Thanks Fiona - I think it's just us in the UK. It's not actually "Mother's Day" - it's Mothering Sunday, a tradition hundreds of years old here which is always held on the 3rd Sunday of Lent. "Mother's Day", as celebrated in the US and some other countries, was invented in the USA in the 20th century in order to sell cards etc.

I have had a lovely day. Lunch with son and family which was really enjoyable then back home where we laughed so much. Ethel and I were treated royally and appreciated it so much. We are lucky in the children we share by marriage.

Just finished a wonderful dinner cooked by Caz. There was a starter of smoked salmon and caviar. Then the wonderful main course of rare rack of lamb with a herb crust, lovely creamy mash, asparagus, carrot & swede mash, grilled aubergine slices, and deep fried parsnip slivers, with a port and rosemary gravy. There is a lovely lemony pudding to follow but I'm too full at the moment. Caz is a wonderful cook.

She's also bought me a spa day which I'm looking forward to :big grin:

Hope everyone's had a lovely day. I certainly have. I've had some lovely gifts but most special of all was a lovely meal my daughter has spent most of the day cooking for and which we have all just enjoyed. She has worked really hard and we are very lucky to have such a lovely daughter - ALL year round!

But it's still the same thing in the end. To celebrate and spoil all the mothers out there. I think your daughter and MurrayAOne's did an AWESOME job too!!! So lucky.
