Right, let's try this again shall we? No more messing around, let's have an actual race this time - you should have plenty of energy for it. What? Cars broken in the last race? Not to worry they're all repaired:

No excuses!

As always, rules of the competition and overall leaderboard are posted here (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?538-Bubble-Gap-Championship-2012). The aim of this competition is to guess the bubble gap after Miami. The current race rankings are as follows:

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3476/racepremiami.jpg

The current bubble gap is 305. That's Andy's score(1280) – Raonic's score(975) = 305.

The highest possible bubble gap is 1295. That's Andy winning the title, Raonic losing his first match and no-one overtaking him.
The smallest bubble gap is once again 0. This happens if Del Potro loses his first match and Andy loses in the 3rd round with 3 players below them doing well enough to overtake them.
Also keep in mind that there is a chance that Andy could drop out of the top 8. If this happens the biggest bubble gap as far as I can see is 105.

Remember that regardless of whether you think Andy will be in the top 8 or outside it, your guess is still a positive number.

So in summary, your guess is between 0 and 1295. If you don't want to do any maths then just guess a random number and see how things turn out!
Remember that you can't guess the same number as someone else and once you've posted your guess you can't change it.

Ranking points on offer for Miami are:

R1: 10
R2: 25
R3: 45
R4: 90
QF: 180
SF: 360
F: 600
W: 1000

Good luck to all who take part and may the best driver win! :trophy:

Deadline: Wednesday 21st March, 2.59pm

Edit: Updated the chart with SF and F results of IW.

Possibly why we've all held off predicting until now!

isner entering top8 will impact the pre tournament bubble gap

Well as I mentioned in the first post, Isner would have to win IW for that to happen. If he gets to the final he'll move up to 10 and winning the final will push him up to 6 just past Andy. It's very unlikely to happen as he would have to beat Djoko followed by Fed/Nadal (why do I get the feeling I'm going to have to eat my words in a couple of days?).

I should have said as well if Isner is the winner in IW the BG would decrease by 35. So the current BG would be 270 and the highest possible BG would be 1260.

Edit: And of course, Isner just beat Djoko...

The chart has now been updated with the SF and F results of IW. Bubble gap remains the same. Only difference is that Isner moves up to 10 and Fed now takes the no.1 spot thanks to his win.

17 people manage to recover from the IW crash in time for the Miami race. With 3 'races' having gone by without a single glimpse of action, the crowd are itching for something interesting to happen.

Not wanting to waste any time, the drivers are quickly sent out for qualifying. For the second time in a row, eblunt starts off strong once again, taking pole having just squeaked past Ace! by a few hundreths of a second.
Linda and Yorkie follow shortly after, taking 3rd and 4th.
hfwardhouse and jaysee start on the 3rd row, which happens to be the exact row they started on back in IW.
Oscar and DaveArneRiise are behind them, with the former making it into the top 10 for the first time this year.
VamosVixs and Manaus make up the last of the top 10.

There's quite a bit of tension in the steward camp as they've been informed that if the race gets called off again the lot of them are likely to be put on probation :sofa:.

The wait for the green light begins...

Hum de hum...http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp177/scrappinkym/Smiley%20Emoticons/Connie_twiddle.gif
What? There's some action going on? No!
The stewards clamber out from their sofas to get a closer look and indeed there's action for the first time this year. http://serve.mysmiley.net/jumping/jumping0045.gif (http://www.celebrityfashionarchive.com)

It takes a couple of laps but Linda is the first to take the initiative. As the racers approach the last corner of the track she slips past eblunt and Ace! and pushes ahead.
eblunt attempts to chase after her but goes a bit too fast at the next corner and nearly crashes into the barriers. He hits the brakes which causes Ace! who is very close by to nearly collide into him but manages to swerve out of the way.
Yorkie takes advantage of eblunt's mistake and zips past the two of them in pursuit of Linda.

Will the other drivers try to get in on the action?

(Apologies for not updating the charts as I was a bit busy for the past few days (not that much was happening). They're now on the 2nd post of this thread.)

I think Oscar's just done a brilliant bit of overtaking on a single bend:trophy:
(unless Tsonga can perform miracles!)

Indeed he does but quite a lot has been happening before that - In fact it's all getting rather chaotic.

eblunt and Ace's fortunes don't get much better as the former's attempts at catching Linda finally get the better of him as he goes way too fast at a hairpin turn and ends up colliding into the back of Ace's vehicle. The two have no choice but to enter the pits for repairs.

Linda, as quick as she is can't keep it up due to her low fuel strategy and has to end up pitting as well to refuel.

Yorkie thinks he's got this in the bag but a whole group of drivers behind him smell an opportunity and start to push down on the gas. Despite trying his best to keep them at bay it's to no avail as jaysee, DaveArneRiise, hfwardhouse, VamosVixs and Oscar overtake him.

It's getting quite frantic between the 5 as they battle for pole and jaysee seems to be the one winning it until Oscar, who appeared to be lagging behind does some very quick and fancy manouevering at the chicane to come out on top.

Is there more to come or will Oscar dominate the rest of the race?

I think I'm running out of fuel, and I'm not sure whether there'll be any available in the pits with all the panic buying...nadals followed you, looks like those who fueled to the end could pick up some points

Manaus
30-03-2012, 20:51
The quick pace set by the top 5 causes them to burn through the fuel so Oscar, jaysee, Yorkie and hfwardhouse go to the pits only to find that even that area is full of problems.

Ace! and eblunt find that they are forced to retire due to excessive damage to their cars. http://www.hazelnet.org/icon/cars/mechanic.gif
Meanwhile, Linda along with the others joining her in the pit are having major issues refuelling due to apparent lack of said fuel (what do you mean the stewards used it all!) and are pretty much stuck in the pits until more can be found.

News of this spreads onto the track and VamosVixs and DaveArneRiise who are low on fuel themselves decide to slow down. Good things come to those who wait apparently as the pack at the back who have been staying low key still have near full tanks. The drivers respond in different ways however.

Sallydaisy and pabbers decide to stay cautious and don't push too hard on the gas. Genbrit, Golden Lady and cazza99 on the other hand think the exact opposite and soon large amounts of smoke are fogging up the track. Manaus who's been going at a steady pace has to quickly swerve off the road to avoid the 3 of them steamrolling over his car. With all the smoke the stewards can just barely make out that cazza99 is the one leading at the moment.

-J- and Lizzim don't seem too fussed about what's happening and are more than happy sitting back with a glass of  watching all the chaos erupt in front of them.

There's only a few laps to go - Will things finally calm down?

Manaus
01-04-2012, 21:43
The fuel never arrives at the pits and things gradually settle down on the track with the last couple of laps passing without any new drama. Cazza99 along with Golden Lady and Genbrit maintain their blistering pace and cross the finish line well ahead of everyone else still on the track to end an action packed race.
