Sad no line judge this year. Knew it was coming but still sad.

Jack been drawn against the 38th ranked Sebastian Baez, could be Bublik in 3rd and Mensik/Cobolli in last 16. without looking too far ahead is in Djokovic's quarter. Tough for Cameron,Jacob and Billy Harris. pity Dan and Jay drawn together, the winner in all likelihood to face Djokovic. Emma to face fellow Brit Xu also with Mccartney Kessler or Vondrousova next in line. Katie has tough draw against 9th seed Paula Badosa.

There seems to be a lot of brits drawing either seeds or players doing well at the moment.

Shame Jacob Fearnley is playing Fonseca first round. I would have like both players to win a few rounds.

Stell
28-06-2025, 05:34
Hubert Hurkacz pulled out injured, after the draw was done, and earned himself ?33,000. Not fair on Dusan Lajovic, who now plays Billy Harris or even Harris himself as one of those two will only get half of the remaining prize money on offer for the first round loser.

cazza99
29-06-2025, 08:57
Why would Billy Harris only get half if he loses his first round match. He was in the main draw on his ranking and not a qualifier or lucky loser?

Kartel has just taken out seeded Ostapenko

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 12:16
Fab win for Sonay - came from behind 2-5 in the first set to take that 7'5, lost the 2nd 2'6, as Ostapenko found some form, and came back strong and steady to notch up the 3rd set 6'2 and the match.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 12:18
Cam Norrie has taken the 1st set 6'3 against Bautista-Agut.
Could have been 6'2 but the Spaniard held on a bit longer.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 12:21
Arthur Fery is a break up against Popyrin and has just held for 5'3 in the first set.

Ollie Tarvel is serving for the match against fellow qualifier Riedi, 6'4, 6'4, 6'4, 30-0

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 13:11
Fery now 2-0 (6'4, 6'1) v Popyrin.

However, the 3rd set has started badly for the British player.
He dropped his opening serve and Pops held so Fery is serving at *0-2 and was 0-30 but has now held for 1-2.

Tsitsipas lost the opening set 3'6 to Frenchman Royer.
MeddyBear is down by 1-2 sets to Benjamin Bonzi and the Frenchman is a break up in the 4th set.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 13:18
Sadly the other Oliver didn't make it to R2; lost to Italian Matteo Bellucci who won 6'7, 6'3, 6'4, 6'4.

Fery still a break down to Popyrin in set 3; the Aussie about to serve at *3-2

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 13:25
Meddy just lost 1st round for first time.

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 13:27

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 13:38
Norrie takes the 3rd set, needs 1 more for the 2nd round.
Popyrin took the 3rd set but Fery still has the lead of 2-1.

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 13:43
Carlos won 1st set.
Tsitsipas just lost 2nd set so 2-0 down.
Rune won 2nd set so he is 2-0 up.
Felix broke his opponent first service game in 1st set so he is break up 3-2 at moment.

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 13:46
Tsitsipas just retired after losing 2nd set.

EDIT: Carlos break up 2nd set and Felix won 1st set.

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 14:37

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 14:43
Fantastic win for Arthur Fery, a Wildcard into Wimbledon.
6'4, 6'1, 4'6, 6'4.

Glad that Cam Norrie came through too!

That's 3 out of 4 British men through.

Fonseca took the first set 6'4 v Jake Fearnley ...
... and Foggy has taken the 2nd set off Alcatraz!!!

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 15:18
Henry Searle, Wimbledon Junior Boys Champion 2023, is up against American Ethan Quinn WR89.
The Brit has just taken the first set 6'4 despite being ranked 389, 300 places below his opponent.

Foggy is having a lovely time against Alcatraz; just had another break point on the Spaniard's serve!
But Carlos holds ...

Speedy Hawk
30-06-2025, 15:44
Finally!! Carlos got 3rd set. Phew. Now to 4th soon.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 15:51
Billy Harris took the first set 6'3 against Dusan Lajovic and is a break up 3-1 in the 2nd.

Fonseca has just beaten Jake Fearnley in 3 sets 6'4, 6'1, 7'6(5)

Searle and Quinn now one set all.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 16:06
Billy Harris now 2-0 v Lajovic.
Henry Searle has a break of serve in the 3rd set v Quinn, about to serve at *3-2

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 16:13
Foggy just broke Alcatraz.

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 16:51
2-2 all after Foggy took the 4th set 6'2.
Alcaraz leads 3-0 with a break in the 5th set.

Well done Billy Harris!!! 6'3, 6'2, 6'4 over Lajovic takes the Brit into R2.

Henry Searle has just lost a tough tie-breaker in the 3rd set, Quinn took it 7'6 (11).
Still a possible 2 sets to go if the British player has reserves and and skill to win both!

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 17:20
Alcaraz wins - finally!!!

Quinn d Searle.

Great for cameron, that looked like a tough draw, great for Ferry too and well done Harris! Not too surprised Fonesca got the better of Fearnley, hoped it would be closer though.

certainly a scare for Carlos butt was struggling for consistenccy, stepped up in the 5th mind you. A few upsets with Medvedv and Rune defeated. ons Jabeur retiring as well as Tsitsipas.

Emma through fairly comfortably 6-3,6-3 over Xu though faces Vondrusova next. Katie has just beaten Badoda 6-2,3-6,6-4- great result!

Sallydaisy
30-06-2025, 19:35
Fantastic win for Katie Boulter!!!
Badosa serving for the match just couldn't find a winner and Katie hung tough.
6'2, 3'6, 6'4.

Bit tricky following who was who what with identical hairdo's and outfits!

Pleased for Dan the Man and the 2 Jacks coming through today.

In R2:-
Arthur Fery v Dardieri
Billy Harris v Borges
Cam Norrie v Tiafoe
Oliver Tarvet v Alcaraz

Jack Draper v Marin Cilic (still dangerous on grass!)
Jack Pinnington-Jones v #22, Cobolli
Dan Evans v the winner of Muller v Djokovic (Dan beat Nole in Monte Carlo!)

Shame about Burrage, Jones, Watson, Loffhagen and Monday.

Sallydaisy
01-07-2025, 20:42
For the ladies in R2:-

Raducanu v Vondroussova
Boulter v LL Sierra
Kartal v Tomova

JAMES4578
02-07-2025, 16:15
certainly a huge number of upsets already-Zverev and Gauff the biggest casualties (laterally not too much of a fight from Gauff)

Great win for Norrie not so long ago over 12th seed Tiafoe in 4- a strong performance - well done! Sonay Kartal through comfortably. As expected Alcaraz too strong for Oliver Tarvet-2 sets down.

Sallydaisy
02-07-2025, 16:27
Boulter got back into the match - now a tie-break for the 1st set.
Both have dropped serve ...
Katie had set point at *6-4 but dropped her serve.
Over to Foxtrot Oscar Sierra ...
;)
6-6* at the change of ends.

Sallydaisy
02-07-2025, 16:30
7-6* as Sierra now drops her serve. Katie has 2 goes to nail it.

*7-7

*8-7 Sierra to serve to stay in the set.

... and finally! GBR 1, ARG 0

Sallydaisy
02-07-2025, 16:31
Borges d Billy Harris in 3 sets.

Sallydaisy
02-07-2025, 17:33
Sierra d Boulter, taking the 3rd set 6'1.

Alcaraz d Tarvet.

JAMES4578
02-07-2025, 17:37
certanly disappointing with Katie, likely a bit of a let down. pity for Billy Harris but Borges is a top 40 player.

A good performance from Emma putting out the 2023 champion Vondrousova (who won in Berlin last week)6-3,6-3. was expecting a tougher match ,not the kindest of draws though the no1 seed Sabalenka awaits. seeds 2 to 5 all out mind you after Paolini's exit to in 3 to Rakhimova.

it will be Bellucci next for cameron who put out Lehecka in straights, in an interesting match up Fonesca got the better of Brooksby 6-4,5-7,6-2,6-4.

JAMES4578
03-07-2025, 19:29
What a disappointment as Jack goes down to Cilic 6-4,6-3,1-6,6-4. potentially it was a tough match(despite the ranking) and the Croatian has come back from adversity. An explosive performance but still Draper had a bit of a slow start and could not quite find the level to maintain the momentum in the 4th. Tommy Paul out to Ofner 7-5 in the 4th though.

Much as expected for Dan really but a blow as he was bagelled in a third , a strong serving display from Djokovic though. Sinner sailed through against Vukic 6-1,6-1,6-3. Iga Swiatek avoided the upsets in coming from behind to beat McNally 5-7,6-2,6-1.

Fantastic turnaround by Sonay Kartal to come from 0-3 to winning the set 6'4

Fingers crossed Sonay can keep up the level and Parry doesn't find hers!

Sallydaisy
04-07-2025, 13:53
Sonay Kartal through to R4 at Wimbledon after a stunning win over Diane Parry.
6'4, 6'2.

Cam Norrie now on Court 1 against Mattia Bellucci.

Speedy Hawk
04-07-2025, 15:03
Fritz keep diving and apparently it is 3rd time same elbow is bleeding and need medical timeout treatment.

Hopefully Norrie hold out to win set.

Speedy Hawk
04-07-2025, 15:04
Norrie managed to hold on and won 1st set. Defo have trouble against Italian.

Sallydaisy
04-07-2025, 15:05
Norrie trailed Bellucci by 0-2 before he got on the board, eventually broke back and they're now in a tie-break for the first set.

At the change of ends it's Norrie with the mini-break and Bellucci serving:-
*2-4
*3-4
3-5* Norrie holds - needs to keep holding.
4-5* he didn't
*5-5 but Bellucci does
*5-6 Norrie breaks and earns his first set point.
5-7*

Well played Cam! That's the 1st set in the bag.

Emma lost 6-7 4-6 to Sabalenka but Emma did play extremely well.

JAMES4578
04-07-2025, 22:11
certainly an impressive display from Emma with a number of great shots, a few errors at crucial times mind you though obviously Sabalenka also stepped up. The 2nd set was a bit frustrating -slipped away as at one stage Emma had a bp for 5-1.

still positive overall!

After a bit of a slow Norrie controlled proceedings with Bellucci, will now meet Jarry in the last 16 who get the better of Fonesca in 4. Sonay came back strongly against Diane Parry and will now face Pavlyuchenkova who get the better of Oaska 6-4 in the 3rd.

After a strong start Alcaraz was tested but had too much for Struff winning 6-4 in the 4th.

Stell
05-07-2025, 05:34

Pavs took the first set against Kartal 7'6(3). Close fought match! Sonay 55 points, Pav 57
On serve 1-1 so far in the 2nd set.

Norrie has just broken Jarry and will serve for the 1st set at *5-3 ...
... and duly notches up that set for 1-0

JAMES4578
06-07-2025, 14:53
unfortunately Sonay misses out 7-6,6-4. Had some chances but not to be,whilst Pavs has similar ranking very experienced. A good start from Cameron, now 5 all in 2nd.

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 15:07
Norrie v Jarry into a tie-break for the 2nd set.
Only 1 break point opportunity so far per player and neither were able to take it.

Jarry to serve first:
*1-0
1-1*
2-1* Oops, Jarry has the first mini-break.
*2-2 As you were ...
*2-3 Mini-break to Cam
2-4* And hold, 1 more serve to come for Cam after the change of ends
2-5* That'll do nicely ... 2 more points please for the set.
*3-5
*4-5 Cam must now hold both his serves to stop the Jarry resurgence
4-6*
4-7*

Well held Cameron Norrie - now leads 2 sets to 0!
:tennis:

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 15:42
Going with serve in the 3rd set - Jarry to serve next at *3-4 after the change of ends.

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 16:09
Tie-break, Cam serving first:
*1-0
1-1*
1-2* Jarry is serving bombs! 15 Aces so far in the 3rd set.
*2-2
*3-2 Cam could do with a break now ...
4-2* And he gets a vital break. Another after the change of ends would be useful ...
4-3*
*5-3
*5-4 DF Norrie - hands back the mini-break
5-5*
6-5* Norrie has a match point after a stunning forehand brings up a mini-break
*6-6 Ooops!
*6-7 Jarry gets a double-break and will serve for the 3rd set. Expect an Ace!
7-7* DF from Jarry.
7-8* 2nd set point for Jarry.

Jarry takes the 3rd set!!!

Cam will have to fight again for the 4th set.

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 16:16
Jarry has just served his 35th Ace of the match during his hold of the first game of the 4th set.

JAMES4578

I think if Pavlyuchenkova hadn't gotten fired up by that ridiculous bad call then Sonay would have won.

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 17:12
Tie break for the 4th set.
Jarry serving first:
*1-0
2-0* Cam dropped his
2-1*
*2-2
*2-3 Jarry dropped both
2-4* hold from Cam. Needs to hang on in for another 3 points.
3-4* Back on serve ...
*4-4
*5-4
5-5*
6-5* Set point Jarry and he has 2 serves
*7-5 Jarry takes the 4th set and we're into a deciding 5th

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 18:23
Cam Norrie finally got over the line, winning the 5th set 6'3.
Through to the Quarter-Finals where he'll meet the winner of Alcaraz v Rublev.
The Russian has taken the 1st set on a tie-break so that match could go on for some time.

Suspect Cam will want a 'day-off' tomorrow to recoup energy before facing either of them!
Good to see him back healthy and competitive again after a couple of years on/off health issues.

JAMES4578
06-07-2025, 19:09
Great to see Cameron in a rich vein of form, could have won it more decisively but Jarry made it tough in a bit of a dramatic match! Certainly stepped up in the decider-well done! :swingin: Alcaraz levelled with Rublev and now takes 3rd 6-4 so would seem to be in the acendancy.

Sallydaisy
06-07-2025, 19:59
Alcaraz d Rublev 3-1.

The bottom half QF's are:-

Awful for Grigor Dimitrov ... leading 2-0 against Jannik Sinner ...
... and then just as he held serve for 2-2 in the 3rd set he hurt a pectoral muscle and has had to retire.

Sinner through to the Quarter Final 3'6, 5'7, 2-2 W/O.

yes real pity for Dimi, need to see but may be out for a while. Sinner was finding it very tricky (though not finding best form), cannot be sure he would not have extended the match otherwise but would have been tough situation. Djokovic had poor start and De Minaur took full advantage but Novak was able to turn it around 1-6,6-4,6-4,6-4. seemed to be an issue in some of the longer rallies mind you. Alex though unable to capitalse on 4-1 lead in 4th. Anyway Sinner will now face Shelton and Djokovic Cobolli (who ended Cilic's hopes in 4 sets).

Mirra Andreeva looking like a possible contender as she eased pasts Navarro 6-2,6-3 and will now face Bencic who is in her first Wimbledon quarter.

Siegemund has taken the 1st set 6'4 against Sabalenka.
The Russian is now 5'2 up in the 2nd with the German to serve next to stay in the set.

Fritz is 2-1 sets up on Khachanov.

Taylor Fritz is through to his first Wimbledon Semi-Final after a 4th set tie-break win.
6'3, 6'4, 6'1, 7'6(4)

He'll play the winner of the next QF: Cameron Norrie v Carlos Alcaraz

Poor start from Cam; down 2-5 after just holding his serve. Alcaraz is a double break up and serving for the first set.

Sallydaisy

Alcaraz wins 6'2, 6'3, 6'3.
No contest really, the Spaniard absolutely turned up the pace.
Norrie couldn't find his serve or form that he displayed so well 2 days ago.

A pity for Cameron but he was up against it today and Carlos definitely stepped up! Alcaraz seemed to gain the momentum after saving 4 bp's early on and Norrie could not quite find the form to really challenge him. The time on court was likely a factor, still a good run for Cameron! Fritz having a good tournament but think he will need another gear for the semi.

Laura Siegmund certainly gave Sabalenka a bit of a scare, twice a break up in the 3rd but the word no1 recovered to win 4-6,6-2,6-4, a bit of a missed opportunity though and Aryna will now play Anismova.

Cash/Glasspool win the 3 Brit quarter, but unfortunately Joe and Neal lost so we won't have an all British semi. Instead they will play Granollers/Zeballos.

Semis are set!

Tomorrow, Sabalenka plays Anisimova and then Bencic plays Swiatek.

On Friday, it's Fritz v. Alcaraz and Sinner v. Djokovic.

JAMES4578

Not too much trouble for Sinner today, outplayed shelton in straight sets (first set breaker may have been important) A bit of a challenge for Djokovic but Cobolli could not do enough, a bit of a bad tumble near the end mind you as Novak took it 6-4 in the 4th. Maybe a bit of a surprise that Bencic got the better of Andreeva in two breakers,a bit more resistance in the 2nd but Samsonova could not stop Swiatek also reaching her first Wimbledon semi.

Stell - Taylor Fritz has NOT announced his retirement so I have deleted your post.

It's Tim Van Rijthoven who has said he's retiring from playing tennis.
Jordan Thompson retired against Fritz in the R16.

Sorry, it wasn't Taylor Fritz who announced his retirement. It was Tim van Rijthoven, who beat Taylor Fritz in 2022, has announced his retirement.

A tussle between Anisimova and Sabalenka , Amanda was the stronger though as she took it 6-4,4-6,6-4(though failed to serve it out at 5-3), In contrast Iga Swiatek eased past Bencic for the loss of 2 games.

Cash/Glasspool got the better of Granollers/Zeballos 6-3,6-4 in just over an hour, well done! Joe Salisbury/Luisa Stefani lost out on the Mixed Doubles final to Verbeek/Siniakova in two Breakers.

Men's Final will be Alcaraz v. Sinner.

JAMES4578
12-07-2025, 11:31
Men's semi went much as expected. Fritz done better than i thought though and put Alcaraz under some pressure with some big strike tennis though a lapse cost the spaniard the second. Carlos overall strong on returns and even though Taylor was a point away from a 5th set Alcaraz stepped up in the key moments.

Sinner was just too strong for Djokovic as he swept him in straights, Novak may not have been 100% fit but think the contrast in movement would likely have been apparent anyway. There was a glimmer when Jannik faltered early in the 3rd and Djokovic had a bp for 4-0 but the tables turned again after a sloppy game, Sinner winning 6 out of the last 7 games.

Anyway should be entertaining final though remains to be seen if the quality will match the French.

Great performance from Julian and Lloyd-well done! :swingin::swingin:, certainly an achievement. Whilst up against a bit of a scratch pairing they had put out the top seeds Arevalo/Pavic.

I thought Swiatek would win in straights but not in that manner, Anisimova was so tight and it looked bleak when she failed to get on the board at the start of the 2nd- disappointing. Still Iga returned very well and took full advantage to add Wimbledon to her list of slams and looked comfortable on grass. Would have been a lot tougher had it been against Sabalenka obviously.

The Spaniard is going for a 3rd consecutive Wimbledon Title, Sinner his first.

First break of serve to the Italian!!! Serving at *3-2 in the 1st set.

Not the drama of the French but an entertaining final, hoped for more from Alcaraz mind you. carlos came back strongly to win the first but thereafter Sinner tended to dictate. Alcaraz though missed break points at 3-4 down in the 4th. Jannik overall was able to attack more whilst carlos' flair did not pay off. The Italian though was the better player and deserved his first Wimbledon title, well done!

Pity Alfie Hewitt lost both finals (not at best with Gordon Reid), did take first set from the word no1 Oda but the challenge proved too much in the end and lost 3-6,7-5,6-2. Still another good run!
