He’s out. He still hopes to play doubles with Jamie. But this is definitely it. Very, very sad, but I am incredibly relieved.

Sad he not playing singles but it is right decision. He shouldn’t be playing singles at current state at moment especially best of 5 sets. Doubles will give him better chance go further and less risk injury himself.

Well I guess Goffin will be grateful to Andy.

Goffin and Machac now last on Court 17.

pleased for Goffin that he's back in main draw. He continues to work hard on the tour, plugging away here there and everythere on all tours and surfaces.

personally think it is the right decision, though obviously a pity Andy is not able to play singles at Wimbledon a final time. Just would have been too much of a risk as sad as it is. Hopefully fine for the Doubles with Jamie. Goffin getting in is a silver lining. Andy just had much misfortune recently, still can be thankful for all the great memories!

It is the right decision but Andy will be so disappointed to leave this way. Just hope he gets to play doubles and he is acknowledged as he deserves. Life's a ***** at times and Andy has never had much 'luck' in his career. I wanted Jurgen to go out with a bang (for my sons' sakes) and I wanted Andy to go out the same (for his sake) but it wasn't to be. Hope today becomes a good memory for him. x

Really saddened at this news.
Surprised too as I thought he would play regardless.
It might be the right decision but it’s devastating for us all.
Yesterday when he was speaking to the press I thought all I could see was a man full of grief.
Such tough luck he’s had - hope they are able to make the doubles super c9mpetitive and that there’s a great crowd cheer8ng him on.

Goffin so nearly did it. It went to a 5th set tie break and Machac won.

certainly Goffin was a tough opponent for Machac, was originally 2 sets down (played over 2 days).
