Random! I am watching swimming same time, Aussie lady just won gold and Olympic record and in crowd Hewitt and De Minor (spelling?) was cheering her on! Wasn't expecting see tennis players during swimming event.
Anyway hope they HOLD ON and serve set out please!!!

Speedy - I think one of the great things about the Olympics is that ALL the team try to support one another.
So anyone not involved in an event often goes along to cheer their team-mates in other disciplines.

Andy/Dan take the first set 6'3.

Sally, yep it is! Still fun to spot them in crowd on TV etc.
Phew glad they manage to hold win set. Hopefully win 2nd set as well.
Didn't realise they were so high ranking (had not heard of them and thought the French boys would win the earlier round). 2nd set may be harder. x

Was Andy crying at the end? I thought he was
Sallydaisy
30-07-2024, 21:35
Yes he was. After the euphoria of the win, the emotions set in.
:sirandy:
Yes he was crying, bless him. They're supposed to play their next match tomorrow but their opponents still have to play.

Was out tonight but just watched the match! Wow! They fully deserved that win. Andy crying at the end had me tearing up. The emotions he must be feeling! I'm so not ready to get off this murraycoaster
Superb!! What a retirement roller-coaster he is giving us! Don't think I could love him more. Thank you Dan for making it possible. x
I watched it on the BBC's iPlayer and thought it was going a bit too easy for Andy and Dan. The wi-fi then played up, at the beginning of the third and final set, much to my annoyance. But, luckily, it settled down and started working again just before the set started. I hoped they would come back from the two match points down, fantastic. I then listened to radio Five Live as they replayed their commentary on the men's 4x200m freestyle swimming final and the end of Andy and Dan's match.
The only thing I know about Haase and Rojer is they are both old timers! Are they established doubles players? I know Fritz and Paul as pretty good singles players but have they played much doubles and together? So want Andy and Dan to progress to a medal of any colour! x

Rojer is a quality doubles player, currently ranked 27 but has been as high as 3. Haase never quite fulfilled his potential, brilliant shot maker but didn't get the results his talent merited. Haase ranked 57 in doubles, 1199 in singles but only played one tour level match in singles this year.
Thank you Suttontennis. The question is which would Andy and Dan cope better with - the experienced duo or the young US bucks? They will have to face whoever wins later. x
