Interesting draw - quite tricky for Andy I think - maybe we will see an Andy/Raonic match this time. Berdych drawn to play Nishikori again!

At least Andy can only play Berdy if they both get to the final and Berdy would in all likelihood have to overcome Nadal before then. Obviously though both Nico and Ferrer could be tough for Murray. Whilst not taking anything for granted hope Muzzah will reach the latter stages.

I don't think Milos will get past Almagro, unfortunately.
definitely glad to see Berdy in the other half!
Leif Shiras waxing lyrical about Berdych snapping at Andy's heels for number 4 spot after his good run here - last time I looked he was almost 4,000 points behind Andy!

Doubles draw not out yet that I can find but this via @Stu_Fraser on twitter:
Decent dubs draw for Murray bros in Barcelona vs K Anderson & F Moser.
Good chance for Jamie to pick up more points on road to London 2012.

Bellucci is out of Barcelona with a stomach virus if my translation of this tweet is correct ...
In his place will be an 8th player from qualifying to play against Andjuar.
Thomaz Bellucci causa baja en el #bcnopenbs (https://twitter.com/#%21/search/%23bcnopenbs) por virus intestinal. En su lugar, un octavo jugador clasificado lo hará contra Andújar

Berdych has withdrawn from Barcelona with a shoulder injury. Maybe it's a pity that he wasn't in Andy's half!!!

Good for Rafa I guess.

typical!
Andy plays S.Stakhovsky in the 2nd round:)
From the Barcelona website:
ORDER OF PLAY - TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2012
PISTA CENTRAL start 11:00 am
[15] B Tomic (AUS) vs E Gulbis (LAT)
Not Before 1:30 PM
[9] F Verdasco (ESP) vs [Q] A Golubev (KAZ) or S Darcis (BEL)
[LL] E Donskoy (RUS) or S Stakhovsky (UKR) vs [2] A Murray (GBR)
Think they are an hour head of us, so I make it that Andy will be second match after 12.30pm.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
Anyone know of any threads broadcasting Andy's match?
Does anyone know; Andy is in Barcelona no 2 seed and in the same part of the draw as no 3 seed. In Monte Carlo Andy was seed no 3 and in the same part as No 1 (Nole). Why is this?
number one seed can be drawn against three or four as can number two its randomly drawn
Anyone know of any threads broadcasting Andy's match? We'll know nearer the time.

According to my Radio Times, Barcelona is being covered by Sky Sports from Thursday.
Thursday - Sky Sports 3 12.30 - 6.00 pm.
Friday - Sky Sports 3 - 11.30 am - 7.00 pm.
thank you both for the quick reply! I understand it's 50 % chance 1-3/2-4 or 1-4/2-3? An independant draw (same as randomly!)?

Perhaps it's my imagination but it seems that the TV companies have decided to show less tennis.
I'm sure that a lot of these events were getting coverage from the 'off' in previous years.

In that case you might be able to watch Rafa winning it again this year then ......

http://www.lshunter.tv/tennis-live-streaming-video.html have the match listed at 15.00 (presumably about 2pm BST). No guarantee it will actually be there when the time comes, of course, I've known them to list a match which later disappears. . .
Bet365 don't have the match listed, if Sky are not showing matches till Thursday I would be surprised if we get a stream before then!
There were streams yesterday - I watched Raonic's match so they should be up again today. :)
You could be right Katie, as Bet365 didn't have any tennis listed last night but they do have today, but not Andy I am afraid unless it changes again, as Madeline say's livescorehunter do have Andy listed so let's hope THAT doesn't change nearer the time!:)

Hope Andy doesn't react to the early start. They want tyo get the only non Spanish match on centre court out of the way first. Wouldn't do that if it was Fed playing!!
Have a good match Andy and stay focused.
Floppy one set up against Daveed 7-6. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I was expecting Ferrer to run away with this one, but Floppy seems to have other ideas :)
RoastLamb
27-04-2012, 14:01
I'd rather Milos play Floppy than Ferru because Ferru's beaten him twice and pretty easily.
Just got home again, to see that as usual Feli has squandered match points. He could have been a top 10 player if he didn't always have so much trouble finishing off a match. Sigh.

Ferrer has just broken Lopez - first break of the match - so he's gotta be favourite to win now...
RoastLamb

Oh honestly, Floppy! He had a lead in that second set tb as well. :grrr:
wish I could have seen the whole match - what I've seen has been pretty good.

Impressed with Floppy's backhand - it's really improved!
yes, his much improved backhand has been in evidence since last year.

Too bad, altho' I expected Ferru to get to the semi, now I see him in the final, once again.
Rafa time! :yahoo:
Rafa breaks Tipsy in the first game :)
Meanwhile Granollers & Marc Lopez are serving for the first set against Bhupathi & Zim. :)
I'm pleased that Ferrer won but Lopez played really well. :)

Tipsy is doing just that - trouble is, it doesn't do any good! A couple of games ago, Tipsy hit at least three fantastic ground strokes, and they all came back with interest - Rafa is just awesome!
Vamos Rafa! :swingin:
. . . First set to Rafa 6-2, he's playing really well :)

He's playing phenomenally well! I don't think anybody has a chance of touching him on clay when he plays at this level - it's ridiculously good :big grin:

Wow! I may have just jinxed it, cos Tipsy just broke
Granollers & Marc Lopez have just beaten Bhupathi & Zim in the dubs! :)
Rafa breaks straight back again :)
6-2, 6-2. Well done Rafa!  :cheer: :cheer:
Very impressive performance from Rafa once again!

pity Kei had to pull out, so Nando goes through after only 6 games. Really tight with Ferrer and Lopez, but maybe fitting that David took his place in the semis. Looks like Rafa was in cruise control!
Quite looking forward to the Ferrer/Raonic match today, sorry Fiona I have to go for Ferrer!:)

Ferrer takes the 1st set :) Milos is giving him a tough match, though.

Tie-break it is ... Ferrer to serve first.
*1-0
2-0* early break for Ferru
3-0* that's 2 bp's on the Raonic serve
*4-0
*5-0
6-0* hmm ...
6-1* Ferru to serve for the 1st set with 5 mp's in hand
*6-2 DF from the Spaniard ...
*7-2 But he finally wins the first set.
Duracell Dave is alive and well in Barcelona!!!
7'6(2) first set.

GSM David Ferrer 7'6(2), 7'6(5).
That was VERY close indeed - just shows what Andy must have been up against yesterday if Raonic could push Duracell Dave, a classy clay player, this far today.
Very close match, but brilliant play from Ferrer, very well focused!!!!!...........Bravo!!!!!!:)
Indeed. Ferru is currently the 3rd best player in the world on clay, and Raonic was right with him throughout the match.

Great point to finish it, well done Ferrer! Milos certainly played his part though, just a few points in it really.
Well done Daveed - great match. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
so how did daveed succeed where andy flunked?

28-04-2012, 14:45
Well I thought Milos played very well. Had a few break chances and managed to pull through the 0-40 game on his own serve. This is the closest match him and Ferru have played, such improvement. So proud that he was able to get to the semi-final. Can't wait to see if he improves even more throughout the year.
Linda, Milos' coach is Galo Blanco who is indeed Spanish. Milos trains in Spain throughout the year.
I don't really enjoy Rafa-Ferru finals have to say. They tend to be grinding affairs. I expect Rafa will beat him comfortably, however.

At least Nando got four games in the 2nd and even had break back points at the end, but think there was really only 1 winner!
Nando was so dire that I think Rafa fell asleep for a while in the 2nd set. Should be a better match tomorrow.
RoastLamb
28-04-2012, 15:57
I fell asleep. I'm sure I will tomorrow as well.
Yes, I dozed off for a bit too.
so how did daveed succeed where andy flunked?
Raonic didn't play as well today as he did yesterday and Ferrer had the benefit of having played him several times before. Andy was beginning to read Milos' serve in the second set - if it had gone to a third it may well have been a different result.
I don't think I'll watch the final tomorrow - Daveed/Rafa matches are predictable and usually pretty boring IMO.
too bad for Milos , would have been a better final imo
I like David , but Nadal / Ferrer matches are a snooze
lots of positives for Milos to take from this past week , he has really improved , hopefully he can stay injury free.
I think he has a great future ahead of him !!!!
I'm looking forward to the final tomorrow - the outcome is predictable but unless Rafa plays Novak the outcome usually never is in doubt on clay. I just hope that David plays his best tennis and keeps the match competitive. He's had a great start to 2012 - 3 titles and now another final. :)
The first semi was great today, really competitive. Full credit to Milos for playing so well and pushing David hard, really impressive performance from him. Rafa played great at the beginning of his match today, really didn't give Verdasco any chances to get into the match.

Would have liked to see Milo play Rafa - it would have put a real interest in the final. I agree that Rafa/Ferrer finals tend to be a little repetitive and sometimes a bit of a yawm. Although David played great yesterday to hold of Raonic and that may inspire him.
Cant see any winner but Rafa thoughy
Rafa seems to be a man on a mission at the moment - I can't see anyone stopping him on clay.
M&M have an early break :) but I can't find a stream
M&M took the first set 6-2. The 2nd set has just gone to a tiebreak. It's criminal that this isn't televised.
Doubles seldom are - more's the pity!
Often tennistv show the finals
Oh no, the Poles take the 2nd set. Come on M&M!
The Poles won 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 :crying:
JAMES4578

Thiught it might go to a ctb but plumped for Granollers/Lopez to take it. Still good tournament for Fyrstenberg Matkowski who followed up another tight win over Miryni/Nestor.

I went for my heart on this one. Poo!
They nearly did it. The Poles saved 3 MPs in the 2nd set and one in the MTB. I was very impressed with M&M in Monte - you should have seen them thrash Melzer & Mayer - I think it was 6-1, 6-0
This is a really exciting match. Ferrer is playing brilliantly.
I'm really enjoying it so far - hope Ferrer can keep this level up. :)

Yea!Poor David gets a fruit basket!!!;)
Aww poor Ferru. It would have meant so much for him to win Barcelona. Such an great performance from him, he fought so hard.
Well done to Rafa - he once again proved how excellent he is under pressure. His level on clay this year seems much higher than last year - wouldn't be surprised if he sweeps all the clay titles this year.
JAMES4578
29-04-2012, 17:17
Well done Nadal and he certainly stepped it up under pressure, but pity Ferrer couldn't take more of his chances.
So sorry for Daveed - he deserved to win a set at least. I can't see anyone beating Rafa on clay - knees or no knees - he's moved up a gear.
I agree that Daveed deserved to win a set. He would have won that match against anyone else. It's quite probable that Rafa will sweep all the clay tournies this year, like he did in 2010. *antijinx*
What a pity that tennistv didn't show the annual champagne (or rather, Cava) fight between Rafa and Daveed this year. Always such fun.
