:help: I've just stored a Word document I have amended into a temporary area by mistake, but can't find it. Does anyone have an idea where to look. It does not come up in searches. I have Windows 7.
It was an extracted zip file.
Not sure what you mean by 'stored a Word document I have amended into a temporary area'. You mean you saved the file without checking where it was saved to?
Only place I can think of is C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\Temp. AppData is a hidden folder though so you'll have to unhide hidden folders to see it.
:thanks: Yup, I saved a file I had been amending, and hadn't realised it was saved in a temporary area. :doh: Something to do with staying up too late last night watching tennis! After ages I managed to find it and it was in AppData.
I had to have my computer fixed this week , had some kind of virus and was wacky .
Paid 120 bucks to have it removed , I get it home and the next day realize all my antivirus protection has been disabled , and I now have a weird toolbar , and its running really slow !!!
Im thinking I may just throw it out the window , and start over with another one . So annoying !!
Remove that toolbar, that might be what is slowing it down.

The new style Photobucket is annoying me so much :grrr: I am uploading my photos which is likely to take an hour or so, and it just keeps playing an ad for IslamicMarriage.com over and over again. There doesn't seem to be any way of stopping it so I've just turned the sound down to zero - but I want to watch a live stream of Barcelona so it looks like I'll have to watch it with no sound :grrr: Also Photobucket tells me that my storage is nearly full so I suppose they are going to extract more money from me :grrr:
Linda, have you considered using Skydrive via your hotmail account? That'd give you quite a bit of storage and it's quick to upload as well.

The ad did eventually stop repeating so I was able to turn the sound back on. The pics eventually finished uploading but they were in the wrong album. Took ages to get them moved - for some reason, first of all I couldn't highlight all the pics, then I couldn't drag them, but finally did it. I still need to upload my vids somewhere - Photobucket for some reason doesn't recognise them - I suppose I should try YouTube.
I personally use Imageshack. Frankly they used to be rubbish as they only allowed you to store 500 images and no videos unless you payed but now they offer 5GB of storage for photos/videos for free which I think is a bit more than Photobucket. Also, no video ads. :)
This isn't a 'woe', but just a silly question. You know when you watch livescorehunter streams in the small screen you get those ads popping up in front of the screen? Well, it's very strange but several times recently I've noticed that the ads are for things I've recently bought. Just now an Amazon ad popped up for some shoes that I bought from them a few weeks ago. Is there some way that these ads are individually tailored?
ETA - I've got my answer. The ad just popped up again and I saw it had the word 'Privacy' in the corner, so I clicked on it and it took me to an Amazon page telling me all about individually tailored ads.
Hmmm that's interesting, Linda. Must watch out for that.

Help not really forum related but tennis related
Ive just deleted all my blackberry pictures all 530 of them dating from last year.Although I have most saved elsewhere my recent holiday and wimbledon ones are gone.I was transfering them to my tablet and for some reason it uploaded all of them which i didnt want on there. so i deleted the gallery file but it deleted them off my phone too - when i reinserted the SD into my blackberry they are all gone im so upset.
Anyone know if I can retrieve deleted files from a tablet?!
I don't know if this helps but we accidentally deleted stuff from our camera sd card and we found a programme online that retrieves the stuff on your sd card........just off to see if I can find it.........ok not sure if this is the exact same one but it appears it will do the job - I guess you can insert your phone sd card into the computer?

I think it's free but am not sure. I can't remember if we paid for the one we used. We may have done as it would have been worth a small amount. There are other products if you google sd card recovery and I think you may find useful stuff on YouTube (there's not much you can't find there!!).

Thanks for your help, it was a paid software for around $39 but finding that software lead me to another one and photos are recovered! So thank you!
Who knew i could be so emotional about some pictures - but they really do matter for memories dont they?!

Can anyone help with a laptop with a "crack" on the screen? It's internal and getting worse all the time. Minnie's gonna struggle to do her homework unless the screen can be fixed!!! Can it be replaced? :help:

An alternative would be to find a small independent computer shop that does repairs. Sometimes they are cheaper and you get a better service than large chains.

Help..Can anyone who uses twitter help me. Noticed that I'd received a tweet from someone so searched and saw he is a Colombian trainee reporter. As his tweets were in Spanish clicked for translation. Then went to send a tweet and I got what looks like prescriptive text and info I don't understand. Don't know what I've done, don't know how to fix it...don't know anything!! Just took a deep breath and clicked on reload and everything back to normal. That was really weird for a technophobe like me.
Does anyone have an i-pod touch and can help me out? Mine has started repeating every song when on "shuffle". I haven't set this up. I have tried everything but can't seem to sort it out. I have to manually select the next song to stop it doing this, it's so annoying!!

Sorry I only know CTL and + on normal keyboard, don't know how to get both those on screen at once on an Ipad.

I can't remember the best way to do this but I start typing a reply, go advanced and preview post. Might have to click on link to see it but it certainly brings up a more complete picture though I'm not sure it was the whole width for this link. Obviously don't post my reply. Until someone posts a better way .....

I don't know about an IPad, but on a PC if you right click and "view image" you can see the whole thing.

Can anyone help. Just written a chunk of info on my Canada blog and it disappeared after I was suddenly asked if I wanted to leave page.
If you go back straight to the thread look for an autosave prompt somewhere near the bottom of the posting box. If there is one there click on it and it should come back.
Usually the text of posts is autosaved if you have been on the post for a while and it crashes out.

Tried that last night and nothing. Couldn't understand it as has worked in the past. Just tried again without success. So frustrating when I'd written a lot.
We recommend typing long posts into Word or an equivalent piece of software, and then copying and pasting it into the forum.

Sometimes it appears and was sure it had while I was writing. But I'm not sure how to get it back, thought it just appeared.

I assume you use Windows PC?
You could open "Notepad" software (all windows PC have them build in free).
Type in whatever you want say in your blog.
Then
Press "CTRL" key and letter "A" key together. It will highlight all text in notepad software for you.
Then
Press "CTRL" key and letter "C" key together. It will copy text for you.
Then
Go to this forum and go quick reply box.
Then
Press "CTRL" key and letter "V" key together. It will paste text for you. You should see it appear.
Then
Post it.

Two weeks ago, I had a power cut. Since then, my Acer Chromebook 15 and HP Envy 5530 e-All-in-One printer won't communicate with each other. Can anyone help?
Sounds like the printer has lost it's IP address, so your Chromebook is now looking in the wrong place.
I know that this has nothing to do with this website, but just to let people know I've finally got my printer working again. I had a power cut, about three or so months ago, and my laptop kept thinking it was sending things to be printed to my printer. But, the printer never responded. After, inadvertently, being in contact with HP in America, I was given the website for HP here. They wanted £18 to sort out the problem, but I got onto their support forum. In the end, someone suggested that I pull out the USB from the back of the printer and turn off the router. I had to wait up to a minute before putting the router back on and putting the USB back into the printer. It worked!! as I was able to print my Andy Murray Live ticket.
Glad you got it sorted, Stell. It's always worth unplugging everything and starting again.
I know this has nothing to do with the technical woes, but I'm looking for a new camera and hoping someone might know something about them. I'm looking for one that has a zoom, my laptop (Acer Chromebook 15) can print photos from it and also the camera can take photos in the dark. I've read I should get a Praktica Luxmedia Z212 - black compact camera.

I don't know much about camera either but I do know optical zoom much better than digital zoom. So make sure camera have optical zoom.
I know this has nothing to do with this website, but I've got a problem with two TVs. One is a Panasonic and other is a Luxor. When the Luxor is on, I sometimes can't either get all the Freeview channels or I can but the picture keeps going funny. When both of them are on, there is no problem. I, vaguely, remember an engineer coming to my house about a couple of years ago and he said it was something to do not getting enough power through the Panasonic. I can't remember what he did. Does anyone have a solution?
How does the signal get to the TVs?
Through the aerial. When I moved to Exeter, the previous owner had Sky. She got it disconnected before she moved. There was only one TV, which was for downstairs. I got someone in to get another aerial to go upstairs as well.

I wonder if the problem is caused by having two aerials and they interfere with each other? You should have one aerial with both TVs connected to it.
I wonder if anyone can advise me on this? When I got in last night, I saw that Kyle's match was on so went to watch it - on my Kindle, as usual. However it wouldn't start and eventually a message came up saying that I didn't have enough broadband speed for live streaming (I have never had this problem before). I checked my broadband speed and was only getting 12mbps instead of the 36mbps I am paying for, so decided to contact TalkTalk in the morning. But in the meantime I will get on to Amazon as well because all other streaming used to work fine before I went on fibre and only had 6mbps so 12 should be more than enough. This morning I went on my computer and checked the speed, and it is 38mbps. So I checked my Kindle again and it was still only 12mbps. Then I placed my Kindle right next to the router and got 18mbps. The computer is connected by cable. So is the wireless bit of the router not working properly? Should I ask TalkTalk for a replacement router? I've been with TalkTalk fibre for just over a year and had no problems previously.

Have you tried the basics? For example, switching WiFi off and on again on your Kindle? Rebooting the router? They are usually good places to start...

Resetting/Rebooting usually solves most issues, wifi tends to not to be as consistent as a wired connection but there should not be such a disparity in speed. Having said that 12Mbps should be sufficient for anything up to HD quality. Restarting the device clearing data and ensuring you have the latest update may make a difference, I'll enclose Amazon Troubleshooting Guide. Prime Troubleshooting (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201460960) if issues would get back to Talk Talk/Amazon, though your router would seem to be fairly modern. If comfortable can you tweak anything in your Router Admin settings such as different wifi channel , on my router I have an Auto and Manual setting for Channels. Never had Talk Talk myself but admin page accessed via https://192.168.1.1 (https://192.168.1.1/) and general guide here https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Change-your-wireless-channel/ta-p/2204684

I am having problems posting on my blog. Have written two accounts and being told token has expired. They were auto saved but how do I get them back. This is extremely frustrating.
The autosave isn't really effective if you are typing a really long post. Best to type it on another app and then copy and paste it into the forum.

another issue. On Facebook page we sometimes get US football (or something) pop up as if we have posted on the AMFF page. It's always looks like their genuine news happy that they've won etc - it's not nasty stuff or anything. But it's odd. There was one recently but I can't see it now.

Does anyone know about BT phones? I've just received a BT 4600 Cordless Phone with Answering Machine - Twin Handsets. I charged it up for 24 hours. I then put in the time and date and the recorded message. After I put a name and phone number in, it suddenly got stuck on Exit without saving? If I press yes or no, nothing happens. If I press Phone Book, nothing happens. BT have told me to phone them next Monday!!

I think I may have closed it by accident. I honestly can't remember but was busy yesterday and did close some threads in FTD/FTM but may accidentally close wrong one.
I hope somebody can help me with this one. While I was away, last week, my sister phoned me to say I'd got no internet. I returned home on Sunday and then phoned my broadband provider on Monday. They sent an engineer on Tuesday, who believed the socket for the phone and broadband was faulty and replaced it. It didn't work, so an engineer from Open Reach came yesterday. He believed the router was faulty. But, wouldn't replace it with a new one. After he'd gone, I had to phone my broadband provider who believed the socket was faulty. I was told to take the front of it off and replace it with a filter. I was then told to buy a new Mastersocket 5C Spaceplate Mik 4 (Open Reach) one. Then, replace it with the filter. I was told he'd found one for about £10 on the Amazon website. But, do any shops sell them? Also, my laptop only now recognises my an old email account which finished in about 2012. If I got the new socket, would my laptop recognise my present email address or would I still have to try and change it? I would like to get rid of the old one permanently, but I don't know how to do it.
Sorry, I meant to say MK 4 and not MIK 4. Also, after giving my laptop a good kicking (I didn't really kick it), my present email address finally started working.

You mean on smart TV? Not streaming device like Roku, Apple TV streaming boxes etc?
Hard to tell really cos there so many brand and models of smart TV and all behave different.
If you talking about smart TV then maybe check is there firmware update? If there it then download/install it.
Do apps on that smart TV update itself? Or you need do it yourself? (I don't have much experience of smart TV cos I use streaming boxes instead cos they much better and more stable). Check if apps can be updated.
I think last choice is reset smart TV back default if nothing at all fix problem means lose settings been set up and need be reset up again. It might still not work after that.......
They’re due back today. So, I’ll let them know.

We have a Samsung smart tv and it is awful! I spent ages trying to add the Discovery + app yesterday. I got it eventually by doing the opposite to all of the instructions.

I think all smart TV is awful. That why here have streaming boxes instead. Can do so much more and reliable. I disconnect my smart TV off internet cos it was so bad when I got it years ago.
