 1 st 3 lbs :yahoo:

Erm...........56 Mars Bars? I'll bet your friends who run are health buffs anyway who either only eat healthily or aren't as interested in food as we afflicted.
Jane - I'm having 2 chocs every evening instead of pud. I was doing that even before Xmas but with Tesco mint and turkish delight thins. Finishing off the Belgian chocs at the minute.
Well, I wouldn't eat 56 Mars bars. Or even one. I don't like them much. I do eat healthily most of the time. I have a good friend who joined the running club and lost 2 stone without dieting, and she loves her food.

Yes of course - forgot you don't like chocolate. I suppose the thing is to eat as you normally do and then you should lose weight. Some people think because they start running that they can up what they eat and lose weight.

That'll soon come back off. Maybe you need to tread water for a bit, then take a deep breath and make a renewed effort. There's nothing worse than feeling disheartened because you've put a bit on and then finding it difficult to diet again. Aiming to stay the same for a bit can be beneficial IMHO.

The exercise regime will start after the AO finishes.

I wonder if anyone has heard of, or tried, the Newcastle University Diet which is an 800 calorie diet designed for diabetics. It apparently can use the fat which has been built up in the pancreas and can cure/reduce effects of diabetes. It uses a meal replacement called Optifast (3 sachets each day) plus 3 portions of non-starchy vegetables and 3 litres of water or calorie-free beverages. I wonder if this really works as I have 5 injections each day and would dearly love to do away with those or even reduce the number. I would appreciate any information available on this.
